My wife hired him 4 months ago. In these 4 months, the lawyer was constantly delaying (he did not provide any deadlines upfront), answering emails after waiting for a week, and his paralegals were constantly sending us contract drafts with rough legal mistakes. My wife and I agreed on divorce terms and were ready just to sign everything and file papers with the court. And after 4 months of extremely sluggish work, she still doesn't even have an estimate, then the paperwork will be ready. We finally forced him to provide us final version of the contract (after a month of calls and emails), and signed it. But now, instead of filing papers with the court, the lawyer sent her an email with a demand to pay an additional $2.5k in fees just to move forward.

At the time, I didn't realize that under WLAD, defendants are supposed to pay attorney fees separately from damages. After my consultation, I did my own research and learned this is known as "double-dipping," which can significantly reduce a client's net recovery. Case Valuation: During our conversation, Nidal told me he did not see my claim reaching six figures. He seemed to undervalue the potential of my case, which prompted me to do more research on my own. Later, I discovered published cases like Snell v. DSHS, where plaintiffs in similar or even weaker positions received much larger verdicts. Contract Terms: I found the firm was not flexible on contract terms related to medical liens, termination penalties, or interest rates-terms I now know are important for client protection. Second Opinion: Weeks/months later after our discussion, I requested to speak with another attorney at the firm who specialized in employment law. I did not receive a response, which left me feeling unsupported. For anyone considering this firm: Make sure you understand how court-awarded attorney fees will be handled in your case. If you can hire them on contingency or for a set retainer with % of settlement fine but do not pay out of pocket or they will run up those hours.

He talks tough about challenging the government, but when it's time to act -- like filing a Motion to Vacate -- he backs down. He delays, redirects, and stalls. Everything is performance. When pressure mounts, he doesn't confront the system -- he hides behind it. In my case, after three years of paid representation, he suddenly demanded another $8,000 and a brand-new contract -- at the most critical point in my case. That requirement had never been mentioned before. I paid the money. Then he stalled. Again. The new contract wasn't about clarity -- it was about setting up a technical excuse to withdraw without accountability. Worse, another attorney in his firm (David) had originally been helpful -- until Seth intervened. After that, David stopped communicating entirely. That is not legal service. That is internal sabotage and client abandonment. Seth Rosenberg is not standing up to the government. He's performing for it -- while billing you on the way out. I placed my trust in him and his paralegal. I began to wonder if I should in November 2022. In our first hearing - he did not file for child support properly; The Commissioner pointed it out. Steve told me later that he had always done it that way. Implying the commissioner was wrong. So, I asked when he would file again. Keep in mind. He knew my wife had left the family, I was working and raising 3 kids by myself. She was providing zero help. His response? 'you can't just file a motion for child support, it takes time and money.' Then later he told me that the reason he didn't file the initial motion correctly is that I was in a hurry, and he was trying to help me. So, our motion hearing March 2, 2023. Opposing counsel pointed out that Steve had not filed my financial declaration. Steve insisted that he had, that he had a receipt. But lo and behold, they were filled March 8th - 6 days after the hearing!!!! The hearing on March 22, 2023, did lead to an order for child support by my wife. There were several mistakes. He did not like being called out on them. In fact, when I asked why he had a hearing with my wife's lawyer to reschedule the trial he told me I was a difficult client. That his paralegal had asked him several times to fire me because I caused too much stress. When I was given my files - other client's information was mixed throughout. I am letting them know. When I asked for copies of emails Mr. Fields sent opposing counsel as I am now Pro Se (after Steve knew I was out of money he withdrew as my lawyer.) he told me he owns them - and would not provide them to me. I was billed over $30,000 by Mr. Fields and we had not gotten to mediation! I had asked him how much he felt I would need to have available to get through trial. I asked his paralegal several times for him to call me. I never received a response. Oh - my wife was directed to provide release of records. Steve and his paralegal decided to draft them. One big mistake - they had an incorrect birthdate, so I was charged several hundred dollars for records that came back with nothing. He told me that the birthdate issue was my wife's lawyers. No Steve - you included the originals with the wrong birthdate sent by your paralegal. I have them with your paralegals handwriting! There is so much more, and I am preparing a filing with the Washington State Bar Association. He knows. He didn't seem to care. Someone wrote that anyone looking should look elsewhere. I wish now that I had. Steve and his paralegal did a terrible job representing me and my children and he gave me the records to prove it. Steve did not prepare me for what to expect - wife filed for reconsideration and Steve was indignant when I asked him to explain if she could do that. Same when she filed a counter motion against my motion for child support. I never felt that he communicated with me as to what to expect.
