I came to Shield with high expectations based on strong word-of-mouth and positive reviews from people I trust. While the staff was friendly and the pricing fair, my experience raised serious concerns about attention to detail and overall quality. I wanted this to be my go-to shop -- but unfortunately, the results just didn't meet the standard I was hoping for. After our regular detailer moved away, I started asking around for someone new. Over the course of a few months, two separate folks in the industry mentioned Shield by name. On top of that, their Google reviews page had several reviews from people I personally know who had great things to say -- so I felt confident giving them a try. Last week, I picked up an F150 work truck that had sat unused for five years. While it's a base model, the interior clearly needed a deep, professional-level detail to bring it up to standard. I stopped by the shop in person, and after the tech looked over the interior, he gave me a fair quote and said it would be about a week before they could get me in. That sounded totally reasonable to me. We set a date, and I asked how to handle drop-off. The guy gave me clear instructions on where to park and how to leave the key. I dropped the truck off at 6:15am as planned -- no issues. But around 1:30pm, I got a call saying they hadn't realized my truck was out front or that the keys were in the drop box. The person on the phone said they weren't sure if they'd have time to get it done, since they were leaving by 4:30. This caught me off guard because we had clearly discussed this exact scenario a week prior. I explained that, and the caller said they'd do their best. At 2:50pm I got a text saying the truck was ready. I was between meetings, so I swung by quickly. The guy was friendly and walked me through a few things -- mentioned discoloration on the rear floor and a couple minor issues with the factory tint. A quick glance with the interior light looked decent, and I was in a rush. I thanked him, paid, and left. Later that evening, I got a chance to really look things over. In the sunlight, it was clear there were still surface smudges and goo on the door handles. Dust on the headrests, in the door wells, and around the seat brackets hadn't been touched. I really wanted this to be my new shop, and maybe this was just an off day. It happens -- maybe the detailer was as distracted as I was that day. Still, the lack of attention to detail on a relatively simple job left me pretty disappointed. I'm grateful I started with a vehicle that wasn't part of our daily rotation -- but even so, I expected a thorough, professional detail and didn't get it. I'm not saying they can't do better. Maybe I just caught them on a rough day. But based on this experience, I'll be holding off on a return visit.

We aren't from KY...YOU ARE BEING WARNED!! PLS STAY AWAY from GRAYSON AUTOMOTIVE in Grayson, KY!…read moreThey HAVE NO INTEGRITY! THEY OVERCHARGE & then MAKE EXCUSES & LIE TO YOUR FACE while saying 2 different contradictory statements in one breath AFTER you have your car back & you find PROBLEMS w/ what was repaired! We went to their shop on 7/28/26. After waiting 4 weeks to get our engine replaced (8/25/26) they let us leave & didn't bleed the air out of our radiator (which almost caused us to overheat & break down), apparently ran a new line to our washer fluid bottle & now it doesn't work properly, & the car STILL had acceleration issues that we originally told them about ...& we found out why... WE HAD A BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT! It took them 4-5 days JUST TO LOOK AT OUR CAR after we dropped it off (8/3)! We were originally going to repair the engine when they found metal in it & a worn cam shaft (8/7). Our engine was on the floor of the shop (we have pics). We were told we needed another engine. We waited 15 days for the new engine to arrive (8/21). SO they already KNEW the motor mount was broken BEFORE we ordered the other engine when they took the old engine out! They never told us or repaired it! NOW they're making the excuse that we rushed them. REALLY??!! WE SAT IN A HOTEL FOR 4 WEEKS! They got the engine on Fri 8/21 & started working on it (they close sat & sun). I called Tues late morning (8/25) to get an update on the car. I let them know I needed to be kept updated because we had 1 more day left in the hotel. I told them if I needed to stay another day I needed to know today! By 4:00 pm on Tues I called back to get an update (they close at 4:30 & they never called me back). They told me the mechanic just came back from a test drive & everything was fine. They never disclosed any problems w/the car. They just took our $10,350 from us to replace the engine & rushed to go home! PLEASE don't go there. YOU ARE BEING WARNED! Stay far away from Grayson Automotive! They will steal your money, you'll still have problems with the car plus new problems & then they'll make the excuse that you were the problem rushing them about time & money. OF COURSE I'm going to call & want updates about my car when I've been sitting for 4 weeks spending $2500 on a hotel plus food & over $10,350 for an engine! We were there away from home & work for so long that we were running into a money situation & had to make a GoFundMe to ask for help, ask family, friends, even strangers to help us out just to stay in the hotel & eat all while we were trying to get the engine replaced! You can go to our FB pg on Supreme Shine Polishing & still see the GoFundMe for the issues that we were dealing with while trying to get this engine done. They KNEW about our money situation & THEY STILL DID THIS TO US! SHAME ON THEM! They took advantage of our situation! The right thing to do was to tell us if there were other problems w/the car in order to complete the job AND THEN FIX THEM! ESPECIALLY THE MOTOR MOUNT! It's standard to replace broken motor mounts when you replace an engine & they didn't do it. If it hadn't been for a flat tire I never would have known about the broken motor mount!! & now we're having to spend extra money to replace what's broken when they should have been the ones to fix it w/o the extra cost! BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF INTEGRITY IT ALMOST DESTROYED OUR NEW ENGINE!! I'm filing a complaint w/the BBB as well... & GOD will be our judge in this! (Oh & I forgot to mention we were there a week before w/the same exact complaints about the engine & instead they replaced a catalytic converter which WASN'T THE PROBLEM & we still had the same issues w/the engine. That was another $1,000 gone for nothing!)
