I bought a Kel-Tec P17 here last year - December 2024 per my credit care statement. It was my first firearm and the purchase went smoothly. At this point I have been to several other stores so feel more comfortable reviewing this one. All of the staff here were friendly and welcoming to me as a beginner on a budget. Was happy to see some diversity in the staff; definitely made me more comfortable as a young Asian woman. For the record I have felt welcome in every gun store I've been in thus far. I appreciate how honest the gentleman who helped me was. He actually recommended I try some guns out at Relic Firing Line before committing to buying anything at this shop. He seemed genuinely interested in making sure I got the right thing for my needs. The prices were not the best compared to what I saw elsewhere online but the location and service were good so paying some extra was worth it to me at the time. I will definitely return. Based on the reviews it seems other people had poor experiences here, which is unfortunate. I had a good experience with all staff there. Very disappointed. I went to make my purchase and after waiting for the two customers ahead of me, found they only take cash. Clerk said it had been that way for two weeks! I'm sure customers are not pleased after shopping for a while, and then finding this out. I doubt people carry hundreds of dollars cash when buying the pricier items, like rifles, etc. There should be a big note on their website, and on the front door. The firearms counter is now charging you $70 to transfer from another FFL to you. $70! That's insane. Had I known this I would never have picked them from the list, I can assure you I will never pick them again. A person to person transfer is $30, what's the difference? "Well, that includes our shipping fee." So.. $40 to.. I'm not sure what. Write it into their book? That's it. This is simply extortion. You can do better. I wish I still could. read more

I went into the store with the intent of buying a .22 rifle. I went to the gun rack where the rifle of interest was located way down on the right-hand end of the rack. As I was trying to get the rifle out to look at it an employee came aggressively barreling down the aisle loudly shouting at me "What about not handling the firearms don't you understand!" I responded by apologizing and stating that I did not see any sign or other indication about that. There was only one sign visible to me from where I was standing and that sign said "No photos." Needless to say, I beat a hasty retreat from there never ever to return in the future. What's the point? The customer is not respected. How about this scenario: Employee: "Do you need some help? We'd prefer that you ask one of us to show you a firearm and get it off the rack for you. I'm glad you're here and I will help you with whatever you need today." read more

I've usually had excellent customer service here and was excited to introduce my fiancé to the store as she's a shooter and outdoor person as well. The store reeked of tobacco and the staff in the gun department were walking HR nightmares. One was dropping loud f-bombs, vaping, swearing and making inappropriate comments including purposely leaving the seat up after using the toilet if a woman was next. We were prepared to buy footwear, pants and shooting supplies. We left early and empty handed and smelling of smoke. Huge disappointment at a place I have long bought ammo and gear. My fiancé was not impressed and she has pretty thick skin. It takes a lot to offend us. These are not the type of customer service reps we would ever consult to purchase a firearm. read more

When the cats away, the rats will play. Long story but I will summarize. Purchased a pew pew, and the salesman with the name "E", it should be "I" as an incompetent, gave wrong information. Although he apologized, and admitted he was cleaning his weapon on company time, he was still trying to make a profit and not do right by the customer. After his manager returned from vacation, she stated that she will handle this accordingly. Months later, I received a message from the manufacturer stating that nothing was done on their part. I'm not expecting anyone to be perfect, however my expectation as a customer is to be satisfied even if I do give you a second chance. Aces are definitely not in the right places. And I should have gone to Eagle arms. Those guys are truly the best, but I had to go to the closest FFL. So if you have to travel a distance for no incompetency, I suggest you take the time to do so. The manager of the firearms department presents as rude and obnoxious. I called to ask him if he had a basic Hellcat in stock and the price. He stated flatly 800 dollars. The manufacturer MSRP is 569 dollars which I paid that same day at another retailer. Three days later he tried to sell me 50 hollow points for 50 dollars. I filed a complaint with the store about my encounters with the man. I went out to my car and called Cabela's. 42 dollars for 100 rounds of 9mm hollow points. I went back into the Army and Navy and let the firearms department know that i believe they are price gouging. ( However, I would need to verify this.) I don't think the owners are yet to be made aware of the firearms manager's behavior. I'm hopeful that they will investigate my concern after being made aware of this review. read more

