I have been to 3 different dentist in the Tyson's area, and I must say, Dr. Sanati is hands down the most sophisticated and professional dentist that I have been to. His staff is of course professional, but even more impressive than that is the technology that he uses. He has a specific dental laser that allows him to fill certain cavities without needing to numb your mouth. Also, I needed an inlay for one of my teeth and he was one of the few dentist that was capable of such procedure. That all being said, I highly recommend Tyson's Dentistry! read more

Rude front office staff + double dipping practices where they just went ahead and decided on treatment for a minor without obtaining my permission and then billed both me and my insurance. They were trying to bill me for missed or late appointments too. They told one of my children he had all his adult teeth and no baby teeth (after cray) and another dentist said he still had a baby tooth. They would not refund me until I reported them to my health insurance. Don't waste your time and money. Predatory practices. read more

[2023 update] Ten years later, our family still loves Tysons Dentistry. My review from 2013 still stands: the staff at this practice are excellent, the dentist is focused on preventative care, and wait times are minimal to nonexistent. The hygienist, Masha, is skilled and friendly. And Dr. Sanati is wonderful. I recently had to get a cracked tooth fixed and he and his dental assistant made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole procedure. After having tried two other dentists in the Arlington and McLean areas, I am happy to say I finally found a place that is clean, respectful, efficient, and that I enjoy. There is plenty of free covered parking and the building is easy to access (see pictures). Everyone at the front desk has been courteous and communicative via email and phone to ensure everything is in order for each visit. I appreciate how quick they are to respond and attentive to each detail. Dr. Ardalan Sanati replaced an old filling that had a few openings and it was a smooth and quick process. He was efficient and responsive to my needs, checking on me frequently to ensure I was fine. What was really special was he took me back to discuss how the filling was custom designed and created within minutes to perfectly fill the opening in my tooth. That was a unique experience and was quite intriguing! The technology is state of the art and it was satisfying to see the filling being made in real time with porcelain and not having to wait for a lab scan or putty to set. It's hard finding a good dentist in the DMV area and I came across Tysons Dentistry on a google search. The office and reviews seemed good and although they are almost an hour away from me I make the drive to go see them. They are thorough and do not try to scam you like other dentists. I have been a patient of Tysons Dentistry for well over 10 years. The thorough care is well worth the drive from Old Town Alexandria. I typically see Dr. Sanati, but I have also seen Dr. Shahram in the past. Both are great. All support staff are friendly, welcoming, and efficient. I have received a wide range of cosmetic (whitening and Invisalign), urgent, general, and routine services from this practice, and I have never had a bad experience. Drs Sanati and Shahram are conservative with their care. They have never once upsold me or encouraged me to agree to unnecessary care. I was one of those people that avoided going to the dentist for as long as I can. I made an appointment online over the weekend and received a phone call early Monday morning. I like that this office has the ease of making an appointment via the internet, and also corresponded with me via email because I'm not always able to pickup the phone. The office itself is extremely clean, plus there are TVs for you to watch during your procedure. The staff is very friendly, and Dr. Sanati was the best dentist that I've ever met! He explained everything thoroughly so I would understand, and told me that he enjoys saving teeth more than making money. I loved his "chase your passion, not your pay" attitude! All of the equipment is very technologically advanced and modern. The location was a little hard to find at first, but it is tucked in a complex with other office buildings, Subway, and a hair salon. I was recommended to this office by my boyfriend he's been going here for more than 5 years. The first time I went for a cleaning I admitted they were good. The didn't try to sell me any extras. Then they rescheduled me to change some old fillings and explained why those needed to be changed. This is my second visit. Instead of drilling they use laser which I must say it's SUPER fast. I have had some many filings in my past and I scheduled 3 hours to be back at work. Well they did 4 fillings in less than 30 minutes. It's fast and painless. Beware - I was told I had 3 cavities within the 2 years I went to this dentist. I haven't had cavities in 20 years. By the 3rd time, I got a second opinion and was told I DO NOT need a filling as recommended by Tysons Dentistry. Also, the 2nd filling they did was so bad my tooth cracked as they drilled out too much. My current dentist had to fix it all. I used to hate to go to the dentist until I started to see this husband and wife team in tysons. They are the most friendly, gentle, accomodating dentists I have ever seen. Not to mention they care about getting involved in the community and with charities. The office is tucked off of route 7 just before the toll road. I am the type of person who is extremely fearful of the dentist and I've had many bad experiences growing up. However, I must say that I will never go to another dentist other than Tysons Dentistry. I told them how nervous I was and everyone was so wonderful and patient with me. They let me watch some TV and hold a stress ball and even their hand! They walked me through all of the steps (I had to get a couple cavities filled) and reassured me that everything would be fine! And it was! I just visited Dr. Sanati for my cleaning and some dental work. I have never had such a pleasant experience at the dentist. He was very aware of my nervousness around the injection. It was the best experience I have ever had at the dentist and I've been having dental work since I was a child. Donya and Jecica are also very attentive and kind. The dental hygienist was also very efficient and thorough. I have had to change my appointments several times with no issues. Of course, you should treat it like any doctor/dentist appointment, and cancel within a reasonable timeframe. I went in today for a treatment as a new patient. The office is neat and clean. I was greeted with a smile and a handshake. The wait time was extremely short although I arrived much earlier than scheduled. The staff including Angela and Jessica were extremely nice and welcoming. The hygienist Martha was both knowledgeable and courteous. The treatment took longer than we expected but she was very patient. The doctor was friendly and provided some advise for future treatments. I've been visiting Dr.Shahram for dental cleanings for two years. The cleaning work has always been good. However, something happened recently has changed my opinion. I did a dental cleaning at my orthodontist's office (which also offers general teeth cleaning) in April 2018, and my second cleaning was at Tysons Dentistry in August 2018. As I left that day, the coordinator informed me that I have another free cleaning for this year and asked me if I want to schedule it. I was pretty confused as I knew I had already done two cleanings this year. Just one of them was not at Tysons Dentistry. The coordinator said "yes. If you go back to the other office, you would be charged, but if you stay with us, you still have another free cleaning". Although I was confused, I trusted the coordinator knew what she was doing and went ahead and scheduled my third cleaning in December. And guess what, I received a $70+ bill in March 2019 saying that my third cleaning was not covered by my insurance. I was pretty upset and called the office about his issue. The receptionist told me that she was not sure who told me I had another free cleaning, but ultimately patients have to be responsible for checking and making sure their insurance covers the expense. Sounds like they are not responsible at all. It's funny. If it wasn't them, who would pay for a cleaning knowing that it's not covered. It's not like I need that many cleanings in a year. I told her that I know people's insurance varies, but It's misleading to tell people that they have free cleanings without being sure that these expenses are definitely covered. She told me that she would ask the office manager and get back to me. Never heard back since then. I am not happy with how the office handled this matter. Have cancelled my next appointment and will not come back. read more

