Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience with CA Catering. I'm not even sure where to begin and every time I think about them and the situation it truly breaks my heart because they did not show their commitment to our special day. So here goes: Communication They showed a lack of proper communication, professionalism and attention to detail. When I say they, I really mean CA as I had very little interaction with anyone else. There were multiple occasions where my emails would go unanswered and I had to follow up multiple times in order to get a response. I understand we are all busy and I don't expect an immediate response however allowing several days/weeks to go by without a response was a bit frustrating. Once I did get a response, all my questions would not be answered and I had to follow up again. Extremely frustrating! Hors d'oeuvres and the dinner The majority of the hors d'oeuvres were bland, tasteless and lacked presentation. The dinner was not much better. I heard this from multiple guests which was quite embarrassing. I was supposed to have a dual course menu of chicken and shrimp, however some people never received shrimp and those that did only received 1!? Some of our guests had to request for the shrimp which again was quite embarrassing and disappointing, considering the amount of money I paid him. My photographers never received their dinner. I was especially disappointed about this because they worked really hard all day and should have had a proper dinner. I can only imagine they were starving! When my sister inquired about the food for the vendors, she was told that guests will be served first and then the vendors, which is understandable, however this did not happen. The signature drink This was one of my biggest disappointments. I had specifically requested for a signature drink- pisco sour. Unfortunately, it did not taste authentic at all and it definitely did not taste the same as when I sampled it during the tasting. To be honest I am not sure if it even had pisco in it. I ordered one from the bar during a slow time and the bartender did not use a blender, no lime, and no egg. The purpose of the specialty drink was to add a special Peruvian touch, however it was embarrassing to serve this as a pisco sour. Professionalism We were disappointed that my husband and I were confronted about a table seating mishap as we were getting ready to walk out on to the dance floor for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Plunkett. This was very bad timing and expected more from the staff than to be pressured and questioned at a crucial time. Cupcake Tower (wedding cake) Extremely disappointed by the cupcakes. The frosting of the cupcakes were all melted!! Butter cream was used even though I specifically requested cream cheese frosting. I cannot express how disappointed I was by this. Really?!? Who serves melted cupcakes?!?! With all that being said I would obviously not recommend them to anyone. It was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. We have mixed reviews about CA Catering. CA himself was a bit of a disappointment. As the leader of the business, he came across on multiple occasions as disinterested and unresponsive. We paid an additional fee to have CA oversee the setup of our reception site. While most things looked great and were in order based on what we had coordinated through his assistant Janive, CA did not execute on our lighting design (which we were again required to pay an additional fee for) and which we had discussed in great detail prior to the wedding day. When questioned about the lack of execution based on our vision, CA gave many excuses and said he used his professional judgment and his own interpretation of what looked good to execute in the manner he did, rather than the way we had agreed upon. We were very disappointed with the lighting under the tent at our wedding; an element we had entrusted to CA himself. On the other hand, we have only positive things to say about CA's assistant Janive. She was an absolute delight to work with from minute one. She was friendly, helpful, understanding, accommodating and very responsive. The food CA's team produced was delicious. The service was excellent (although we again had to pay for extra wait staff in order to have the service we thought should be considered standard). CA's team ultimately did a very nice job making our wedding vision come to life. Unfortunately, CA's uninterested demeanor ruined what could have otherwise been a great working relationship. read more

I'm using CA for my wedding/reception catering. Thus far, I have had a good experience with CA and experienced great customer service! CA has been a delight to work with, and his staff has been professional and they make it a point to make you feel as though your wedding is an important day. CA seems to have a great handle on weddings and has done a good job in communicating with me about any issues and needs I've brought to him. He does a good job with destination brides, and he is flexible to meet with. My wedding isn't until March 2014, but so far CA has been great with us and I look forward to posting another positive review here in March! read more

Im doing something different as I formerly ( a decade ago) was CA Catering's executive chef.... I see some people here making spurious comments upon CA caterings- both denigrating the foods and even more insane- seemingly assaulting CA and Marta; whom I worked for for over 2 years. Foods can be open to opinion so I do NOT know how these peoples foods were but in my 26 months I do know that this company's officers are very much into quality food- in presentation; portions and proper flavor so here I will (in abstentia) remark that the criticism of food is probably more a summons regarding overall review of their events. Professionally AND personally I had found CA and Marta to be bright and shiny(!!) to work with as well as work FOR; and I have seen CA's personal warmth dominate all events I was involved with. Please note- Ive worked for 4 other caterers and CA Catering is on par or superior to them all in the SE Florida landscape. If you employ CA Catering please tell him that the Dallas Cowboys are better than HIS followed team- this will be the only thing that can make his genuine personality attempt a frown!!! :)) read more

