HUGE store packed with gear made mostly in CHINA.. at extravagant prices...The food is actually pretty decent. - the fish tank and Trout pond/stream area is cool and if your kids have never seen animals (even if they are dead and stuffed) its a cool place for a one-off. Just left Hamburg, can't believe how bad the service is and how rude the salesmen in the gun Dept are.They were serving no 28 when I got there, my ticket was 77! 2 hours later they were on 58. I counted 6-7 counter people that could care less if you left. We had planned on BUYING M14 type mossberg, scope bipod and ammo. We bought nothing. Doubt I'll EVER go back. Cabelas. Lots of huntin' fishin' campin' stuff. Lots of men (and women) in mossy oak cammo. Lots of rifles, shotguns, and ammo. Over priced cafeteria food. My husband and sons love this place. Me, not so much. As Ms. Felicia said, hundreds of manly men congregated in one place, so if you are looking for a manly man, this is your place. I'm normally a very understanding shopper but I ordered 6 blankets on November 16th at an unbelievably low price. Guess what it was unbelievable, there aren't any blankets. This has been backordered and today is Dec 12th. On the 25th I was told that they had some shipped in, today I'm told, nope no blankets. this is obviously a drop in customer service since they were acquired by Bass Pro. read more

If your from out of state, don't waste your day and your gas. They get 100s of visitors from jersey every day, yet none of their ar-15 models are NJ compliant. Ridiculous. Guy had no knowledge of gun laws and told me they don't even make the weapon for my state, yet three days earlier I was holding a "compliment" one. Went here for the experience and the price. a recent change in store policy has made it functionally impossible for me, a former US Marine with a current WA State concealed pistol permit, to buy a pistol (or a rifle according to an employee at their NIC desk) from my local Cabela's in Tulalip Wa. It's 3 weeks past the day, by Federal law, I should have been allowed to purchase a firearm from them. But for their new store policy a background check with an "open" status they will not allow the sale. A new store policy implemented after I started the process. Now I am stuck waiting for the background check to expire before I can purchase the same weapon from a smaller shop 12 miles closer to my home for $120 less than Cabela's price for the exact same weapon in the time frame allowed by current law. I add this is my 1st experience buying anything at Cabela's. There is really little reason I would go back there now. Not to mention the service was borderline rude or indifferent to my inquiries 75% of the time and the fact you have to take a number to talk to anyone at all. read more

You can tell Bass Pro purchased Cabela's. The substandard customer service that was all too familiar with Bass Pro Shops has made its way to Cabela's in Hamburg. This store is a 2 hour ride from house and I usually take a couple trips there a year for personal reason and formally for business meetings. The customer service use to be top notch and the showroom is just no comparison to other outdoor stores around the area. Since Bass Pro Shops has taken over this location has really went downhill. The camo section has been reduced to the old Bargain Cave and the people working there today showed zero interest in wanting help someone out locate an item that was showing "in stock." I understand that inventory sometime doesn't match what is showing available to the customer but there was zero initiative on the Cabela's associates end to try and locate stock in the back or to check the computer system to see if there were really items available. I got the same lack of interest from another associate working in the regular clothing section looking for another item in the women's apparel. They just pointed me in a direction and said, "if we have it, it should be over there." Again zero initiative from another Cabela's associate. The best interaction I had was with the cashier. That was the most help I got out of anyone there. People are better off finding the best deal online and having it shipped regardless where it comes from. Plenty of other outdoor store options out there. This place is only worth of 2 stars because of the size of the showroom and the amount of stock spread across all the departments. If you're looking for customer service avoid this place. Shop local, shop small business. Lesson learned. read more

Tried to buy some shoes and things today at Portland Cabelas. Waited in line forever only to find the checkout computer charged me $129 for shoes on sale for $85. Paid but went back to confirm price then to return line for correction. After another 15 minute wait finally got a person to check for me. But she couldn't get any one in shoe section to answer and verify price! Finally said screw it and returned all the stuff I had purchased for a refund. Complained to Tang, a manager who could care less when I told him what happened he didn't ev n offer an apple gy, just turned around and walked off. To me Cabelas is just a big box rip off customer no lace v and this was ant even to mention the lack of technical knowledge evident in the hunting area. read more

if it involves hunting, fishing, etc., they'll have it, but expect to pay top buck for it. worth seeing at least once just for the building. it's fun to watch people flock to the clothing section where you can pick up a nice "cabelas" made in china $3.00 shirt for around $40.00. and people buy them! skip the food area unless you really feel like you should be punished for something. read more

