I cannot say enough wonderful things about this office. From the moment I walked in, every single person was incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming. Dr. Lam is exceptional -- thorough, incredibly knowledgeable, and so easy to talk to. They ran more tests than I even knew existed, and their technology is truly next-level. I've had poor experiences with dentists in the past and developed pretty significant dental anxiety, but this team was unbelievably accommodating. They explained everything clearly, made sure I was comfortable, and were genuinely invested in helping me feel at ease. What impressed me most is that Dr. Lam identified the root cause of all my dental issues -- something no other dentist has ever done -- and created a plan that is both affordable and totally manageable. Posted a negative review this week about what I considered a bad practice of providing unannounced services and then charging extra for them--dental fluoride treatment not requested. Shortly thereafter I received a call from the office manager who informed me that in her absence the staff had performed this mistake. She promptly refunded the extra charge and profusely apologized. What really stands out is how Dr. Lam takes the time to walk his patients through his diagnosis and explain his recommendations in real time with your X-rays up on the big screen. Dr. Lam and his team are also extremely thorough during your standard procedures such as cleanings or fillings. This level of transparency and care is unheard of in my experience with dentists. I have been suffering from mild apnea and teeth clenching for years that my sleep quality is okay but not great as I woke up a few times at night and my sleep score according to my fitbit device has been below 80. After Dr. Pedro Lam's professional examination, he prescribed me a state of the art adjustable night guard to wear to cure my condition. Just wearing a night, I felt no jaw pain and I can feel I am much energized when I woke up(I haven't experienced this feeling for a long time). Then when I checked my fitbit sleep score this morning, it jumped to 89 !! A significant boost in my sleep quality(as shown). The BEST dentist I've ever had! Service was impeccable, staff goes above & beyond to make you comfortable. Immediately as I sat on the patient chair the dental hygienist welcomed me with a comfort menu. She asked if I had any concerns. She listed items that were available for me during my appointment: sunglasses, chapstick, water, etc--basically whatever I needed to ensure I was comfortable. You also have the option to stream a show or movie via Netflix or listen to a playlist via Spotify during your appointment. Poor communication and service; do not get retainers here. Items not arriving on time. Molds not taken correctly, and have to be repeated. The staff doesn't call when items arrive, but they are quick to take your money upfront. Took me over 3 months, 3 trips to the dentist and dozens of phone calls to get 1 set of retainers. I have been a patient of DR. SOK's for several years. SIMPLY amazing. She identified a bite issue that was threatening my teeth (grinding the front). She advised me AGAINST doing purely cosmetic things when it would have compromised an already weak tooth. She made time in her schedule to immediately fix a tooth that was giving me troubles. Going to the dentist probably isn't everyone's favorite experience, but Seneca Smiles ensures both a trusting and comforting environment and experience. I have been a patient at this practice for about two years. I have always received exceptional care and service here. Dr. Sok and ALL her staff members (Emann, Melody, Juli, Shayma, and Ninous) are wonderful. They are all very kind and caring. They all do a wonderful job and have gone above and beyond my expectations! My first interaction with this practice was when I needed a root canal. I was having a lot of pain in my jaw and needed to be seen. They were able to schedule me on a Saturday because of my work schedule, and I was evaluated and treated right away. I am so grateful! I followed Dr. Sok (I know her as Erica, though) from her previous practice because I have come to trust her with all things pertaining to my dental health. The dentist I saw before I found her was bad news -- he was competent enough, but it was always the case that he was trying to up-charge my family and me. This is not the case with Dr. Sok -- she is knowledgable and cautious, but she's also consumer-minded and will advise you honestly. It's like having a car mechanic you trust, instead of going to the big name chain stores. Aside from being an excellent dentist, Dr. Sok is kind, attentive and compassionate about her patients. One time I had to do five (yes, five) fillings in one sitting, and she took her time and proceeded at a pace that was comfortable to me. When you are in her chair, you are her top priority. The new practice is located conveniently off of Rte. 7 and Georgetown Pike. Amenities include a new digital X-Ray system (which exposes the patient to less radiation compared to film-based X-Ray) and flat-screen HDTVs which allow the patient to easily see his/her X-Rays instantly, as well as a panoramic X-Ray machine to develop a picture of the whole mouth. I give Dr. Sok and her practice five stars because she is trustworthy and I receive top-notch care from her. She makes going to the dentist an enjoyable experience, which is something I cannot say for the vast majority of dentists I've seen in my lifetime. You will not be disappointed. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Sok or Erica since 2009. I was her patient in her previous practice near Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, VA. I do not regret making the choice of following Dr. Sok when she opened her own practice in Great Falls earlier this year. Dr. Sok's office staff is helpful and friendly. The office is conveniently open on Saturdays and accepts my dental insurance, Cigna. I have referred a several friends/co-workers to Dr. Sok. Erica makes the dental experience painless and relaxing as she takes the time to explain every procedure. You can even listen to music or watch TV while your teeth are being cleaned. Dr Suk is a great dentist, patient and gentle, one of the few who gives painless Novocain! However, their policy is to "move " an appointment if you don't confirm over text or email. Extremely frustrating to arrive and find your appointment has been filled and you will have to reschedule or wait. Especially since these appointments were made six months in advance. If I was notified of the policy that would be different. They send so many notifications of appointments it becomes annoying and thought of as a reminder. read more

