This tiny cafe is decorated nicely with antiques. Service is great and it has a nice homely atmosphere. Food is ok. Didn't quite blow us away. We shared the calamari to start followed by oxtail, pasta, sablefish, lamb chops and pork chops shared. Everything was as expected but the prices are on the fine dining end with most dishes $40+ each. Might come back for brunch but it was pricey for a casual dinner.

4 of us attended this cafe in Richmond. I strongly suggest reservations at least for the weekend. It was very busy and loud and small. Ambiance is really nice. Appears to be set for a younger crowd but the older crowd was well represented. The one downfall was tables were very close together. Drinks came quickly so no complaints there. First up was the charcuterie to share cheese board. The bread was warm and very tasteful. Only 3 types of cheese and the veggies were very short in amount. Not worth the high price. Next was the main course. 2 of us ordered beef parpparddelle. Very tastey. Came in a bowl and lots of it. A cafe highlight dish. The duck breast looked fantastic and cooked perfectly. The last one was the beef Wellington. The meat was tender and tasted really good. Dessert is rather boring, lava cake and crème brûlée and tiramisu which I'm not fond of. In all a very nice place but not quite worth 4 stars but 3 1/2

Fall Special: maple bread pudding 10/10

Was my first time visiting a story cafe, our favorite of my parents, and I did not disappoint Upon walking in the casual experience really welcoming and quirky. We made a dinner reservation which I recommend do...some folks tried to do walk ins and the weight were given a 1.5-2 hour wait. Every item we ordered was stellar. Rock star items were the seasonal slow cooked ribs and bread pudding. Both soups we got (clam chowder and mushroom) were 10/10. The portions for everything were quite generous and we left very full and happy Timothy, our server, was awesome...attentive, kind and funny. I'm going to use his "I hope your meal is soup-er!" pun for sure. Will try to come back to try their brunch items, since they come highly recommended too.

I'd give this place a 3.5 rating for brunch. Haven't tried their dinner, which may change the rating if we decide to come back. Pros: free street parking (or paid lot across the st), variety of food selection, friendly staff, good playlist (at least on the day we went), and dog friendly. Cons: wait times can be long (we waited almost an hr on a Sunday), small venue (but patio was open), food tasted average for a brunch place. We ordered the burger, steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, clam chowder (best tasting dish by far!), and the truffle and mushroom omelette. Based on these, I'm not sure what the hype is about, but we may come back for dinner at a later time.

The Story Café has been a regular staple in our brunch planning. Been coming here for the past 4 years and always enjoyed the food and service. In the summer, we enjoy the patio, and it's also dog friendly. However, this summer, the patio was undergoing renovations so limited seating. There are always line-ups during brunch time. 30 mins is the longest I have waited but worth it. Interior is cozy with wood and industrial fixtures. My friends and I usually order our regulars like Egg in Purgatory (this is the only dish my friend orders), Fried Chicken and Waffles, "My Way" and their Bennies. All seasoned well and cooked to our liking. You get free coffee refills when you order their regular coffee. I have not been there for their Happy Hour or dinner so I must try one of these days. Parking on side streets around the Café. Note, when the Richmond Nigh Market is on in the summertime, parking can be crazy around the Café so planning accordingly. Walking distance from Canada Line at Bridgeport Station-from south west direction of the bus loop just follow pathway formed by the yellow concrete dividers

Great happy hour selection pf small eateries and fantastic and highly attentive service. The prices were also reasonable for the quality of the food served. The ambiance is new and appealing. As a traveling couple we were both happy with our meal and drinks.