It's a nice place to visit, they have huge amount of hard to find ammo, and guns. Most of the stuff is pricey, If you need anmo, just go to the Walmart near by, the ammo is a lot cheaper there. Huge line for checkout, but most of there staff just stands around talking. read more

Ordered a firearm online and spent over 1.5 hours trying to pick it up. After all that wait I was denied because while completing the electronic form I mistakenly selected YES to an answer that should have been NO. My mistake and it was noticed before I signed the paperwork meaning it is correctable but since they allegedly have a BS policy that you can't change a response even though they clearly can see via the background check you made a mistake and you are legally able to buy the firearm. Its not that they wouldn't sell it to me, they just would not hand it to me (they offered to ship it to a gun dealer of my choice so I could get it there). Even their employees said how dumb it was and that I was the second person that day this happened to. I cancelled the order and bought the gun at a better retailer. read more

Cabela's is the epitome for outdoor/sportsman gear. I would have given five stars, based primarily on the experience itself, but the prices stay at or really close to full retail for most not-Cabela branded items (but still happy that they stock Northface, Under Armour, Merrell, etc.). What I didn't realize is that while there are many locations nationwide, our's (Hamburg, PA, north of Reading near I-78 and roughly 1/2 way to Pottsville) is one of the largest in the fleet (at +250,000 sq. feet)! You'll be blown away by the "mountain" located near the middle of the store that contains many real-life animal displays and mocked habitats (fun and somewhat educational for children... something that the adjacent Wallie-World can never offer)! read more

this place is a sporting goods store on steroids. lol. its ginormous and the selection of goods cannot be beat by ANY sporting goods store ive ever been to. what most surprised me was the huge displays of wildlife. this place was like universal studios or a wildlife wax museum. theyve spent alot of time and money making your shopping experience an unforgettable one. their ammo prices are extremely reasonable. guns were a bit overpriced but id expect that from most retail establishments. i really didnt have time to look at much else but i will definitely be going back to spend more time exploring this store. id recommend it to anyone who needs outdoor goods or firearms accessories for sure. read more

First off I want to say to bass pro shops, you know the one who bought Cabela's out, What the heck are you doing to these Cabela's stores?! Back in the day these stores used to be something great and worth making a long trip to go see. I can remember as a kid I was hearing about going to Cabela's and when I was finally old enough to go with my dad it was something that I always look forward to going to see. Recently I move close to the Hamburg Cabela's store and was really excited that they would be only 30 minutes away versus being hours away from when I was younger. Bass Pro bought them out a few years ago and it was probably the worst thing that could've happened to these stores. I wasn't happy when Bass Pro bought them out because I really didn't care too much for bass pro shop with the lack of hunting gear that they have always had at their stores and being more geared towards regular clothing. What Bass Pro has turned the hamburg store into it's pretty pathetic. They've gotten rid of the bargain Cave which most guys went to find some pretty good deals on stuff that they were looking for. Hunting clothes are almost nonexistent with a small area in the back of the store with the high-priced brand hunting clothing such as Under Armour and Sitka gear. This store use to be loaded with different types of hunting gear and clothing but now it seems like it's just a fancy place to buy fishing, camping and boating gear and also a lot of just regular clothing. I have been a Cabelas club card member for a while and honestly if it wasn't for the hunting trips or the Cabelas experiences that they still have to go on, they probably would've had lost me as a customer all together. Hey Bass Pro, you need to bring Cabelas back to the way it was and do like you promised when you said you won't change a thing with the Cabelas stores! read more

If you want something heavy or camaflage, this is the place to go; however, if you are serious about backpacking, stay away! I watched some salesperson at Cabela's trying to get some small scout to buy a 90 liter backpack for scouting there! They are terribly misinformed and won't get you what you need. Do yourself a favor and seek out a local hiking/backpacking store if that's what you're looking for. read more

I went here with my husband. They have everything you want in terms of hunting, fishing, etc. However the restaurant is one of the worst I have ever been too. That's why I am giving a four because of the food. Absolutely disgusting. I expected to eat something fresh and healthy, but mostly everything is fattening. Do not eat here. Huge store with packed isles NOT handicap friendly ~ Never replaced wheelchairs when broke... down to two!!! So a trip from a nursing home for lunch & shopping. OUT...we need wheel chairs for success... Local STS buses only alow us to bring two along ...when asked if going to get more was told no one knew that was 2 years ago!!!!! we have brought a personal truck with extra ourselves but a muti million dollar business cant have an ample amount of chairs available:( read more

