They took out additional fees that I was not expecting. Additionally, I am not sure how well they advertised the auction. I felt that some of the buyers were buying the stuff only to sell it at the Mensendiek Sunday Auctions. If this is the case, Mensendiek profited twice from the items in the house. I guess they get more this way rather than promoting the auctions. I am in Indy area and thought it would be good to get someone local. One of my neighbors did this and hired an Indy company. They had over 150 people buying and bidding. I recommend doing research and seeing how successful the auctions are before hiring a company in this industry. I would have been better to hire the Indy company given they cover the state. I will say the staff was very nice and friendly.

We have dropped donation items off at this location several times in the past few years and…read moreappreciate how easy it is, as well as the mission of this business. There are several locations, and this one is located in the Hamburg area near Tractor Supply as a landmark. The drop off is on the right hand side of the building and can pull up and employees will collect the donated goods. They have signage directing where to enter the single drop off lane. There are also posted signs listing what can and cannot be donated. Staff are polite and helpful. I have not been inside the building or made a purchase to this point, so I cannot comment on that aspect of this business. I do know that the mission statement has been to sell donated items and then to utilize those funds to assist victims of abuse, which has our support 100%. (Side note: I also choose to donate here rather than at another specific well known charitable drop-off site which has high prices and high administrative costs, resulting in less funds going to the people it claims to serve.)

However, my first (and last) experience at Minor Auctions was terrible. The very small, Sunday afternoon auction had a few consigners as well as some leftover estate items from previous sales. I was interested in purchasing a bed, so I let her know so it could be auctioned earlier on in the sale. She was very nice and agreed to do this. However, when it came time to bid, the auctioneer started the bid herself. She knew I was interested and started it higher so that I would have to outbid HER, the auctioneer on an item. She did this same thing many other times. As a rule, I do not trust auctioneers who start bids themselves to upbid items. It is unethical, in my book. Fast forward, I paid more than I should have had to for the bed. I was told the rails were with the head and foot boards behind the table near it before the auction. Well, when I went to load the bed, it became clear that the rails did not go with the bed. Since I am used to being able to ask nicely for items to be resold if they were presented differently than they actually are, I nicely let her know that they did not match. Her response? Over the speaker system, "Too bad! You should have done your due diligence." The least she could have done if they answer to resell was no is show some courtesy and professionalism instead of embarrassing me over the loud speaker. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this auction house. Buyer beware!

All of the personnel I saw were wearing masks and observing social distancing while remaining friendly and very helpful. My item was located within minutes and it took longer driving back to the building from Madison Ave. than it did for them to find and bring me my purchase. Overall I was very impressed with the quality and variety of items they offered and especially with the ease of pickup. Very well organized layout to the facility and grounds and the personnel I interacted with were professional and polite throughout.