1 star because no stars wasn't an option. I remember coming to A/N in the late 80s with my grandfather and back then the place was what every business owner wants their place to be. Now, they're junk. I'm a firearms instructor so this review will have to do mainly with that area of interest however I had one issue trying to return a Carhartt one piece that was received as a gift but sized incorrectly. Despite being unwashed/worn, I was SOL. Their ammo is not at all competetively priced even against ripoffs like Cabelas/BassPro. Forget about trying to beat Wally World. Their firearms are way overpriced and they are loathe to accept manufacturer incentives/rebates. Some of their second hand selections can be had for the same price new elsewhere. I recently instructed an individual that purchased a Glock (junk but that's for another forum) pistol from this band of shysters. He was a firearm novice, and the vultures must've smelled this guy coming. Not only did they gouge him on the price, but only after range training with the weapon did it become apparent that during the transfer and paperwork they swapped out the two high capacity magazines ($30 value each) for 10rd California magazines. I wouldn't give the place so much as a thought for any of my needs. read more

I used to love this store, but something's fallen off for me in the last year. With regards to firearm purchases, I felt that for the price of the investment, I'd rather drive to Cabela's. There is a greater selection and a little less attitude. The women's wear section *seems* like it hasn't added any new merchandise since the last time I was there. It gave off the impression of being a dusty, neglected area of the store. Some of the goods are priced way too high for the Army / Navy tradition (I mean the more generic goods, not the brand name snowboarding gear, t-shirts, etc). The shoe selection seems to have declined too, in terms of variety (while the prices are still high for the shoes that aren't on sale). The store still does retain that overly packed, crowded, slightly claustrophobic vibe that is inherent to the Army / Navy shopping experience. If you're into DG, Fox, and other things, they definitely do carry t-shirts here that you won't find in other nearby stores. The problem is, I can also find those t-shirts online without having to spend 40 minutes going through stacks and stacks of t-shirts in a too warm store. That said, if they're having a sale or BOGO on t-shirts, it's a pretty good deal. Finally, the parking area outside is a disaster and for me the bottom line is that if I find the outside of your store a hassle, I'm not going to bother with it and just keep going. The last few times I've been here, parking has been such a headache it's not worth it to me anymore. The last time I was there, a lot of customers were parking in the back of the store. It's not a parking area, per se, and isn't well lit. If there hadn't been several other customers there when I arrived, I wouldn't have felt safe parking there at all. If you have to park on the side or back, walking to the front of the store feels a little perilous, as it is a narrow area and cars are coming in and out. Second, while I was waiting to pay, I witnessed a dispute between the manager and a disabled customer over the manager letting people without placards park in the disabled spots. He sort of made a "who cares?" joke or something about it - he was laughing - and the dispute ramped up. Right there, at the check out area, where dozens of customers and associates were standing. I really regret making that last purchase, because as I was leaving I saw the woman in the parking lot. Her car did have a permit on it and she was very upset and shaken. I can't be bothered to spend money with small businesses that don't value **all** of their customers (or who treat them like that in front of other customers). They really need to repave or restripe their lot, provide adequate lighting and space stripes in the back and otherwise let their customers - including those who have disabilities - feel that the lot is safe and accessible and that their business is welcome. read more