I don't get to go to Cabelas often, but I absolutely love it when I do. I was recently there on a Friday evening right before closing, and one of their staff helped me find several christmas items I was looking for. the entire process took about 20minutes and by the time we were finished it was already 15 minutes past close, yet Josh kept helping me. He was super friendly about it and found everything I was looking for (plus a few things I didn't know I needed). when Josh made sure I had everything I was looking for he walked over to the checkout where there was still a decent line finishing up for the day. He called to a friend and co-worker and had him open up one of the customer service registers for me and I didn't even have to wait in line. I know it's not right for me to skip waiting like everyone else, but after talking with him about my family for 20 minutes, it felt like we were to some extent friends. I thanked him repeatedly and tried to tip him, but he refused it and told me to have a happy holiday. If only every other business could find people like this. Just received an E-MAIL from Cabela's on-line to up-date my credit card within three days or my order would be cancelled! Got a new chip card with the same numbers but extended date. Called Customer Service within hours of receiving this and they told me they sold my item and can no longer get it. Spent hours on the phone speaking to managers, and Supervisor (BRAD) to be told that's how it goes. This is how they treat there long-time customers? Gonna have to re-think my Cabela's Credit Card and my loyalty to Company who doesn't honor there own guidelines for customers. I recently wrote a note about the customer service that I experienced from this company. After expressing my experience on several review sites, I got a call from a manager asking if he could rectify the situation. I explained that all I wanted was to buy a few replacement parts for my camping kitchen and he maintained the comment that they could not provide those parts. He then offered to replace the entire kitchen. I explained that it was not my intent to get a free kitchen; he explained that this was the only way he could get me parts. I finally accepted his offer and received my new kitchen the other day. I do appreciate the fact that they wanted to make it right and that they went above and beyond to change my opinion of the brand. I love my camping kitchen and I wanted to update my review to reflect my appreciation of their followup. This was far more than what I wanted/expected and it makes me believe that they actually care about their customers. Thank you. read more

We have visited 2 Cabela's stores, one in a different State that we would give a 3 star, by far in comparison this Cabela's has a 5 star. If it was possible to give it a 10 star, that would be more appropriate. This store is exceptional in meeting the needs of merchandise, from clothing, home goods and the outdoors sportsman or female. The restaurant is excellent, introducing a wild game menu that is a must to try! Take in the outdoors, indoors almost to life Mountain, be sure to enjoy the view from the second floor! Moose river with live fish, a walk through fish aquarium, a safari adventure, elephant, zebras, lions, tigers, hippo and oh my!! So much more, everything you would see on African safari! A shooting game range for children of all ages! Out further first floor, don't miss the wild deer senic room! It's worth the drive, a visit, you may want to plan on staying a while. Cabela's drive has more to offer! Russell Stover store! Straight across the drive, motel and not to far a Cracker Barrel! If your thinking of a weekend get away, couples, family, single or groups, excellent place to visit! read more

I bought my wife a pair of pants (ONLINE) for the winter in Idaho. and because they were insulated we got her a size larger to give her room for thermals and when we got them she tried them on and they were a bit snug! I kept the packaging and just got around to getting ready to send them back ( 2 weeks since ordering ) and noticed that the return label says $7.50 will be taken out of purchase price. So I went online to get a phone # and just happened to look the pants up and they were $5.00 cheaper than I paid so I called and spoke to a lady that told me that there was nothing she could do about the shipping so I asked about a refund on the price as my wife is working on loosing a little wait and the lady said that they would not give me the sale price because it had been more than a WEEK!!!!! since I bought them. GREAT P.R. She did not even try to see if there was anything she might be able to do in order to help me. read more

If you're looking to buy a firearm you need to set aside a morning or afternoon to do so since the process is so slow. First you have to take a number at the firearm counter and it's not unusual to find that there are 15-20 people ahead of you. Then due to the short staffing you could easily wait 30-40 minutes plus just to to talk with a salesperson. If you decide on a firearm to buy, then comes the background check. Granted this is extremely necessary detailed process which is needed (although quite time consuming in and of itself) but again the shortage of staff will add to any delays waiting for the government approval. Once approved, you then have the pleasure of standing in line again to pay for your purchase. This is another well needed document detailed process however the shortage of cashiers can result in an additional 20-30 wait. Just make sure you phone is charged to pass the time!!! read more
