Overall, I give this school 4/5 stars at this time because, for me, the most important aspects of…read morechildcare are quite strong, and there is some room for improvement. We've been there 1.5 years. The strengths start with the staff--almost all staff are engaged (read: not on their phones, willing to conference and work with parents), and pleasant. Another strength is their policies -- the ratios they require are better than DHS, they implement and advertise policies for safety (eg, parents don't be on cell phone at pick up). Plus, the Montessori curriculum is actually implemented in classrooms--it's not just a daycare holding place. We moved from another daycare and my child's physical and cognitive development skyrocketed when we Changed schools. Now, the school is in a huge old house, so it's not fancy in material but they regularly repair and have an excellent playground the kids visit 1-2 times daily. I find it perfectly quaint. The limits right now are on communication about big changes. They have a monthly newsletter that's brief and helpful. They lack other infrastructure for communicating with parents that really works--some have a Facebook page, some rely on texting parents...but it's not consistent or multifaceted enough to catch everybody (eg some people email, some need flyers). I've learned about big changes by noticing something and asking, Like a new teacher joining or combining two classrooms. My other issue is with nutrition, which plays a big role in child behavior, mood, and development . "Snack" is often processed food with few nutrients (eg Cheez its, graham crackers), and hot lunch is better but not great. Now, we compensate by bringing our child's lunch, but she eats most or more of her allotted sugar each day at school snacks and doesn't get many important nutrients from the food provided.

Correction to our family's previous review regarding the specific statement- "That same fall, a…read morenew teacher called Child Protective Services on us during the second week our children attended, due to profiling". We are making the assumption the teacher called CPS due to odd questions about my family's diet that the teacher asked if our family was Jewish and asked if we brought a refrigerator upon first meeting the teacher. The CPS report redacts names to keep reporting anonymous, so our assumption came from the actual report in where false allegations and lies were told about our family. Our whole family parents and children were interviewed by CPS. We communicated that we just moved to Arkansas, and did not understand how a report could have been made when we don't know that many people personally. Also we communicated that there are not too many people in Arkansas who fully knows what happened with our daughter's medical condition except her school and my husband's sister, who checked out the school initially on our behalf. We also communicated that it is weird that someone made those allegations, and no one has been in our house to see the way we eat. We continued communicating to CPS that we are on a kosher diet, where we don't eat pork, shrimp or catfish etc. as part of our Faith/religion beliefs. That same day at the CPS interview we called the family member in question- husband's sister who lives in Arkansas- she directly told us that she did not call CPS over the phone. Therefore, since we took her word as truth, we assumed the only other person was the teacher who made the odd comment. But to be clear since the names are redacted we would need legal redaction to see the name of who definitively called and made up lies about our family. Regardless, it was a very traumatic situation and we apologize to anyone reading this where that assumption wasn't made clear. This detailed account is for integrity purposes.
