Yes, I have recently had an awful experience with "Patrick Hooper," the owner of "Silver Star…read moreConstruction" and Roofing. I hired Mr. Hooper's company to provide professional services for "new roof replacement work" for our home. The new roof replacement was to include the installation of new Owens Corning 'dark charcoal color' architectural shingles, new decking - where damaged and/or needed to be replaced, install ice and water barrier, install plumbing jacks, install a cricket at the front face of the chimney, and although it was quoted in contract, there was no synthetic felt installed on the roof. Mr. Hooper initially represented himself as a concerned businessman and professional roofer, who only wanted to provide the best roofing service in the community - however, during the course of the roof installation, and re-roof corrections Mr. Hooper's true intent and nature would surface. It was one of deceit, disrespect, dishonesty, and deceptive business practices. On March 11, 2025 deposit check in the amount of ********* was given directly to Mr. Hooper to begin the new roof replacement within a few days, weather permitting. On the day the work began, Thursday March 20, 2025, several men showed up and began setting up for the roof replacement - I had no idea at that time that they were NOT employees of Silver Star Construction, but there were "Day Labor" roofing contractors that usually sit in the parking lots of Lowes, Home Depot, and Roofing Supply Companies to get jobs. I actually asked one of the workers later in the afternoon during their lunch break and he shared that information with me. During the course of the roof replacement work I attempted to walk my property as much as I could, taking photos and observing the work efforts of the workers - this is my right a the "Property Owner." I had to stop the lead worker and bring to his attention that the other guys were placing the ice and water barrier over damaged roof decking which needed to be replaced. I had he to contact Mr. Hooper, and I called Mr. Hooper as well, to let him know that no ice and water barrier would be placed over damaged and rooted decking. At that point I realized that I would have to monitor theses workers myself, as Mr. Hooper had not shown up onsite and no one was providing guidance to them. My plumbing stack vent covers and my Gas Oven-Range Round Vent Stack were all "accidentally" thrown away by the workers during the roof replacement. The initial new roof replacement took two days, and that second day the workers worked on my roof in the dark-evening until after 9:30pm CST. I asked the lead worker why they weren't at least using a spot-light and I was told by him that it would be fine, that they would utilize their cell phone lights - I'm sure this also attributed to the disarray of the mis-matched shingles. So, after the "day-labor" roofing crew was finished I contacted Mr. Hooper the very next day to inform him of my dissatisfaction, and to request the he meet with me to view the roof and the areas where the shingles were of a different tone and color. He attempted to down-play the matter and place blame on the shingle placement and the sun light. I told him that I would not accept the roof with the issues outstanding and that he would need to correct the issues and re-reinstall new matching shingles, as well as provide new plumbing stack covers and my Gas Oven-Range Vent. Mr. Hooper came by and made several promises to "Make-Good, and Standby the Work," which he has NOT. On April 1, 2025, I responded to a text of, "Hey Bud," from Mr. Hooper in which I said the following: "Good morning bud, when will your guys be returning to make the corrections to the roof? Please give me a tentative schedule..." Mr. Hooper, and a totally new "day-labor" roofing crew actually began the corrective work for the new roof replacement on the morning of Saturday April 12, 2025 at around 8:30am. The guys in this crew did not even know who Mr. Hooper was, as he was not initially onsite when they arrived at my home at 7am in the morning. Long-Story-Short, this attempt to make the needed correction to my roof and concluded the nightmare did not go well either. On the same day, around 2:30pm in the afternoon Mr. Hooper called me on my cell phone to inform me that his workers had completed the roof and that I should return from my family event to bring him a check. I informed Mr. Hooper that, as I had previously mentioned to him I would be at a college event, and that I would not be leaving there until later in the evening - and additionally I would need time to inspect the work given the prior poor quality of work provided in the installation of the mismatched shingles and the vents. He immediately became irate on the phone that said to me, "why do I need to wait for you to inspect the roof so that you can find something else wrong?" I firmly told him he would need to wait. I'm very glad that I did. He is a FRAUD!!!