I would give this dental practice zero stars, but that option was not available. My wife and I were patients at this practice for several years and I was dismissed as a patient year after I questioned the Dr. on the frequency of my X-rays and other aspects of my care. I was sent a priority mail letter saying he was dismissing me as a patient. I recently went to a new dentist and he stated I needed several treatments on teeth I never knew I had problems with. He also asked why he only took Xrays every other year. My recommendation is to not let the office's sexy Tyson location make you think they are practicing great dentistry. Ask about Xray and cleaning frequency and don't get sold on work you may not need. They also hound you about appointments and are merciless in changing them! They were very unprofessional when I was dismissed from them as a patient and I felt it was because I started asking questions. read more

Before I went to Tysons to see Dr. Sanati for the first time in December 2015 I had not been to the dentist in 7 years. I was nervous, because of the expense and the general embarrassment about those 7 years, but Dr. Sanati and his staff were fantastic. They gave me estimates for all of the work (which seemed reasonably priced), and he explained at each step along the way what he was doing. I was really happy with my experience, and even more so when last Friday night a really old filling came out. I thought my tooth was disintegrating and I totally panicked! Their website said they offered emergency care, so I went ahead and called, thinking I'd have to wait until Monday. Instead, Dr. Sanati met me first thing Saturday morning (on his weekend!) to assess and do a temporary fix. Overall, amazing experiences so far and I couldn't be happier!! Dr. Sanati is the Platonic ideal of dentists. If I could give him and his team 100 stars, I would. I came to the practice about six months ago, suffering from pain that prevented me from chewing on my right side. Much to my dismay, I had multiple cavities to fill and, as if that wasn't enough, the teeth on my right side were cracking from pressure caused by misalignment. Dr. Sanati told me what I absolutely didn't want to hear--that I should consult with an orthodontist (he recommended the wonderful Dr. Ibrahim Y. Alhussain of Tysons West Orthodontics) and may need braces. Dr. Sanati and his team set me up on a reasonably paced schedule to resolve my cavities, he explained things every step of the way, and took particular care to ensure that my bite was correct following the fillings. I'm now three months into my orthodontics treatment and Dr. Sanati was absolutely spot-on in his recommendation: I can chew on both sides, pain-free, and my chronic grinding problems are going away. I never say this about doctors, but I feel like he genuinely cares about his patients and making their teeth better. He doesn't rush you, takes the time to directly answer your questions and is responsive to any concerns. His office staff is absolutely wonderful, as well. The hygienist is an absolute wonder--thorough, sensitive to any irritation or pain you might be experiencing, personable--just top-notch. The front office team is equally great and very pleasant. I have been going to Dr Sanati's practice for a year now and I had a follow for a filling which was painless, he asked me if I had dry mouth as I wake up in the morning. I was shocked when asked the question, he provided preventive solutions and also explained in details the problems it may cause in future if I don't follow these easy procedures. The button line is that I have been going to other dentists for years and I have mentioned that personally and nobody ever told me anything and provided any preventive solution. As always office is spotless and friendly staff and family oriented. I was recently referred to Tyson's Dentistry by my wife. She told me nothing but positive things about them - such as a clean office, friendly staff and painless procedures. Last year i had a very bad experience at another dentistry near my house. It was painful and no one mentioned i had issues with my gums. Next week will be my 4th appointment with Tyson's Dentistry.
