I had a very disappointing experience with Scottie's Cooling & Air. On 04/20, I contacted them because my AC had stopped working. The receptionist took my address and phone number, and a technician called shortly afterward to say he was on his way. After diagnosing the issue, I was told the capacitor needed to be replaced, and I approved the repair. When the work was completed, I attempted to pay, but the technician told me someone from the office would contact me to collect payment. No one ever called, and I never received an invoice until last week, when I suddenly received a past-due notice. Then yesterday, my AC stopped working again. I called Scottie's Cooling & Air hoping they would come back out. The on-call technician informed me that he could not service my unit because there was an outstanding balance on the account. I explained that I was willing to pay the balance immediately, along with any charges for the new service call, because I urgently needed my AC repaired. He said he needed to speak with his boss and would call me back. He never did. So I contacted Cool Today, who I highly recommend. Their technician inspected my unit and informed me that there was no capacitor installed at all. I explained that Scottie's had supposedly replaced it during the previous service call. He stated that the unit had been running without a capacitor and that continued operation could have caused significant damage to the entire AC system. Today, Scott, the owner, called me and explained that because they had allegedly tried to contact me multiple times regarding the unpaid balance, they had removed the capacitor and written off the balance. The problem is that the phone number they were using belonged to my late husband. I had previously informed them of the correct contact number, so it is not my fault that they continued calling the wrong number. They also claimed they mailed an invoice last week, which I did receive, but it had only been about a week before they decided to remove the part. Additionally, they stated that a technician had come to my home to notify me about the balance. I work during the day, no one was home, and no note was left on the door. What concerns me most is that a technician apparently entered my property and removed equipment from my AC unit without my knowledge, permission, or consent. At no point was I notified that they intended to return and remove the capacitor, and I was never given an opportunity to resolve the balance before they took that action. Finding out from another company that a component had been removed from my system was shocking and extremely upsetting. The lack of communication, failure to use the correct contact information, entering my property to remove equipment without my authorization, and the potential risk of damage to my AC system have left me extremely dissatisfied. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Scottie's Cooling & Air. read more

Great HVAC company! This is my second experience using Scott HVAC and both were fantastic experiences. Firs time was due to out of propane gas after returning from winter break in Texas. Justin showed up late at night and quickly got to the roost cause. NO GAS . He got all info to get emergency gas delivery that night, and got me going. Second service March 2026 Justin , again came to the rescue, bad heat exchanger, got it ordered, under warranty, replaced if while I was in Florida. Can't say enough for Justin and Scott s HVAC. I have to say that in regards to having Scotties do work for me. I did not but as an observing neighbor of Simone that did I have a few things to say. Not a fan of people that spit, don't have names but the tall lanky one spit on the sidewalk on the way out. Also on cleaning out an air handler they left insulation on the parking lot. I mentioned this to the tall one and have to say he was polite and respectful. He said the would clean it up, so we will see what happens. read more

Having a 1983 home with the original ductwork system in it it was wore out after getting several estimates on this job. I decided to go with Scotty's cooling and heating. Scheduled the work for January 9, 2024 they showed up and did the two day project, which included cleaning the AC coil out from the air handler Rebuilding the air intake box and complete new ductwork job finished . air conditioner working fine, great -good service -kept communication all the time -everything was good. forward to January 24 ,2024 went to turn the AC unit on and it would not run previously we had not used it because we had a cold snap . called them, They were out within 45 minutes. Discovered the problem -informed me of what needed to be done to fix. It had nothing to do with her previous service, which I completely understand as I have a mechanical attitude fixed the problem , we're good to go again. excellent service highly recommend them,( sidenote) in a situation as this listen to the technician, try to be understanding and just don't say well, It worked fine before you guys showed the first time, problems will develop that are unrealted to the previous work, thank you Scotty's cooling and heating. 100% recommend this company. 5 st Doug Wiebelhaus read more

Scotties Cooling and Heating charged me 480.00 for 2 hours of labor to replace two parts covered by my warranty. I was not informed beforehand of the price of this labor charge. They did the repair on the unit outside. I was told that I did not need to be home when this repair was done. I was not called to be informed beforehand as to what needed to be done other than that there was a leak. Again, I never saw the leak. I think that the company had a responsibility to inform me what needed to be replaced and how much it was going to cost and then to proceed once given my approval .Charging 480,00 for two hours labor is price gouging and taking advantage of a senior citizen. On the advice of a friend, I called Scottie's Cooling & Heating because the fan in our system was running constantly. Nothing I did could make it stop. Joe, Scottie's son, showed up within two hours of my phone call. Two other companies had already told me, because the system is 15 years old, we should not waste money on repairs and just buy a whole new one. Joe checked the system out. Then he decided the problem was limited to the circuit board. In fairness, one of the other guys said the same, but he wanted well over $300 to replace the circuit board with a new one. Joe said something like, "Why do you want a circuit board?" He proceeded to tell me -- as the best man from our wedding had already said -- a whole lot of that board is redundant and unnecessary. Because Bernie had already prepared me for that, I let Joe go ahead. My heart sank a little when he tore the board out and then started attacking the wiring harness. There were a lot of cut wires on the floor. Joe then went out to his truck and brought in a couple different kinds of relay switches. He reconnected the necessary wires to those switches. That was it. Everything is working the way it should, and our AC is plenty cold. Best of all is the silence, after a week of the blower motor running night and day. For a finale, Joe redirected one wire inside the mounting base for our fancy thermostat. He handed me the batteries and said we will never have to worry about them going dead or becoming corroded, because the thermostat is now hard wired. Then he said Scotties believes in only one maintenance call each year, so he will see us in the spring. It will cost less than half of what we've been paying for an "annual contract" that involved two service calls. Joe's solution turned out far better than spending $5-7K for a system we don't yet need. Needless to say, we will be calling Scottie's next spring. UPDATE: As of today's date, 10/22/2018, our AC system is running like a fine tuned engine. --DL read more