I think Yelp! should have a "no star" category because this business would fit in that category. I remember when the Army & Navy was on 7th and Tilghman Sts in Allentown a long long time ago. I used to go in there and always found great surplus and friendly staff. My recent trip was a disaster compared to when I used to buy from them on 7th st. I went to the gun counter on 10-30-10 to purchase a new concealed carry pistol. I was ready and eager to buy. There were three salespeople hanging out behind the counter. One was going on and on ad nauseum about an experience he had with a bagel. It seemed like his story went on for over half and hour, even though it was only five minutes. Another sales rep was talking about some firearm that he recently won-almost to the point of bragging and boasting. The third sales rep was kind of sort of waiting on another customer. I stood there perusing the pistol selection and NO ONE came over to ask if I needed help. I purposely looked at the two guys who were sitting and talking about bagels and guns-still I could not elicit a response. I rode in on my motorcycle and was dressed in biker leather-it was chilly outside. I guess they prejudged and prequalified me as being a "biker dude" who had no money. I guess they have no need to make a $600.00 sale-maybe they sell enough jeans and don't need to sell any firearms. Who knows? I do know that I went to Cabelas and purchased a pistol to the tune of $600.00. The customer service there was EXCELLENT! . Oh! Their firearm prices can be whopping 50% higher than MSRP-yes, 50% higher than what the manufacturer sells the item for. Check out their website and you'll see. EG: A Walther PPK has an MSRP of $525.00 Army & Navy's price: $742.00! More than 40% higher than MSRP. From other reviews I have read about Army & Navy (here and other), it seems they have poor customer service overall. Maybe it is time for a new manager? read more

This is definitely a cool place to find outdoor equipment, boots, or clothes. They also have pretty decent prices, as well. On the downside, however, the layout of the aisles is nothing short of labyrinthine, making it almost impossible to navigate to the desired section. Once found, you have to deal with horrendous customer service. I spent a good half hour looking at boots with no less than three sales reps only feet away before they even acknowledged my existence. What makes it worse is that I was the one that asked them if they had something in my size. If that is not the essence of horrible customer service, I don't want to know what is. The sheer selection, in footwear and elsewhere around the store is the only reason this place still has three stars. So, go there if you want to find some eclectic or somewhat hard to find item. Just don't expect the people that work there to help you find it. read more

I just bought a gun from them and the sale went without any problems. Like I always said, some people would complain if they were hung with a new rope. While i was filling out the application, I made a few mistakes and they helped me correct them. i have been buying guns for a long time .I can't see where these people can complain about the service. Army-Navy Store Whitehall, PA I've been going on and off to this store for the last 5-6 years. I have always found their goods interesting and fairly well priced on most things. I recently bought a new handgun and some accessories and their prices are very competitive. Good discount off of the suggested Retail price on the gun and ammo is currently 15% off. The Staff in the gun department are all knowledgeable, well versed in firearms, local gun laws, and are all gun owners themselves. I was given very solid and reliable advice about a carry permit, just received Thank you, and a couple of good local gun clubs/gun ranges from these folks own personal experiences. What better recommendations can one get if you are new to shooting in the Lehigh Valley area? Talking to these folks is free as well! These folks are great and I plan to purchase more from them. read more

