Came here after a concert & was not disappointed!…read more PS I just started eating red meat about 2 months ago. What drew me was the potato onion bun. What kept me as a now repeat customer is self-serve ketchup, mustard etc, and the burger comes with a very sad 1/8 slice of pickle. But it's dill pickle so a little grace. Give bigger pickles!!! For me, I abhor any "house sauce" on burgers bc it's either 1000 island or chipotle mayo. Nope! I want my burger classic w ketchup, mustard, pickle. Bonus if I get lettuce & tomato. Well, they give you baby butter lettuce & tomato as well as "Rock sauce" (nope) and raw onion (nope). The burger was really thick: I'm guessing 1/3lb. It was made to order & took a LOOOONG time bc my friend ordered bacon on her burger (bacon takes a long time to crisp up on a flattop). But kudos on making everything to order! They give you a "side of fries" which was too much for me to eat, but equivalent to a fast food small. The bonus is skin on fries!!! Plus the condiment tower has ketchup, mustard, Asian hot sauce (NOTE: we need western hot sauce: I recommend Tapatio), malt vinegar, regular vinegar, Wing's plum sauce (IYKYK), and soy sauce. I didn't snap a pic as I was starving, but know it was delicious & filling. Delicious bc I cut up my pickle & put it in the burger...I don't know why so many burger places don't understand the savoury/tangy contrast of beef & dill pickles & why it's necessary (along with mustard to give savoury & tang, but then the sweetness of ketchup. It's simple & classic!) ...but I'm SOOO happy they had mustard packets!!! I went through 7 on my burger & fries (no ketchup on fries, only mustard!). I'm giving 5/5 bc burger was made-to-order (tho they should have asked how well you liked it cooked). There are a few missteps, but I think the quality was there. Yes, I had to custom it using the condiment tower, but that does not take away from trying this place! Come for the burger, stay for the gaming! LOL

First time here and all i can say is that this must be the top tier of all DIY hotpot chains. I've…read moretried them all in richmond and this place is my top choice yes, it's a bit pricey, and the toppings are fewer than the bigger chains, but the quality of the choices and most importantly the broth is superior. We tried the pork broth, the hk chicken soup, and the tomato. All very very good. The HK chicken broth was so good. On a rainy foggy day, it was good for the soul. So flavourful. Self serve condiments/sauce bar with freshly chopped ingridients. Unlimited kimchi and salted peanuts and Preserved veggies...and unlimited free ice cream with charcoal cone too. The price is a bit higher as it's pegged at 50g compared to 100g. Place look elegant inside for a DIY hotpot. Also for every $18...u get free chicken wings or plum juice or Chinese burger.. Service quick and efficient. Free water and hot tea and bougie take out boxes. Awesome experience. Cheers. Happy eating!

(Spend $18+ & get a free item, such as: a Chinese-style Burger, chicken wings, dessert, or drinks) I've been here 4x already in the past 2 months, & I initially loved the Malaysian Laksa broth. Unfortunately on my 3rd & 4th visits, the laksa broth was a little stale (sour) & the ingredients didn't taste so fresh. I may still return for the delicious Chinese burger & the crispy chicken wings sides, but I'll have to try different broths & ingredients next time.

Do people in 2024 wish for the nostalgia of the 1950s?…read more Do today's TikTok bunch long for the 1950s? Or perhaps better yet, should I be asking - are people today craving burgers from 74 years ago? After all Johnny Rockets, came to town for a few years then suddenly up & left. I have fallen in love with Smash Burgers over the recent few years due to the high quality offerings of some really prime burger joints throughout Metro Vancouver. See my pix & review & look for Burger Crush, Mozza Burger, Blaze Gourmet Burgers, etcetera. Upon walking into 50s Burger, I was wowed by the decor & art. However, there was no music playing from the old juke box inside the restaurant. How can you not have the 50's hits of Buddy Holly, The Drifters, The Everly Brothers, Brenda Lee, Fats Domino & even Elvis playing in the background? Service was friendly & welcoming. The burgers, fries & shakes however, need some serious attention & work! To be honest if I compare the offerings here to other burger joints, it would be a bad matchup. The burger lacked that certain umph you'd expect after each bite. The fries did not excite me. Compared against the thin cut fries at Burger Crush & there's no competition The shakes we had were just ok - nothing special. Again for comparison sakes - try the Choc Shake at Crush Burger. I hope things turn around here sooner than later. Throughout Metro Vancouver, businesses & espacially restaurants are having a hard go at it. You must bring your A+ game into this business if you are to survive. I would seriously encourage those running 50s Burgers, to check out the competition!
