In December I had a different HVAC company out for a service, since Home Air Defender was not returning calls and the other HVAC company stated the unit was not registered and has no warranty and I would need to pay for the parts and all labor. I decided to contact the original installer which is Home Air Defender to see if there was a warranty and if not, why wasn't it ever registered. And if it was registered it would be within the limited warranty period. After several calls and messages left. I was able to get a hold of a woman who stated that she was a partner and would put me in though with the owner (Ralph) since he did the install. The owner did contact me and I sent him text messages of the pictures model/serial number he asked for so he could check on the warranty. Since then, 7 weeks ago he stopped responding. Since it was relatively cool outside for the time, I didn't worry about it too much as i'd just wait for Ralph to contact me back for 4 weeks. I decided to start calling his office 2 weeks ago to get an appointment through them, in which they state they would reach out to Ralph for me. Since, then as of Feb 7th, the office no longer picks up my phone calls nor does Ralph respond form his cell phone number. All calls go to the answering service.

He came out and looked it over and ended up replacing the capacitor (it had 2 smaller non factory) and a hard start. He replaced it with the factory capacitor for less than $200 and low and behold the AC worked just fine. This was in July it is now November and still running fine. His honesty and willingness to inform us of everything he was doing was a light at the end of an expensive tunnel. We keep his cards with us so that we can help others in need. Just call Ralph, the "Leader of Integrity" in his industry. As for us, we won't call anyone else.

I offered $300. He had to call it into the manager and they got back with $500. I told them no and still had to pay a $50 service charge. I hired another licensed plumber who charged me $200. I loved working with this company when it was run by the father, but the son has taken over and is clearly greedy. I did thousands of dollars of business with them and will never call them or recommend them again. They pray on people and try to bilk them for as much money as they can get. While the installation itself went smoothly, I recently discovered that the unit was never registered for its manufacturer warranty. This was extremely disappointing because Trane systems typically offer up to 10 years of warranty coverage when properly registered by the installer. Unfortunately, because the system was not registered, it is now out of warranty, and the repair costs fall entirely on me--even though the unit failed at only 9 1/2 years old. I wasn't aware that the registration hadn't been completed and had assumed the installer handled this step as he did with the upstairs AC he installed, as many reputable HVAC companies do. Learning about the missing registration only after the failure has been frustrating and costly.
