I had a wonderful experience with Darcy at Cabinets by Design! I wanted to add a bank of cabinets to our dining room in our newly built home. When I first called, Darcy was very responsive, sending the quote and answering questions quickly. She also came out personally to measure the space for the cabinets and offered wonderful advice for design. For example, when trying to decide how deep we wanted the cabinets, she suggested to keep the cabinets within a certain depth so that the light fixture would still be centered above the dining table. I didn't even think about how the cabinet size would affect placement of the table and chandelier. After we placed the order, the cabinets arrived on time and the installer came a couple days after. Our installer Ricky did an excellent job and was efficient and polite. Now that the cabinets are installed, I am so happy. They are my favorite upgrade to our home. Not even sure if the job is completed. Lots of loose ends and materials still here waiting for what? I wish I knew. I did ask. And I signed a contract 2 months ago. Of course, when you pay anyone the balance that they demand before a job is completed, they forget about you. Unreliable installer and more than one time. They wanted paid-in-full before installation. Not a peep about how the project is looking or even examined. My friend who is savvy to this industry had to point out the problems. I think, maybe, one was addressed but still waiting in Oblivion. I was concerned about the size of the island, but was assured it was OK, I wasn't taken seriously, I guess. It seems too big for my tiny kitchen/house. Darcy told me I had to get a 30" sink, but could I not find any in stores, but the installer told me I could get a 33". Conflicting information. I went through the ringer and travels getting to the bottom of what I should get. Another issues is whether or not the island has to be permanently 'set'. I got conflicting answers on that too. Installer says, no, because there's no electric running through it. Many of us are new to getting a new kitchen. I needed a complete new kitchen after a fire. We need help every step of the way. The clincher is that Darcy's price was way more than anyone else's. I priced 3 other cabinet companies, but went with my friend's recommendation. When you're paying more, you expect better service overall. Maybe some companies feel that they have your business because a friend is recommending them. read more

We just built our home and had Haley, from Cabinets By Design, help us through the process of picking out cabinets for our kitchen and our laundry room. She was so incredibly helpful, patient and kind from the beginning of the process until it's completion. She even drove from Phoenix to Wickenburg to take a look at the color of the cabinets that were different than I had anticipated. She had them removed, the color corrected and then reinstalled, with no extra cost. She followed up with emails several times. My fear of going to a cabinet store instead of big box store came true...I felt as though my kitchen remodeling was not enough money to get the attention I wanted as a customer. Initially all was good until the diagram came . I had a couple of changes and wanted to expand the remodeling but communication deteriorated. I was told via email that it was crazy busy and then she said she did not come after 3. I waited 2 days for a response to emails and was ready to pay to get it started. Darcy knew I had no kitchen due to a water leak damage yet there was no urgency to work with me. I had to contact another company. I felt my job was not important to this company. read more

Update: my countertop cracked and had to be pulled out and replaced. The countertop was not istalled correctly and the cabinets were not level. I had to pay for the plumbing to be redone as well as replace the backsplash that had to be removed. Oh and now the cabinet paint is cracking. Overall terrible experience. read more

We recently moved to Lakeside Arizona and wanted to remodel our kitchen. We had gotten a quote from a big box store and their timeline was 3 months out. After meeting with Chris, his bid was considerably less, and it would take 3 weeks after the home visit for installation. Had a great experience working with Chris to design our dream kitchen. He came out to our new house on multiple occasions. Helped us revise our design several times. He was very accommodating with our suggestions and also made great suggestions that we ultimately put into the final design. Install started on time and went completely as scheduled. You can do better going to a big box store. I did a super small kitchen. The design process was kind of fun but nothing special. The installation was certainly sub par, not on time. The finished products were poorly executed in places (cabinet doors off center). I tried to get that corrected, but no response came through. The installers clearly have no investment in the business, so they could not care less about customer satisfaction. Oh, I let the installers have my old cabinets (not a small thing). They came by to get the cabinets while I was away and somehow my bike was taken the same day from my backyard (terrible coincidence or shady, shady people). read more

Mixed review. We had a full guest bathroom, master bathroom, and laundry room remodel. The cabinet quality was great and on point but the installation was a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. The installation should have taken 1 full day at the most but ended up being 5 days. After each day's work, the installer left all of his tools scattered overnight and razors exposed (dangerous as we have a young son). I constantly had to clean up afterwards. He was noisy and whistled the entire time loudly. When the installation was complete, I pointed out that the handles were noticeably different heights and the molding was not finished. The installer argued but agreed to replace at no cost. 2 weeks later another installer (we specifically requested another) came to resolve the issues and complete the job. They were quick and efficient (and were surprised at the past job's quality!) Rating 2 stars only for the cabinet quality and resolution work. read more

Do not believe that sentence in their ad "We listen to you" There were multiple mistakes with my cabinets because she did not listen. The cabinets arrived on August 3 with the wrong finish. It took until October 3 to correct all the mistakes. Four doors had glass that were not supposed to have. There was no drawer for the silverware. she suggested a little extra pull out beside the dishwasher which would not fit and had to be scrapped. The holes for the drawer knobs were drilled wrong and the drawer fronts had to be replaced. The mixer shelf was not installed correctly and had to be redone. This was a terrible experience. Do not used this company unless you have the patience of Job and months of time to waste. The finished product actually is quite nice, but there has to be other companies which do better work. read more

This turned out to be one of the worst experiences with a contractor. Jeff was hired to have custom cabinets built for my house and to install them. The cabinets arrived but he never installed them. His installer came and looked at the job and informed me that he couldn't do the installation for the amount of money Jeff was going to pay him because there was too much customization so he left. Jeff then went dark and will not return calls, voicemails, texts or emails. I had to find someone else to do the installation. When I told the new cabinet company I found how much Jeff charged me for the cabinets, their mouths dropped open and said that I was significantly overcharged. I am now also spending more money to get the cabinets installed, which Jeff was contractually obligated to do. Since he has gone dark, my only remedy now is to sue him to collect for the installation charge. Stay away from Jeff. He is dishonest and unethical. read more
