While Rydawell is good at cabinetry (they get 1 star for that), their foray into building out camper vans (i.e. Sprinter) has resulted in an extremely poor experience for me on the mechanical and quality elements. Not only did the build out take forever (7 months), but since picking up my van on my first/second use, I have had roof leaks because they didn't install the "C" gaskets right for the AC unit, I experienced multiple leaks in the pressurized plumbing system (see pictures below) which caused wood damage to the cabinetry due to poor PEX seals, I still have no relief from the misbehaving (and Rydawell recommended) Ecoflow electrical system, I discovered they failed to insulate the sliding door, they actually plumbed the gray water lines into the BOTTOM of the gray water tank using the same penetration point as the drain (this caused water to back up into the shower pan when using the sinks (not to mention it would fail completely in freezing weather) and I discovered that the Rixen heating system was installed against manufacturer recommendations (to name just some of the issues). This has caused me thousands of dollars to get repaired (so far) at another (competent) van builder. While his hourly rate may seem cheaper, it takes him much longer to accomplish work items. As an example, his quote to install a 2nd battery (which he was supposed to have left room for) was twice as long as I was able to get it done elsewhere by professional van builders. read more

We approached Ryan to make a walnut trestle table for our dining room, and it is freaking gorgeous. He was professional, collaborative with regards to design, and was able to stick to a reasonable schedule despite the madness of a global pandemic. I found Ryan through a Google search and am so glad I did. I inquired about him building a platform bed with drawers for my daughter's room and he responded quickly. We iterated a few times on the general concept, then he came to look at the space, finalize measurements, talk about wood types, and then he finalized the price on the spot. Update on our finished custom table-- there aren't enough stars to rate Ryan's professionalism and beautiful work! We were able to get our wood slab dried in a kiln and Ryan went right to work on it as soon as it was finished. For a charge, he even picked the wood up from the kiln which saved our office a lot of time and it was especially appreciated for him to go the extra mile (no pun intended). Once he began working on the project, he was in constant communication-- sending me updates AND pictures the entire way! Considering this was such a custom project with such a unique piece of wood, this definitely put my mind to ease. Once the table was finished, he sent me pictures and when I showed the office, everyone's jaws dropped! It looked beautiful! Continuing on both his thoroughness and professionalism, Ryan asked me to meet him and our table-leg welder to see the piece and go over the next steps. Seeing the table top in person was even better than pictures, and I couldn't take my hands off of it-- it was so smooth! He did an amazing job finishing it so that it maintained its natural-wood appearance, but was safe and protected against the expected wear that it will receive as a conference table. He very meticulously went over the next steps and the expectations of the wooden table, as well as clarified what I thought the final project should look like. I appreciated this very much because we were able to walk through the entire process and I was able to voice my opinion while he contributed his expertise and recommendations. I have been using Ryan's incredible woodworking and design skills for the last year. My first project with him was a bookshelf with built-in bar area. He worked with me on specs, design, functionality and even did a site visit to ensure that the location within my apartment would work with his design. I was able to specify what kind of wood (up-cycled), stain, finish and hardware. He also sent me a digital representation of what it would look like, which helped reassure me that we were on the same page. The final product is simple, rustic and amazing. It's the central focus of my living room and is very functional. For my second project, Ryan took an old table I bought and rebuilt a base for it, based on my design "wants."