I always thought discomfort and sore gums were expected during and after cleanings, but definitely not the case here. Dr. Sok is very knowledgeable and never appears to be bothered by my numerous questions. When I got some cavities filled, she was very thorough and made sure I was doing okay throughout. I have really enjoyed my experience at Great Falls and Reston Family Dentistry! I've had my cousin as my dentist for years and when he retired I was nervous about my first dentist experience without him. Great Falls Dentistry made the transition very easy and I felt very comfortable, well taken care of, listened to and never rushed. The care team walked me through all steps of the procedures and made me feel very at ease with everything happening. Front staff is amazing, too...very friendly and informative! On my first visit I had x-rays taken of my teeth and was walked through my care plan and the options I have for Invisalign and repairing a chipped tooth. On a return visit, Dr. Lam was amazing with my filling (first one ever!) and made me feel very comfortable and supported through the whole process since I was so nervous! He was quick and also very kind. He also took the time to speak to me about what else I may want to do with my teeth - Invisalign and repairs. He was incredibly knowledgeable! I used to be terrified of going to the dentist and it gave me so much anxiety, especially the Novocaine shots, but Dr. Sok is incredibly gentle with her shots and will distract you. I have to say, I was VERY impressed by the advancement of the technology they use in their profession. They made my last dentist seem like he was in the dark ages. I used to go to Dr. Alayssami office in Herndon for my all dental needs (2004-2009), and since I had no other dentists to compare to, I thought it was normal to be painful during cleaning and such, and I completely trusted them ( they def sold me lots of things which I found out later on that I don't need GASP!) Couple of years ago, I decided to finally change my primary dentist to Dr. Sok ( at the time she was practicing in Fair Oaks which was close to where I worked) and seriously, I have been missing out! Instead of hygienist, Dr. Sok perform the routine cleaning, and she's the only one that does heck of a job without making my gum bleed everywhere. I noticed that she's wearing this magnifying glasses thing, whereas the hygienists (two from Dr. Alayssami office) never wore such a thing, and made my gum bleed every time I get my cleaning done. And when Dr. Alayssami office always pushed me to get stuff done for my teeth, Dr. Sok gives very honest opinions. For instance, my former dentist would tell me that I need many fillings done and that they were really pushing me to get the most expensive filling, whereas Dr. Sok took a look at the same, and told me that there's an issue, but not so serious and that we will just see over time if i really need something (and i haven't needed anything for a couple of years, and doing just fine) I went to her new office in Great Falls in December 2012 for a routine cleaning and check up, and the office is really nice with all brand new equipments and everything! If you want a dentist that's knowledgable, honest, and actually cares for patients, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Dr. Sok! :) read more

Update: had a (non-impacted) wisdom tooth pulled here. last time i had a tooth pulled was about 20 years ago and it left me with some horrible memories. needless to say i was a bit nervous for this wisdom tooth that needed to be removed. i was more than adequately numbed for the whole procedure, Dr. Sok asked frequently if i felt any pain. after a few minutes of loosening, the tooth eventually just came out with ease. i was given very good detailed post-procedure instructions along with a baggie of gauze to help with the bleeding. just had my 1-week check up and things are looking great! couldn't be more pleased with picking Dr. Sok, Dr. Pham and their office! read more

I recently moved to Reston from Arlington and knew I was due for a check-up at the dentist. I can easily say that going to the dentist is my least favorite thing, so it certainly wasn't on the top of my list of things to do. I received a mailer from Great Falls Family Dentistry and after reading other Yelper reviews- I decided to try them. Dr. Sok was still on maternity leave so her husband, Dr. Pham took care of me. He is by far the best dentist I have ever had. He was gentle, knowledgeable, and relatable. The facility is clean and all of the equipment seems state of the art- the chairs even have massagers! I came to this doctor when they were in Fairfax and LOVED them. Dr. Sok is second to none. However they need to re-evaluate their front staff. Being the face of the business the interaction I had with the woman (actually pictured in the first photo on this yelp page) left a lot to be desired. I had called before hand letting them know I would be late. When I arrived I gave her my insurance card as well as ID, filled out the necessary paperwork and waited. She proceeded to call my primary insurance - who then told her they only covered "accidental" dental needs. Which to my surprise (since I pay every month for dental) made no sense. She then asked if I was under another insurance and I said no I don't believe so, she then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to do their new patient deal for $189 or something like that and I said no because I know I have insurance I'll have to figure it out. Now what's astonishing is, they have the capability to look you up by your name and SSN to find your insurance, which she didn't offer to do. Also, as I'm leaving, she made sure to say "give us a call when you get insurance!". Anyone would have taken that the wrong way. Considering how far I drove, and me taking off work for this appointment I would have expected a little more effort on your companies end. Like I said before, the doctor is great, the front staff however - this review is for you. Learn customer service, you're not a doctor, so learning how to interact properly with customers shouldn't be surgery, right? read more
