I made the mistake of contracting with Robert 'Pepper' Rackstraw to work on my 2002 Honda VTX 1800…read morebecause he offered to pick up and deliver the bike, as a new rider that was a huge benefit. When he picked up my bike, he recommended I come to his shop to 'check it out', it didn't register at the time, but you'll find out later why he did that. My fork seals were shot that was $200 the tune-up on the bike was $600 that would include all new brake pads, brake flush, fluid check/ flush. He was also to revert to original Honda handlebars and risers and speedometer $600 in parts and labor, which he asked for the money upfront via PayPal (I was foolish and paid as a friend so I had no recourse, that's on me) which did make me suspicious as most mechanics collect the total once the work is completed. I gave him the bike 1/21/22, I didn't receive it back until (get this) April fool's day 2022. He asked for payment in full b4 he returned the bike saying he was short on rent (another red flag) then he told me that he paid for the speedometer base out of pocket for $100 no charge, I later called him on this lie via my review on his FB page and heard cricket's aka guilt. He did install the handlebars, speedometer, and crash bars, fork seals seemed OK, although the bars were not fully tightened and when I revved the bike, they shifted almost causing me to lose control of the 800lb monster. The handlebars had a scrape on them he probably got used not from the dealer like he said. He completely forgot to install the brake flasher mod and kept the part and didn't return it to me (theft). The brakes were not done at all, nor were the fluids changes as promised. When I contacted him about the brakes still missing a bolt on the rear pads and the brake light not working on the rear brakes he told me to bring the bike back to the shop after I reinstated that I'm a beginner rider and a 40 mile ride was out of the question he still insisted. After a month of him scheduling a pick up time and not showing or not calling I realized that he was an immoral person and posted a negative review on his FB page where he attacked me personally and made no effort to remedy. When I asked him for a refund, he said you saw the sign in my shop, no refunds on labor, I asked 'even if you didn't do what you were supposed to' and he said yes, I told him he was the reason the worlds in the state of moral decay that it is and he replied 'good riddance'. He also never returned my parts, he is a liar, a cheat, and a thief, use a reputable dealer instead.

He was on a job but agreed to come see me next. Mr. Hammer was very friendly and knowledgeable, never complained, had a 'Can Do' attitude. He did a great job, looks very solid, and functional.
