There were some random stains here and there (including some weird white stuff on the curtains - not gonna hold a black light up to THAT any time soon!) The beds were also not super comfy but we were able to get some sleep before leaving around 7am. It was less than $100 for the night so some not-so-ideal conditions are to be expected. The breakfast is decent and the coffee is okay. All in all, not a bad stay but don't expect grand accommodations.

When I called…read moreto reserve a cabin for 2 nights, the woman (who did not identify herself on the phone) said that only 1 of her 3 cabins was rented out for the dates in question, but she refused to rent out the other 2, preferring to hold out for the possibility of renting to someone who would stay longer. I asked at what point she would know whether or not a cabin would be available for a 2-night rental; she would not commit to a date. I asked if there was a waiting list I could get on; she said no. I asked if we had the option to lock in one of their motel rooms now but change it to a cabin later if one ended up being available; she was noncommital. I finally gave up. While I understand that Arbutus Motel is a small business, and they have to carefully optimize their rentals for the limited summer months, they were unwilling to work with me in the slightest. I will not consider them for future getaways.
