Living room built-in cabinets, shelves and trim installed by James in 2023.

Update March 2023. James just installed these beautiful built-in cabinets & shelves in my living room area. As usual, his work is top quality. He diligently installed the cabinets, trim, and shelves; protecting my floors and property at all times, and for a reasonable price. No hassle, no stress, just beautiful results. Even after several years, MTC Handyman service continues to be my top choice for handyman work, finish carpentry services and furniture assembly. --- In the last year or so I have hired James in several occasions already: for three big projects and for some smaller tasks. Every single time he has delivered high quality work and displayed great work ethic. James installed all the baseboards in my house, he replaced all the interior doors (installing their hardware and the trim around them), and recently he installed all the cabinets in my kitchen and dining room area including their hardware. In addition to these larger projects, I hired him for smaller tasks such as: fixing my fence door, installing closet doors, caulking windows and a bath tub, hanging mirrors and curtain rods, building a bed, and other minor tasks. James always arrives punctual, he is careful with floors and with the house in general, he is tidy and respectful, and he works diligently during the day. He is upfront about pricing and his prices are reasonable. During the renovation of my home I have dealt with a lot of contractors, and James stands out (by far) as honest, respectful and for standing behind his work. I will hire him for future projects and I recommend him unreservedly.

Very professional did a great job repairing the drawers of my 60 years old kitchen cabinet. So glad to have found a true carpenter.

Not only did the build out take forever (7 months), but since picking up my van on my first/second use, I have had roof leaks because they didn't install the "C" gaskets right for the AC unit, I experienced multiple leaks in the pressurized plumbing system (see pictures below) which caused wood damage to the cabinetry due to poor PEX seals, I still have no relief from the misbehaving (and Rydawell recommended) Ecoflow electrical system, I discovered they failed to insulate the sliding door, they actually plumbed the gray water lines into the BOTTOM of the gray water tank using the same penetration point as the drain (this caused water to back up into the shower pan when using the sinks (not to mention it would fail completely in freezing weather) and I discovered that the Rixen heating system was installed against manufacturer recommendations (to name just some of the issues). This has caused me thousands of dollars to get repaired (so far) at another (competent) van builder. While his hourly rate may seem cheaper, it takes him much longer to accomplish work items. As an example, his quote to install a 2nd battery (which he was supposed to have left room for) was twice as long as I was able to get it done elsewhere by professional van builders.

After booking my appointment weeks in advance (he couldn't get me in sooner than that?), he was a COMPLETE NO-SHOW. Apparently, even my texting him earlier on the same day of that first missed appointment didn't make him realize that we had an appointment that day. After he didn't show, I called him, & he rescheduled for the very next day (why did it take him weeks to get me in before?). And then he canceled the SECOND appointment an hour or two before the appointment window was ending, so effectively, a no-show 2 days in a row. (I had taken 2 days off work for him.) He told me he "didn't do" the floor repairs I needed an estimate of, though he had scheduled me for exactly that in the first place, & prior to the FIRST missed appointment, he already had photos of my flooring. Then he never texted back after just telling me he wouldn't help me. His communication was consistently slow or absent. One of the worst parts was that when I wrote a complaint about him on Yelp, he had the nerve to reply & say he had never heard of me & that we had never done business together, not realizing I've got ALL the receipts--incoming & outgoing phone calls to his phone number, and texts showing exactly what he said to me & when he said it--he even signed his name to those texts. When I called him out on his outright lies, telling him I could prove it, he literally immediately deleted & rewrote his reply to me to be all sweet and apologetic, which REPLACED the answer where he basically called me a liar & said he had no idea who I was and that we had never been in contact. (He replied that to someone else awhile back, too. Makes me think that was a lie as well.) Ilya is a DOUBLE NO-SHOW, an outright liar, & a real piece of work. SUPER shady. Daniel was a pleasure to work with in every respect. He communicated frequently, was straightforward with us about options and cost and delivered a quick, professional result.