For all of the complainers out there... I've been going to this store for over ten years, and bought my first complete snowboard set-up there (ten years ago). I just stopped in yesterday, and while I didn't find what I was looking for (snowboarding apparel that was to my liking), the store was as great as it's ever been! From what I saw, they definitely have scaled back on snowboarding/skiing equipment as far as brand diversity, but I don't hold them solely accountable. Many brands over the years have been bought out or simply went away. What they still carry is top notch though. In each department, sales staff was more than helpful to me while I browsed. While I was there, a sales rep stopped in and spoke with the snow sports department. Being in sales myself, I know how important relationships are with the brands you sell, and this rep even gave them credit for being more knowledgable than most other retailers. This store has such a wide array of quality apparel and equipment from the outdoorsman to the sportsman and countless people in between. I know not everyone has a good experience when they shop somewhere, but it pains me to see one star reviews of an establishment that is literally up against every major chain commercial sporting goods store out there. Unfortunately we live in an "all or nothing" world where you either get one star or five, so I'm choosing the latter. Whether you're looking for Carharts, shoes, camping equipment, kayaks, ammunition, firearms, snowboards, skis, apparel or even sunglasses, they have it! As always, take reviews with a grain of salt. This would be a zero rating if I could give it. The prices are not that great and customer service is the worse. I have a well known brand of sporting equipment that needed a piece of documentation in order to deal with some warranty issue. The manufacture sent the document to the manager Steve. I went to the store MULTIPLE DAYS and the manager Steve would not see me because he was busy doing "manager" things. When he finally spoke to me, he said he did not CARE, and MIGHT get to it in TWO MONTHS. When I questioned his lack of commitment, he told me to get off the property. I give this place a 4 star. Might be closer to a 3 because eaxh time I have gone there it is tough to get someone on the clothing floor. Not every time, just most that I have been there which is each time I come to PA cisiting family. I have been going here since 2002 and always make a stop while in the area. I like that they carry Hobie kayaks. I know how much of a pain it is to get that brand and how good they are so that alone shows me they want to get the best hear if possible. They had a good selection of accessories also but I did go on the off season do it was not as much. I go here for the surplus items mainly. Always get a few drab shirts and boonie hats. Hard to find either under $10 a lot of times. Probably can online but I do prefer to patron a store if they have what I want and the price is ok. Some things will be expensive. Just how it is in brick and mortar sometimes. If they have something I like it does allow me to check it out. Although not the biggest selection, the do have some 5.11 clothing there. I am a big fan of their stuff as it is too notch. A little bit of everything here so they can outfit you for just about anything. I would recommend researching what you want before shopping but that is anywhere. Since I usually get clothes there are not usually many people in that department but other sections do have individuals there that are probably pretty helpful. read more

I bought Keen boots here in the end of June and just last week, I saw the sole had a piece separating from the rest of the sole. I called the store, and took the boots back and they replaced the boots no questions asked. They said they usually don't take boots back after 30 days. I have bought numerous work and hiking boots and sandals here and their service and knowledge is first rate! I'll be back for my next shoe purchase. read more

Went in on a Sunday to look at handguns with my wife. Said good morning to two employees behind the counter and neither one even acknowledged that people were standing in front of them. We were by the way the only people in the store. We asked to look at a handgun that apparently was recalled. We asked what the recall was, one of them said I have no idea after a long moment of silence. At that point, we turned around and walked out. I chose one star simply because zero is not an option. The employees look laid back but knowledgbale. My boyfriend purchased his skis here years ago and he recommended this place to me. Lars is the ski tech here and he knows everything about skis, also the manager (sorry I forget his name). They offer enough selections but not overwhelming so you can narrow down your options pretty quick. I will come back here for paddleboard supplies this summer. read more

Not sure why this place has bad reviews. I drove down from Stroudsburg because my local store had a very limited variety of steel toe work boots. This place had a great variety. Around 50+ different boots. Staff was excellent. Got a pair of waterproof hikers while I was here for half off with my work boot purchase. Only $40 bucks! Overall, a great variety of everything. Almost bought some skis for next season but had to stop myself. All of them are half off right now..... SICK!!! read more

I've been going to WHAN for a few years now and my experiences there have always been great. Anyone expecting to see or buy just army surplus is, well frankly, a bit out of touch. These guys are a retail store in business to make money and offer goods that are hard to find in this particular part of the Lehigh Valley. They do sunglasses better than anyone around, they do skis and snowboards better than anyone around. The same goes for hiking and camping gear. If you're looking for white tees and camo, they've got it. But, they're so much more. I've never had any problems with any slackluster customer service, either. read more

