This past week I had a dreaded root canal procedure done by Dr. Citron and his terrific assistant, Ashley. They and their team made my experience very positive! I was greeted by the very efficient and calm receptionist. Even the exam room was welcoming, with several pictures hanging on the ceiling and there was also a huge computer screen directly in front of my exam chair which had an inviting screensaver and which transitioned into a display of all my x-rays when Dr. C came in the room. And within reach was a box of tissues for my trepidacious tears of fear prior to the procedure. 70s/80s music was softly played throughout the office. I brought my own headphones and music which I happily used. After numerous X-rays (one of which was interactive on display, showing where all the problems were from various angles) and several numbing shots in my mouth which were 99% painless because Dr. C placed them perfectly (I've had a couple of instances with past dentists who gave me so much Novocain I felt like I couldn't breathe.) I prefer knowing everything that's going to be done, and Dr. C detailed the procedure and answered all my questions using that really cool interactive X-ray. He was patient with my many questions and animated in his explanations but overall. he had a nice, calm aura. Throughout the procedure he and Ashley were very attentive to my comfort, gentle in their manner, and very focused and professional, and Dr. C gave me to countdown to finish several times which I really appreciated! It was a much better experience than expected and the best I could have wished for!! Yes, I definitely very highly recommend Dr. Citron if you need a root canal!

When the pain from infection brought me to my senses I knew I had to go in. Dr. Citron and staff were so kind and thoughtful it reassured me I had come to the right place. After two initial consultations to pin down the problem a date was set. Did not know what to expect. I actually must admit it was painless. Maybe not pleasant but much better than a crown. I could not imagine being pain free later that day but was. I am old enough to remember the stories of old and the pain and agony during and after a root canal. According to Dr. Citron, the techniques and procedures are so far advanced from 40 years ago that it seems like a different issue. I recommend anyone on the verge of tooth pain to visit Dr. Citron and staff!

I want to start off by saying that I gave Dr. Choby every chance possible to rectify the situation…read morebefore leaving this review. To begin with, I went to see a general dentist who recommended that I get a retreatment on a root canal due to an infection and because I was in pain and discomfort. In looking for an endodontist, I found Dr. Choby, and based on her review ratings and comments left, it looked like she would be my best choice (moving forward, I will take perfect reviews with a grain of salt). I drove more than an hour to see Dr. Choby given how good it seemed she might be. After she examined my tooth, it was her professional opinion that I get a retreatment on my root canal to get rid of the infection. It took two visits to complete the treatment. I say this as an observation, but Dr. Choby physically looks as though she should retire, given the line of work that she does and the precise nature of her work. Her hands would shake, which made me nervous. During my two visits to complete the treatment, she hit my nerve twice when injecting the back of my mouth on different days, which hurt, and she said both times on different days, "Oops, I got too close to the nerve." I was allowed to split my out-of-pocket costs between the two visits. Given that I still had a bill after the first visit, the girl at the front desk called to check up on me. After the treatment was complete and they collected all the money for the treatment, I never received a follow-up to see how I was doing. Dr. Choby's body language did not seem confident in her work, that she was able to get rid of the infection. When I went to my general dentist for my new crown, he also noticed in the X-rays that the infection still appeared to be there. He gave Dr. Choby the benefit of the doubt and said let's give it a year to heal to see if the infection goes away. Throughout the past year since the retreatment, I have had to be on antibiotics due to issues with the same infection, and I am here today, after spending a little over $2,000 out of pocket for the retreatment and crown, now having to get that tooth extracted due to being in the same position I was in before getting the retreatment and the infection never going away after Dr. Choby completed her work. I contacted Dr. Choby's office multiple times to try to see if I could get a refund, given that her work was unsuccessful in getting rid of the infection and having to pay all this money to still be in the same position I was in before getting the retreatment. Dr. Choby declined my request for a refund with no reason given. I asked if she could at least cover the cost of the tooth extraction, which would be around $200, and I was disregarded and ignored and then given a no. My tooth infection is even worse now and has created an abscess. Her practice is also outdated, with chairs in the waiting area that are on the verge of breaking. People have died from tooth infections, but it seems as though Dr. Choby cares more about financial gain than doing morally the right thing. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for an endodontist.

While I only needed consult and 3-D CT scan of my teeth both times, after what I've been through with root canals elsewhere, I will go to her for my next root canal. But hoping I won't need one! I think she's the best. And her assistant, Kat, who I met for the first time this visit, is super efficient and personable.

Dr. Dellork not only delivered what he had to as a great endodontist, he made me feel like a person not a number to his work load. He understood my pain, anxiety and emotions related to the pain. I have had so much of dental issues in the past 5 years, seen 3 Maxillo-oral surgeons, 3 general dentist, and 2 endodontists, he is by far the BEST healthcare and dental care provider I've seen (I work in the healthcare field and he is a rare find). He literally walked through all the steps during the surgical procedure, I felt so ensured, he has great personally, depth of knowledge and experience and humor! I really felt like I was cared for during the 3 month process. The office has great front desk staff and dental assistance, they both are exceptional and so friendly, if I had a business, would hire them in a heartbeat. So i packed up my bag and headed off to Dr. Dellork with a very nervous stomach. However, i was put at ease as soon as i sat in the chair. Both him and his assisstant were extremely friendly. He kept me updated on everything he was doing, but also told me to stop him if it got to be too much. We cracked jokes about the Red Sox and Yankees and talked about teaching high school. I think what reassured me the most was when he said "Dont worry about the root canal, it can't be more painful than teaching high school'. The first part of the procedure seemed to be instaneous. It didn't hurt and i had a nice novacaine buzz going on until about 9pm. But he gave me prescriptions for antibiotics and heavy duty pain medicine should i need it, which i really appreciated. People tell stories about root canals, but i have to say that i think Dr. Dellork made it one of the easiest experiences i've ever had.

With little wait, I was guided by a very friendly, professional dental technician for X-rays and then led to a very nice dental chair with a view. She took care of all the prep and made me feel very comfortable. Without much of a wait, I was greeted by Dr. Rahat Aziz. In summary, this was the most comfortable, professional, smooth, painless, honest (she was direct about the damage my neglect had caused without being harsh about it), and kind dental experience that I have ever had. I researched Dr. Johnson on-line and picked him because he was voted top endodontist by his peers in Washingtonian and Nother Virginia magazines several years in a row(!). Had to wait a little longer than I liked every visit, hence the 4 stars, but his staff was very nice to me and I see absolutely nothing wrong with his office, his equipment, or the manners of his staff. More importantly, my procedures were painless and thorough (but not quick). It was a lot of work to clean the now infected root my regular dentist missed twice. I would definitely return to him again and wholeheartedly recommend him. Haven't had a problem with that molar since Dr. Johnson treated it, and have been pain-free for 3+ years now. Since moved to New York, but I would drive back to DC if the need arose in a heartbeat. PS I don't understand the review left by Mr. S. He must be speaking of a different office and doctor or has an agenda. A jealous competitor perhaps?