Great food and environment but quite pricey (though what brunch place isn't? ) ! Came at 11am and was able to order things from the brunch (8am-2:45pm) and lunch (11am-12:45pm) menus. The patio seating was open when we went, which doubled the size of the restaurant and meant no wait for seating! When I visited previously, I had to wait 30-60mins for just indoor seating. I got the Savory breakfast bowl while my three friends got the "My Way" brunch plate. We also shared appetizers from the lunch menu: calamari, chicken wings, and bacon jam. Two friends ordered chai lattes and the art was beautiful and different for each cup! You must try the bacon jam!!! It is umami and savoury, with sweetness from caramelized onions. I wish the dish was served with more bread to spread, as the ratio of bread to jam was off. But thankfully it paired well with our dishes so we were able to enjoy the bacon jam with our potatoes and waffles etc. Another suggestion would be if it could come as a side to dip/try with our meals rather than as an appetizer. The wings and calamari looked average. I was too full to try them and my friends didn't share much in particular about those dishes. The savoury breakfast bowl tasted fresh and colourful. As a shrimp lover, I was so impressed by the size of the shrimp! It was only odd to me trying to eat the cold shrimp and avocado along with the hot bowl of potato, mushroom, and eggs. I ended up just dipping the shrimp in the cocktail sauce and eating it on the side. I would love to try a rendition of the bowl with garlic butter/Cajun sauteed shrimp rather than have them cold. My friends raved about how crispy the waffles were on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It looked super delicious. I will come back next time to try it! The Story doesn't have any parking, so you do have to find street parking. There were a few spots which offered 2h free parking, or you can find more free parking a bit further down Sexsmith Rd.

This restaurant came recommended by a friend so I brought my family here for New Years Eve and what an incredible experience it was! The first thing I noticed and appreciated was the varied price points available on the menu-there were items starting around $20, up to $100+ if you have a higher budget. This makes this restaurant super accessible for dining with friends with different budgets! We ordered the pork chop, the duck breast, a pizza and a pasta as well as an appetizer and desserts for everyone as well! Every single item exceeded our expectations and blew our minds! The presentation was spectacular, the flavour profiles were genius... I will say, I've never spent this much on one dining excursion but I would do it again and again-not a single regret! Our server was kind and knowledgeable of the ingredients and the great customer service was the icing on the cake! If we lived in Vancouver, I would absolutely visit on a monthly basis!!

Everything I ordered was great with the exception of the risotto which was super rich for me. The service was great and the place had a cozy vibe to it . The highlight for me was the foie gras ! It was to die for. Scored , seasoned and seared perfectly.

Very friendly service, we ordered takeouts as this place is full and needed to go quick. This is the diners choice restaurant gotta try. I got a croissant and blueberry danish. My daughter got the story bagel, son the savory breakfast as the staff said it's one of the most popular. We were t ok d 15 minutes for prep. This place is not too loud, people relaxing Sunday morning breakfast. I think this is Korean restaurant but most staff on the floor are not. The price is competitive. The quality of the food is really good and fresh. I liked all very much with not overpowering flavor. My son thinks lack of flavor. My croissant and the danish too were really fresh, just not what I like as it was not crispy out. But overall really good.

    Fly Me to the Bennies
    Elvis N.

Cute cafe located in a more industrial area part of town. It's busy during dinner so a reservation's definitely recommended. Tried to go for dinner and they said it's a 2 hour wait. Walk-ins ideally are from 9-5. Ended up coming back for brunch the next morning cuz I was curious of the hype. I ordered the Fly Me to the Bennies -- which is a standard eggs Benedict on English muffins. Poached eggs, choice of meat (I got bacon), a small side of fruit, and a side of smashed potatoes. I ended up adding a side of sausage to get some extra protein in and a latte to wash it all down. It's a very average pricy brunch. Nothing spectacular, food came out a bit cold, not warm. Latte was also served almost room temp. Service is pretty hands-off. My favorite thing was probably the chorizo sausage. I thought I was playing it safe with the Bennies, but it ended up being too safe. Might get the fried chicken and waffles if I were to come back. Fundamentals need some work. 3/5 average not bad.

It was quite busy but they were fast to have people seated and have the 1 hour 30 min table limit. Large drinks + wine menu if you ask for it. We sat on the patio but it is enclosed and has heaters. It is a cozy space with many decorations. My eggs Benedict was tasty , eggs cooked perfectly , came with a small bowl of fruit and crispy potatoes.

Still one of the best breakfast areas in Richmond that I always visit and recommend to friends. Aside from its unique ambience, the food selections are also great. Since I've been here many times, I always expect a 30-minute to an hour wait to avoid disappointment, especially on weekends.

The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Alas, we had reservations at Lunch Lady up the street. We should have stayed at Odd Society. Lunch Lady was a disappointment. Try Odd Society out as both a distillery and cocktail bar. You won't be disappointed about either one.

I have a friend who loves to drink so when he was back in town, I bookmarked this place to bring…read morehim to as I saw many great reviews and pictures. In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.