I tried to sell my firearm to a friend as he was doing the background check he made a mistake. The ass behind the counter said now if I want to be able to keep my own gun I had to pay $28.50 to do a background check and if I made a mistake they would keep my gun. Seriously I can't even say enough how impressed I am with their service! I went in there on a busy Saturday and one of the guys that was helping us took his time, literally a good TWO-3 hours to get all 3 of my kids fitted for their gear for snowboarding/skiing. He was unbelievably patient and helpful. Not only that- he gave my kids a little lesson on safety and also how to properly put on and remove the gear to prevent damage. I'm giving a one star review because I have no choice. However, my true rating is 0 star. Before I go into my experience, I completely understand there are laws and guidelines that must be followed for firearms. I never gave them a hard time. I showed them both my state AND military IDs. I was told to sit and wait until they located my order. They were acting cautiously and I understood that. I know I had to verify my identity and my order but they were treating me like if I was some type of criminal. At least that's how I felt. From the beginning, they spoke to me like if they had an issue with me and not with the purchasing vendor. They were very condescending with their tone. I even told them that customer service goes a long way but I doubt that they understand this concept. I made an online order and had it shipped to them as an approved FFL vendor that was listed on the website. I went in to pick it up and, from the beginning, I was met with rudeness, bad and unprofessional attitude. They basically refused to give me my order because they stated that they don't accept orders from outside vendors. However, they accepted and signed for my order. The package was literally in their hands and they looked at me and said "we are sending it back." I don't understand why, if they accepted it and I am there to pick it up, that they would show me the box and tell me that they are returning it. I told them that, as a customer, their issue should be with the other company and not with me. They should've contacted them to be removed from their FFL list. This Army and Navy store was on the list of FFLs on the website so I chose them because they were the closest ones to me. I didn't choose them from thin air. Their response to me was that I wasn't their customer. That I was the other company's customer. Well. I could've been their customer moving forward but with the treatment that I received, I would never step foot in that place. They lost a potential repeat customer. One of the managers called me "lady" and I when I told him to address me appropriately, he literally escorted me out the store and threatened to call the police as if I was the unruly one. I even asked them "Is this how you treat customers and active duty service members?" As an active duty military member with almost 20 years in service, I am embarrassed that this establishment is called Army and Navy. As a first time "customer" I was embarrassed and belittled. Bad attitude. Horrible customer service. I will never ever spend one cent there and will never ever recommend anyone I know to enter that establishment. Thankfully, I found another FFL that was gracious enough to accept my order when it gets rerouted and assist me. read more

I was the only one there and had to wait over 15 min before they even looked at me. there prices we higher then normal on the guns. This place is terrible! They never have any sizes needed. They NEVER get new shipments of clothing for mouths and mounts. Tons of OUTDATED Fashions. The Skate Tees have been the same ones sitting on the shelves every time i go here. It's also all brands that are No longer popular. Stacks of Crappy brands like Billabong and Metal Melisha. The skate brands are out dated ones like Etnies. Not a place to find the new trends like Crooks and Castles, Diamond Supply or even DGK. They have advertisements for LRG but only had two shirts not my size of course. They have a wall of the same classic rock tee shirts. Nothing New ever.. They have corny pop culture shirts that have Elmo and Twilight characters on them. All the snowboard gear is marked down making it the only positive thing in the department. The gun dept has a great selection of guns but i feel unwelcome and uncomfortable while browsing. They have a lot of younger employees working clothing and shoes. Both departments attend to my needs excellently and usually know exactly what I'm looking for. However the last time I was in i was helped by an older gentleman who wasted his time trying to sell me a $400 jacket when half the store was on clearance. read more

The gun department here is the absolute WORST! They jack prices up ridiculously high and the staff back there are beyond rude. I was looking for ammo and asked the man behind the counter if they had what I was looking for and his reaction was to call me an idiot and tell me to look for myself. Aside from that incident they are also the most unhelpful people I have ever met. This store is terrible. Also, I have been told by many people in Lehigh county that Army & Navy does a lot of straw sales (buying a gun for someone who cant pass a background check/buy a gun on their own for some reason).
