Go now! We planned this side adventure as part of our little road trip, thinking it'd be a fun little stop but man did we underestimate it. We got stuck in horrible traffic and we're super late, but they accepted us with open arms and got us situated right away. Johnny led the trail, but since we were in the back, we rode with his nephew who was INCREDIBLE! He was so knowledgeable and gave us a whole FL history tour. This will be a staple in our vacation now. We are so, beyond pleased and can't wait to do it again! 10/10 recommend. My horse, Poke, had a perfect little heart on his butt which added a little excitement!

We had a great time on our 2 hr ride with June. The horses were picked special for us based on our size and experience level. The trail was nice and shaded. Horses appeared healthy and had good temperaments. We got to help feed and give them water after the ride as well. Would definitely recommend!

We went on the 1.5 hour trail ride. Johnny was our lead guide. He did a great job, keeping everyone safe, warning when certain horses might try to eat or step off the trail, etc, so we could correct them before it would become a problem. It was clear that he cared about each horse and rider. He told us about the trail we were on. It was mostly shady and through the woods. We saw butterflies, animal tracks, and some wildflowers. The horses seemed well cared for and happy, and were well behaved. The three horses the kids were on were perfect angels. No real problems with any of the others either. Each horse had a stall with its name and breed. We were permitted to pet the horses in their stalls before the ride, and encouraged to pat our horses to show them our appreciation on our ride. This encourages you to bond with the horse and treat it as an individual, not just a random vehicle to take a ride on.

We had so much fun! Johnny and Irene were great with our group, they even let us trot a few times. All the horses were so beautiful and very beginner friendly.

We had an amazing experience at Cactus Jack's Trail Rides today on our 9am ride. Beautiful trails, great for any level of riders. Our guides Amy and Maddie were very knowledgeable of the area and made the ride very enjoyable. Definitely will be back soon!

I've ridden here every time I come down to Florida and will continue to come back! First and foremost, the horses are all in fantastic body condition, fed really good quality hay, and have well fitting tack. I learned that they get turned out, rotated between both the Orlando and Ocala facilities so they have different scenery, AND are given 'vacations' where they don't work and just relax in a field. I would NEVER EVER consider a place where I didn't feel the horses were cared for and they really do a top notch job! I had scheduled my first ride months ago and just figured 'eh, a group trail with other people would be alright!' The group I was with was very nice but entirely beginners. It was slow going but the horses were fabulous and really took care of everyone. I had an adorable, sassy mare who was nipping the horse in front's bum constantly! It was a lovely trail through live oaks but definitely a little TOO slow for me. I was told by Trish that they do private guided rides during the week. I found another morning that would work and gave them a call to book. Best decision ever! My next ride was just one on one, Trish and I. We were able to chat, had some lovely trots and got to see some trails I'd never gone on before! One went past the Florida Horse Park and I could check out some of the property. My horse this time was a brilliant gelding named Sparky (I think?). He was super smart and a great mover with comfortable gaits. Great personality! It was super fun to be able to chitchat with Trish who loves the horses so much! Not to mention it was a little faster paced and more exciting! I've never ridden in an Australian Stock Saddle before (I ride English) so I was a great experience. All in all, I can't wait to go back and will definitely be doing the private ride again. Worth every extra penny to be able to see some different things with an experienced guide! Even so, beginners and those who have never ridden will have a wonderful time. The guides put a lot of thought into choosing the right horse for the right person! I highly recommend Cactus Jack's!!

I started calling, texting and emailing this business at 7:30 in the morning because I had just tested positive for covid. I wanted to know if they wanted me to stay home and would give me and my daughter a raincheck for our 1 hour ride that I prepaid $135 for. Unfortunately, cactus Jacks did not respond to me until 5pm. And said their policy has a 72 hour cancellation notice requirement, which I don't recall seeing. My confirmation said to CALL for any changes, but they didn't answer my multiple calls, texts or emails until after my ride time. Beware of paying in advance with this company. We were looking forward to this adventure. I thought I was doing the right thing to stay away being covid positive. But I wish I had just gone because they won't even give us a raincheck. Don't pay in advance with this company because they will not refund, raincheck or even respond until after your scheduled ride.

This was SO FUN! All of the staff was great, the horses were heathy, happy, and well-matched to their riders. The whole family enjoyed this trip, even grandma "Lola" who was afraid of horses. Now she's volunteering at a horse rescue.

I surprised my husband with a ride today. We had a great time! The horses did great and the ride lasted as long as promised.

We went for the 1.5 hour trail ride, I rode Helga a beautiful Black Percheron. All the horses are healthy and well cared for. What a surprise for my birthday. We will definitely come back!

Ian was amazing! Took an hour trail ride at 9am and it was perfect. The horses are happy, the trail was beautiful and we had great time. 3 generations of riders, we had all been riding since we were kids and can highly recommend. Thanks again,Ian!!

