A little over 9 years was my first time in this shop and I snagged a pocket knife, tshirt and a ring and John got a Asheville Beer tshirt and a hat. We've been back to Black Mountain a couple times since that first visit and we always come back to this shop. John got another tshirt this time! C.W. Moose is a quirky shop in a small city of Black Mountain. It is awesome. I was looking for a souvenir T-shirt that was not polyester but cotton and had a standing out pattern. I found it at C.W. Moose. I loved the shop, the owner, the service, even the price! I really loved it so much that ordered some more on line. And I have to tell you a few calls to the shop were just as great as being there. You feel when someone goes out of the way to make your day better and just to make you happy. Thanks, C.W. Had some extra time yesterday and spent the time wandering the rainy downtown streets of black mountain. I was not disappointed in the selection of adorable little shops including this one. The workers here were incredibly welcoming. It was our third stop but the first to immediately greet us- and genuinely. The workers were helpful and available without being too overbearing. This place is cute and classy. They have a lot of Lester goods and vegan leather like goods. Not cheap h it adorable. Love their purses and shoes. They also have some of the cutest gifts- little Knick backs such as dog bandanas and socks. A lot of things people would actually like and appreciate. Their t shirt selection was stand out. It was huge and cute and diverse. It was also well organized too. The staff explained it to us well and even though we were not in the market for more shirts, we appreciated it. Tons of stickers here too. Nature and simple and cute. Great stop for gifts- for yourself and/or others. :) read more

Such a great, local store with a little something for everyone, whether you're visiting the area on vacation or if you live here. Every time I stop in they're always changing up the store and adding new fun products. Their staff is welcoming and kind to everyone, and the owner is a great guy. They have a wide selection of merchandise from mugs to clothing, handbags, shoes, hats, home decor, souvenirs, etc. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Nice little shop in Black Mountain. I loved their collection of "Life is Crap" T-shirts (spoof of the "Life is Good" apparel) so had to buy one. They carry all sorts of leatherware... shoes, boots, bags, hats, etc, as well as as assortment of jewelry and random gift/souvenir items. read more

The store is pretty cool and it's definitely a cool place to check out if you're in the area, especially if you're looking for a cute souvenir. I didn't catch his name, but the guy who owns/runs the store (with Buck, the dog) is incredibly sweet, but I'm giving the store three stars because of one of the ladies who works there. I visit N.C. every year and, while I'm up there, I always try to find things to remember the trips, which is how I wound up here. I was checking out and had a bag from another store on my arm, closed the entire time I was in the store, and I wasn't acting suspicious or avoiding anyone. And the lady checks my bag. Actually looks through the bag on my arm to see if I was stealing. Now, I'm 18 years old, so maybe she thought that because I'm a teenager that I am automatically prone to shoplifting.... I don't know, but it was slightly degrading to have someone, not so subtly, treat you like a thief when you were buying something in the attempt to support local businesses. Like I said, the guy who runs the shop is awesome and the store itself is really cool, but that one employee made the experience uncomfortable. I definitely understand wanting to reduce inventory shrinkage, as well as not wanting people to steal from the store you work at (obviously), but you don't rifle through someone's personal property, especially without asking permission. read more

I love, love, love this shop! Unique and mainstream items, including wallets, backpacks, rings, sweatshirts, local memorabilia, etc. I got a beautiful medium size black leather backpack that I am totally in love with; a casual Black Mountain hooded sweatshirt for when it's raining; a very cool silver faux bear claw/dragon pendant; and other stuff. They have many items that are competitively priced as well as good sales. Sure to go back and spend $ there when I'm in the mountains! Good thing there isn't one where I live or I'd shop there way too often. :) read more

We came in looking for "souvenirs" of our visit to the mountains of western North Carolina. What we found was a couple of steps above the more tacky stuff on other streets. Many items had authentic touches that made them both useful and reflective of the flavor of the mountain regions. If you are looking for wearable or accessory items, the prices here will fit most tourist budgets. read more