We were married on March 18th, 2016 at Stranahan House on Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. I selected CA Catering as they were recommended by the Stranahan House staff. Now I know why. Over a six month time frame, Marta Messana offered a thousand wonderful ideas and suggestions. It was she who made our wedding ceremony the success it was. The details of table settings, flowers, beverage and food service, the wait staff, the protocols and every delicious mouthful were all thanks to CA Catering and Marta. The wedding cake received raves. It was fabulous. Of all the weddings I have attended, this was the first time I have seen the caterer get a round of applause. It was certainly deserved. When you're scrolling and checking out vendor reviews, and every review is this shooting star, bubbles and rainbows kind of review, it usually is the 'after-event-glow'-- the reviewer survived the event, people compliment on the event and the reviewers' mushy giddy gratefulness is abounding. The vendors showed up, did their hired job and no doubt it was a great event. But how about a month and a half later....is that gratefulness and impression of the vendor still at that all time high? And what if in your line of work you have already worked with chefs, large caterers, country clubs, mom and pop caterers, event planners and the such. But your daughter picks a venue not in your county, and you've been there-done that with the caterers anyway...how do you decide what caterer is good enough for your own daughters wedding? Our venue was a logistical challenge, made even more so with a daughter to wanted unique and specifically designed for their (Bride and Groom) interests. This venue HAD NO KITCHEN. (unless you call a room with a sink one) Being a historical place, NO COOKING WAS ALLOWED. Everything was outside. So for even a vendor, this had it's logistical challenges as well. CA Catering was one of the 'preferred' vendors, so I figured best to start with all the preferred vendors as well as a few local others as well. I sent an email out to each describing the challenges, the theme, overview and quirkiness that our event will be, and left them room to add their input. I got back many responses with promotions of these businesses and why we should pick them: "great food, great service, look at these great linen/sparkling/current/old theme ideas for you!!!!!"....none seemed to READ what we were looking for. Except Marta did. Marta answered exactly to what I was looking for: "How can we make this event what you want it to be? Here are some questions...and here are some suggestions..." Marta and CA showed what I was looking for: to be equally invested in the outcome of this event, not be a 'hired vendor'. Through out the planning process, both Marta and Ca were professional, supportive, dug and searched for answers, assisted in 'grey' areas and overall showed the importance of how this event was to them. Marta even wanted to 'cater' to my own emotional being prior to the event, asking to take on more responsibility from my shoulders, afraid of how a normal mother usually crumbles under the stress. What CATERER does that !??!! They've been around the block for years! They didn't need to 'pour' themselves into a gig to get themselves on a map! This is the INTEGRITY that they have doing their business. As for the event it's self, it was perfectly quirky, and so much was owed to CA, Marta and Staff. Sure, you can get great food, creative displays, great service with any caterer. But with CA Catering, you will get so much more. I'm just thankful I have one more daughter to marry off, so CA and Marta will be our vendor of choice in the future. read more

This was our first time using CA Catering. Part of my job is to organize our company End of the Year celebration for about 500 people, and I stumbled upon CA during my research. By the end of the event, CA made me look like a superstar to my boss and all of my colleagues. He was a wonderful resource in choosing the right venue, the tastiest foods, fun music from the DJ, and the perfect decorations. I have never received the positive feedback from an event that we received from everyone - from top management to hourly employees. Everyone LOVED the party and raved about every aspect. Even employees that didn't come to the party were emailing and stopping by my office to say they heard they missed quite the event, and wouldn't miss the next one. During the planning, CA and Marta were always quick to respond to my calls and emails. They are both friendly and personable, and made me feel at ease. They both went out of their way to make sure the planning - and through the event - went smoothly and that we were happy. At the last minute, my boss asked if we could extend the party later because everyone was having so much fun, and CA made it happen without a hitch. I have been to a couple of functions which CA catered. The first experience was mediocre, but only a cocktail party. Most recently, I attended a wedding and the dinner was awful to say the least. I felt so bad for the couple, whom i know spent a lot of money per person, because during the reception the guests were planning on where to go for dinner! read more
