I called Blue Bear to help me install two new smart thermostats in my home. They sent Barry out the same day and the install was a success. The home is 38 years old and in the process of the install, he did a thorough inspection of the air handlers and found a couple of items that are not up to code or nearing failure. I had an issue with water coming from A/C unit in garage. It happens on Sunday and I immediately went online an booked an appointment for Monday 11-2. Received a text from Larry Murphy and a phone call with a time to expect him and he was there on time. Once at the house he started to trouble shoot our problem. He was so patient with me constantly asking questions. He had a few baffling moments trying to figure out our issue. Once he did he quickly corrected the problem and continued to explain to me what he was doing. Once he completed the job he then went around the garage and cleaned up the floor that had become really wet and put things back in place that he needed to move to do the job. I have hired Blue Bear on multiple occasions. The most recent job was running a propane gas line. It was difficult finding someone in the area that was both reasonable in price and knowledgeable. I am very fortunate to have found Blue Bear Plumbing. James was the one who worked at my house. He was professional and very nice. At one point, James realized that he had possibly underbid the job, but he was true to his word and honored the agreed upon price. We've been with same air conditioner repair company for years. Our coils froze so we called said unnamed company. They came out and said we may need our coils replaced. This company installed our A/C and, ever since, this system has been giving us problems multiple times a year. After some research, I decided to call another company. Barry from Blue Bear came out and conducted a very thorough evaluation. He laid out all of our options clearly and showed us pictures and discovered our whole house filter wasn't changed by the previous company for a very long time, even though we have a maintenance plan. Less than a year ago, we had this company replace our ducts and needless to say, it wasn't cheap. Recently we had some issues with rodents and had them come out to look at the damage and possibly fix the problem. The first time they came out they sent a guy who could not fit through the attic door and only poked his head in. This was even after they were told it was the ducts in the attic that needed to be looked at. The following week they sent another guy who went into the attic took one picture that showed us one rodent hole and said, "well, they all have to be replaced because of the rats" and "oh, and you're lucky because we can do it for the same price as last year, $8600, even though each duct has gone up by $150 since then". He also said he couldn't honor any type of warranty because the damage was due to rodents. Oh really?!!! So we called a couple of other companies who took more than one pictures and basically, yes, there were some rodent holes but most of the damage was from the ducts being pulled, ripped and torn during the last install. Moreover, the ducts weren't trimmed and fitted properly, were not sealed or taped up, were not lifted off the ground and lastly, they (meaning Blue Bears crew who originally installed our ducts less than a year ago) left their trash and used up supplies in our attic. Before allowing this company (or any other for that matter) work in an area you can't see or go through like an attic, make sure to get before and after pictures of every item they say needs fixing or is fixed. We wasted $8600 on an inept install and then they wanted to gouged us again and never supplied us with a quote and pictures as promised. I want to thank the other companies who showed us pictures of what really happened and thank the company who came out and fixed our problem for $350. read more
