I was a member of this credit union when it was the Sony Employee credit union. This new merger with Cabrillo Credit Union is junk. I simply want to activate the debit card and I get transferred to the Philippines to activate the card? WHY can't this be done over the phone like a normal institution. The app and website is useless and looks basic and fake. Funny how they are so concerned about fraud yet their website looks like fraud and one can't even activate the card with someone in the US. It's hard to get someone to answer the phone. It's hard to get ahold to someone in a local branch and I sent an email stating what my dislikes are about the "new credit union" and no one has called or emailed me back. I'm not impressed and to think I wanted to close my "big bank" account and go credit union all the way. I'm glad I didn't. read more

All my cards are blocked...why Don't bother asking...This is the worst possible combination of Bank-minded a-holes who couldn't give a rat's ass about customer service... their president sent a letter last December reminding everyone of the past-practice of foregoing a payment for Christmas, and then stating that program is no longer available (yeah: merry f'n Christmas!!!) wanna talk about tone-def CEO's...... unf'king believable! Their updated websites always have hidden features that complicate customer transactions, and they sit there, blank faced (over the phone so zI'm assuming), wondering why anyone is complaining about the lack of services, and NEVER returning escalated calls because ... Why bothger?!? I have been a money maker for this crap outfit for years, overseas fees, overdrafts they mistakenly charged and had to refund, etc... Yup, don't come here unless you have a family member that works here and you can get an inside channel to service... so now, I'm going back to their website and continue trying to log-in on their newest defunkt home-page, just implimented straight from 1987... 15 times I've asked to reset my password and no response... this is their modus operandi and they suck! read more

This new location is more convenient for my needs but the first couple of visits were disappointing because they could not solve my banking problem. The parking lot is tight and awkward, and it is shared be several other companies. Each time I have visited this location they have changed things around. Awesome bank & I am glad I joined 9yrs ago. I just wish the banking hours were longer during the week or closer branch open on Saturday. However the service is great. I get great rates for auto loan & if I have an offer for less they'll beat it. Also great rate on a loan to consolidate & payoff debt without breaking the bank. I usually use the Scripps Ranch location but since I moved I'm closer to the LA Mesa branch. There's no atm at la Mesa location but drop box for deposits. And you can do mobile deposits but neither take cash deposits of course you can't deposit cash via mobile. Parking is plenty & you can usually walk in & out without much of a wait if at all. read more

The customer service on the phone is poor. Many times when I call I'm not even able to get a hold of A banker I always get the answering service throughout the day and then when I do get a banker they seem to be difficult to deal with . I just called and asked a couple simple questions and she wanted me to look it up myself. I tried to look it up and end up having to call back and then she acted like it was a big deal that she had to look it up. read more

Absolutely the worst credit union I've ever had to use. My last credit union I was with for years. Only reason I switched so I could get paid on Fridays. Well today was the last straw. Went in to cash a check. They said they have to put a 3 day hold on the check and I couldn't cash it. This check was under 1000. I will be looking for a new bank. read more

Update: 8/16/19 Cabrillo management reached out to me, their management team were very respectful and apologetic for the behavior of their employee. They also were kind enough to send me 2 free movie tickets. I went there recently to add some registration fees to my account, and I was helped by the rudest employee, who told me that the funds will be in my account within 24 hrs because she had to fax my registration notice to "some guy" mind you this wasn't the first time I have done this, and never was I required to wait for an approval. However, it was 24 hrs, right? What the harm? 72 hrs later and still nothing, I went to the Downtown branch in the federal building and the treatment there is day and night. Highly dissapointed, and that's hard for me. My bank account has been compromised twice in the last 6 weeks, I had new cards with new pin numbers sent and my old cards deactivated without notice. Never got a full explination why. The branch location is ok. The staff always seen very busy and never can tend to you when you vet in line. There is always a delay. read more

I stopped in yesterday to cash a check issued by my school. I called before I went in to ask some general information. I was told that coming in would be the best option. I arrived to cash my check and noticed a few new faces. The young lady with the extremely long colorful nails was very rude. She didn't greet me, no smile, no hello. She seemed annoyed by my stopping in at 3:40. I'm not sure what she told the manager but for whatever reason they wanted to place a 2 day hold on my check. I asked her how much would they be releasing today, and the young lady stated "none". I politely explained to her that I called prior to my arrival and was told it would be highly unlikely that any hold would be placed on my check if I came in to the branch. I was also told by the representative when I called that if I did a mobile deposit that $200 would automatically be released. The rude young lady behind the window said " no, that would not be the case". When I told her that I called prior to my arrival, she simply shrugged her shoulders. I kindly took my check and said it's OK and left. I deposited my check via mobile deposit and $200 was automatically released. Total Bit@# crew yesterday. Their online banking is easy to use and the people that work at the El Cajon branch are always very helpfull and friendly. Best of all is their PAL program. Had a great experience with the loan process from approval to funding. I worked with the assistant manager Billy Clark, he made my experience very smooth and fast. After realizing how low their rates were when getting pre approved for one auto loan, I decided to also refinance a current auto loan at a lower rate and lower payment. In the matter of a week I had 2 auto loans both at great rates and payments that worked for me. Billy made it so easy and painless. He went over payment options and had patience answering all my questions. My husband and I signed everything via docu sign and picked up the check for the new car the same day. Same as a previous feedback, I have this bank because I get pay early but customer service its absolutely horrible. Customer services stuff can never give you a full explanation about what they have holds on your money and even worst having a transaction you didn't authorize. Their system got compromised a couple of times at least and charges were charged to my account and their response was "call the merchant and try to reach an agreement".. really??? one time a check for over $1,000 was cashed from my account, when I open the picture of the check it was not even mine, the teller mistyped the number and got charged to my account instead of the other customer. This is literally the best Cabrillo branch in San Diego and it's all because of the employees. You know that grimey DMV feeling you get when you walk in to any legal/financial institution? This place DOESN'T have that. The employees are thoughtful, sympathetic, efficient, and most of all fast! They make you feel at home instantly and are genuinely concerned. If you have an issue, they will get to the bottom of it with grace. Not only that but my teller FELICIA has set up 2 car loans for me and my family, fixed my direct deposit issues, fixed a fraudulent issue that was going on due to my stupidity, and kept me from going into debt. She is so bad and her work is even badder! If you have the chance, definitely wait for her to help you (or Rachel) but everyone there is just as awesome and helpful.
