DO NOT USE THIS MAN (Mike Regan) FOR ANY JOB ON YOUR HOME NO MATTER WHAT COMPANY NAME IT'S UNDER!!! THIS MAN KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CHIMNEYS AND HE'S LIES AT EVERY TURN!
The original sweep I had appt with never showed up. I saw an ad in local paper for Mike's company, Precision Chimney, so I called. (Precision is one of several companies between him and his brother, Dennis - All the reviews for any of these companies is the same...not good!) 2 days went by before Mike called back, then it was this "rush" to come here. I should have gone with my gut and not let him pressure me into coming that moment. Within 10 minutes of being here our chimney apparently needed $800 worth of work. Chimney collar was cracked and needed to be replaced. Stack and cap were rusted out and needed to be replaced with what he told me would be a stainless steel stack and cap so it could never rust. Also, the flashing needed to be re-tarred and some of bricks near top needed fresh mortar. I asked him to take pictures of what the chimney looked like at this point, to which he answered that his phone camera doesn't work. He left 1st day with all work supposedly done except for new stack and cap. He said he would pick it up next day and come finish. He, of course, asked for a deposit...1/2 of the total.
Next day the phone calls started that he couldn't come. First it was because the store didn't have part, then it was something else. He finally comes back that Friday. I was working and didn't know if I was going to make it back to house for him to which he said, DON'T WORRY, I'LL TAKE PICTURES FOR YOU...NOW HIS CAMERA WORKS???? I made it home just as he was in middle of making his huge mess out of my chimney. Keep in mind this was a super windy day with gusts up to 30 mph. He sloppily (and that's an understatement) cemented the new stack/cap on and as he's packing up his truck to leave a huge gust of wind came and blew the stack off the roof. It landed on my deck along with cement splatter all over. I heard the crash and ran out to see what was supposed to be a stainless steel stack and cap was nothing more than some thin flex type piping that had come apart when it hit my deck.
He then told me he couldn't go back up and reattach it because of the wind, but he'd come back again next day and secure it to chimney so it could never blow away. Saturday came and went without him coming. Having the weekend to mull it over, I really felt to cut my losses and have someone else come to finish the job. I let him know we were going with someone else.
Fast forward to today when a much more reputable chimney co. came and assessed the situation. THERE WAS NO NEW COLLAR PUT ON, FLASHING WAS NOT RE-TARRED, AND THERE'S JUST A MASSIVE PILE OF HARDENED CEMENT GLOBBED ONTO THE TOP OF MY CHIMNEY MUCH OF IT ALSO SPLATTERED ALL OVER THE ROOF.
This cannot be fixed now because of the cold weather. All the cement will have to be chipped away and a new stack/cap put on in spring. Here are pictures of what my chimney top looks like now. What a mess!!!!
Steer clear of Precision Chimney as well as C & M Chimney - anything that has Mike Regan's name attached to it. Any positive reviews about his work must be from family members because all the other reviews are singing the same tune as me unfortunately. read more