This address takes you to the Landbridge Trailhead (approximately 1.4 miles NE of the actual I-75 Landbridge) and has separate parking and trails for equestrians -vs- hikers and bikers which is nice. There are bathrooms, a water bottle filler, a bike wash station, a few picnic tables, a bike tool station (although the air hose was cut) and all of it very well maintained given the impressive number of acres. The mountain bike trail intersected the paved trail so when we had enough bumps (hello, beginner here?!) we could take the paved trail a little while longer and all the back, thank goodness.

At this trailhead, there is PLENTY of parking (when you pull in go to the right - it goes around a corner and there is where you'll see a couple of parking lots). There are bathrooms, a water fountain, and trail map here at the trailhead. You can choose a couple different trails - going to the right is a 3.5 mile hike (one way - so there and back is 7 total) that goes over to the 49th ave trailhead or to the left goes to Santos (7 mile one way). We went with Santos. Things were pretty clearly marked; however we somehow ended up on the bike trail at some point (there were 4 of us and we were busy in conversation so ya know, it happens lol), but was easy enough to make our way back so our 7 miles turned in to about 8-8.5. Worked out great because we ended up coming out where Santos Bike Shop is and took a Lyft/Uber back to our car at the trailhead. The bike shop was great, super nice people, plenty of knowledge in there. The trail itself is shaded for the most part, sun creeps in, but it's definitely shaded with all the trees. We saw a LOT of cool looking trees. I'm a big fan of being able to explore Florida (free is even better) so it's nice to be able to go out on the trails without having to pay to get in to parks or for parking or what not. If you have bikes, this is a GREAT trail to come to - the trails are separate as far as bike friendly and people hiking friendly which is nice for both parties. We really enjoyed and can't wait to visit again.

My girlfriend and I booked a trip with Wild West Horse Tours in Ocala, FL thinking we'd have a nice…read moreday date riding horses on a Saturday and it turned out to be quite a mistake. I'm posting this with the genuine hope that no one else will repeat our error in judgment and will avoid this company at all costs. We got the first red flag when we contacted them through the website to make sure the date and time were available. Two different people from their company called us four times over the course of two hours trying to get our credit card info to book the trip. Initially, I thought, "Perhaps they're just disorganized, but really want the business; times are tough, right?" I should have pulled the plug then. The lady I spoke with to book the trip seemed very friendly and took down our information and confirmed us X weeks in advance for the date and time that we wanted on a Saturday afternoon. However, after the call, we never received a confirmation email or anything stating that the card was being charged or that they were expecting us... red flag number 2. The charges for the trip appeared on the card, so we knew they had at least gotten our information correct. On the Monday before the Saturday of our trip, my girlfriend wanted to make certain that we were confirmed, so she emailed the company checking to make sure we were still confirmed for Saturday. Someone named George responded that we were confirmed for Saturday at 11 and said he was sorry that we didn't receive a confirmation email, that maybe it was in our spam box. There was no email in the spam box from them, though the spam box would have been a fitting place for correspondence from Wild West Horse Tours. Regardless, we felt better having received the email confirmation from George. On the confirmed Saturday morning we drove for 2.5 hours to Foxtrotter Ranch in Ocala, FL. We very excited when we arrived 25 minutes early and saw that there were other riders already on horses, prepared to go on the trail ride. We walked into the stable area and were met by one of the workers who was walking a horse out of a stable towards the other riders. His less than cordial first words were, "We don't have any more horses." I was stunned and said, "Are you serious? We confirmed with you on Monday and we just drove 2.5 hours to get here." He simply responded, "You'll have to talk to George about that. You might go up the road to Cactus Jack's (another horse tour company), he probably has some horses." And then he walked away with no apologies or any semblance of helpfulness to our inconvenience and expense. We returned to the car with our confirmation email in hand and I promptly called the number for Wild West Horse Tours and there was no answer, so I left a voice mail message that I wanted someone to call me as soon as possible. No one returned my call, so I called again a few minutes later. This time I got George on the phone and explained the situation and that I wanted a refund. He didn't even bother to apologize for the inconvenience and expense that his company's incompetence and disorganization had caused, he just said that he would take care of the refund... red flag number 3. At this point, we were greatly concerned that the whole website was perhaps a front for a credit card scam and that we should keep an eye out for fraudulent charges. In the interest of proactively retaining legal paperwork, we emailed him later that same day, informing him of our dissatisfaction with Wild West Horse Tours and that we expected to see the refund posted to the account by the end of the week. He never responded. We received an email from the company that processes their credit card transactions, INRG Marketing in Palm Coast, FL with an email from Gloria who was the first person to offer an apology for Wild West Horse Tours' failure to provide services. She stated that we would receive a refund, gave us a confirmation number and informed us that it should take several days for the credit to appear on the account. In summary, after they get your credit card information, the staff is incompetent, disorganized, rude, unhelpful, unconcerned and fortunately, with these as their company characteristics, probably won't be in business much longer. Do NOT waste your time or money on them; find a reputable company to work with if you are looking to book a trail ride.
