Stroll like a dandy down Dee Why promenade of a weekend morning and you'll see a few cafes with…read morezero people in them and one with all the people in them. Literally all of them, like some giant baby has been using them as toys and is jamming them all into one room of a huge Barbie play house for it's own infantile amusement. It doesn't make any sense, only, it totally does. The cafe is Seachange. and the reason it's so beloved by locals is three-fold: the servings are huge (no fleck of steak on a giant white plate here), they're happy to change absolutely anything on your order without any pissy whining or "No, the chef would kill me" type excuses, and the staff and management are unbelievably friendly. Wulf (sp?) made sure our group got a table inside to protect the little baby we had with us from the sun, and even though he was run off his feet stopped by the table a few times to drop jokes. I had the acai brekky bowl with banana and strawberry and bircher, at $15.90 it's the healthiest way to start the day while still feeling like you're eating ice cream. The Local with tons of bacon, eggs, and a potato rosti is also a winner, as is, oh, pretty much anything on the menu. When you're done, slop across the road and roll about on the beach like a walrus. Trust me, it's great.

The coffee ($3.80) is enjoyable (excellent latte art by the way!) and the view is simply perfect. I love coming here when catching up with friends. Their toasted Turkish sandwiches are still my favourite ($15 and a large portion). Nothing better than consistency and they have it here. Highly recommended!!

Situated on Narrabeen Lagoon, there are two cafes here-- one starts at $35 a plate for seafood. We…read morewent with the more economical Boatshed. As might be expected from the name, they also hire out kayaks and paddle boats for the adjacent lagoon. We had a wonderfully filling salad called the LAGOON BOWL-- roasted kumera, avocado, quinoa, green leaves, free range poached egg, walnuts, cherry tomatoes and citrus herb oil. The citrus herb oil was perfect-- just the right amount to compliment the veggies. They have a bar with a variety of drinks and also a desert case which looked good, but we didn't partake. The Boathouse is sandwiched between the seafood restaurant on the top floor and the boat and kayak rental on the ground floor. Large open windows make it pleasantly airy and provide a good view of the lagoon. My only criticism is the out-of-order lift(elevator). It looked like it hadn't been working for some time, which limits who can eat here.

One water cup had to be replaced because of a large lipstick mark? The menu is not extensive the food was adequate the mezza plate for two was the pick of the day. The location right on the bike track and lake edge commands premium pricing for ordinary cafe food. The big kick in the tale was the 10% Surcharge on top of a hefty bill. No mention of this being added or advised of this gouging.

Specifically as all the other places down the round are cheaper, and the atmosphere is better. So this is one of those small, thin (yet long) bars. It is made more for a sit down and chill. However, for the prices that you are paying, the bar really can't justify itself. Maybe if the atmosphere was awesome, it would be alright. But the set up of the bar and the design, the atmosphere will never match the price. So in summary, I would aviod this place for any other place in the beaches.

Possibly the best wine / cocktail bar on the Northern Beaches…read more Lovely little bar and a great place to meet with a few friends for a drink and nibbles. The bar is long , but with seating at the front and at the back and down the wall, you can always find either a couple of intimate seats for a romantic bottle of wine or a table for a group gathering. The food is well presented, and tasty, the cocktail list is extensive and well made, and the wine list whilst not extensive is not overpriced. The music and ambience sets the place off beautifully and the staff are very friendly. My wife and I regularly drop in here for food and wine on a Friday night and spend less than $100 easily (depends which bottle of wine i go for :-)), so good value as well....
