Mixed review.... The bands was really good and it was definitely an older crowd on that Friday night so everyone was there too have a good time with no drama. There is a dance floor for those who want to get some 2 steppin in. Drinks & food are reasonably priced. Downside, the service was sub par. We kept having to go find our waitress. Smoking is allowed and you'll leaving stinking off Cigarettes. This is an old place and not fancy by any means. There were people in shorts & tees, boots, and all types in between. Bathroom is a single toilet and sink set up like at home, it was kept clean. The place is your typical locals hole in the wall so don't expect anything fancy. The beer is cold, the band is good. VEGETARIAN REVIEW Get ready to choke on cigarette smoke. I went there at about 10:00pm on a Saturday night, looking for a drink and something to eat. Apparently, this was the only thing open in the area. The place was filled with HEAVY SMOKE. If you aren't a smoker, you'll be miserable here. There are no real vegetarian options, so I ordered fried cheese and a glass of Cabernet. The fried cheese was fine, not what I had hoped for dinner, but it wasn't bad. My wine was a super cheap white wine, Boone's Farm quality, and obviously not Cabernet Sauvignon. The service was slow, but the server was friendly. The music varied from country to rap, and no one was dancing. The whole place needed a good scrub-down. Not a fan. read more

I like this little bar on FM 1097. The bartenders are polite and fairly good looking. Drink prices are reasonable and mixed drinks are as stiff as you'd want them to be. Been coming to this bar. Love it. But looking at my bank account the next morning after only ordering 2 drinks which came out to 8$ even. It was a busy night so we were there for not even 5 mins. Been coming here for 13 years got the absolute worse service ever! We wanted crawfish, couldn't even get a drink order in cause the server had no clue what she was doing! Had to open a tab at the bar to get drinks, crawfish came out fast but was cold, spoke to the owner and she said "if the service is so damn bad get your ass in the kitchen and fix it yourself!" So, it's a bar that serves food. If you are hungry, eat first, because your food will take at least an hour and a half to get to your table after your order. That's after you order. Getting a server to take your order takes a while to begin with. Our server explained to us that she "walked into a cluster#@ck." Chips and salsa were finally served at 90 minutes after we ordered, our food came out about 2 minutes later. Now, the entertainment was something else. Two drunk women getting up and dancing together, only to both fall on the floor and take quite some time to get up. Nobody seemed to be phased by this - I think it might be a regular occurrence? Not even 9:00 PM yet. They do karaoke on Thursday night. We were finally done with our food about two songs in, but the two performers that went up while we were there were pretty good. What a cute little Texan bar. I have been to bars in Conroe that are disgusting pits, this is not one of those places. This is one of those places that someone who isn't from Texas expects to see when they come to visit. Neon beer signs, country music band playing, shuffle board, darts, wooden walls, ample picnic tables, horse shoes outside, golf carts adorned by Texan flags, and good ol' boys at the cabana outside. The owner of the bar was there yellin' at the bar tenders to let the know that propin' the door open was dumb because she's paying too much to let her air conditionin' outside! There's an adorable Tiki bar outside along with a fountain. No matter where you find yourself, you'll find places to sit and hear your friends talk. Came here for Sunday crawfish, they were terrible! Tasted like dirt and soggy, didn't eat them or the corn and potatoes. Complained to the manager and she said unfortunately I cant do anything-about it, but i can give you a beer on the house. Also you have to pay for the 2 pounds, potatoes and corn. Then they tried to charge for 3 pds. Also the manager needs to dress a little bit more appropriate for her position, boobs hanging out with dirty bra straps just doesn't cut it. The best of times here !!! The wait staff is great and always around. Something to do every night. Dance floor is fun and the music is the best to dance to. A different thing to do every night and close to home !!! The only thing that needs to be corrected and I mean of all the nights is the Karaoke. The guy is rude , no help and has a very small selection of music to choose from. I asked for I love this bar by toby keith. It was not on his list. Came in with a Florida Id. Asked for second identification. Provided another government issued id (Twic) and when that wasn't good enough, provided health insurance card. Still not good enough, Texas A&M id with picture and name was not sufficient. Nothing was good enough, manager was friendly, but took orders from a bartender that said "do not serve him unless he has a passport". Bartender was extremely rude. We were a party of nine, eight adults and a seven year old. We came for the crawfish but a few, including youngster, needed to order from a menu. Our waitress had no problem delivering crawfish but it goes downhill from here. It took over an hour to get one hamburger and an incorrect order for our young person. When we told the 'substitute' waitress that we did not order part of what she brought to the table, she left with the entire order. We finally got them to return the hamburger to the table and, after more than 75 minutes, the youngster finally got his food. Took another 15 mins to finally get our bill/check; a small sheet off an order pad with an amount written across it, nothing itemized, had no idea what we were paying for or how much anything cost. Absolutely the best crawfish west of Louisiana. They boil them the right way "in the juices" not a bunch of cayenne pepper on outside like they do in Texas and other places. This is Louisiana style (where I'm from ya'll). LOVED THEM! And at the time we had them, $4.50/lb was best price in area. Service is not 5 star but they are attentive for the crawfish, not sure if we ordered anything else so I will leave that for others to rate. In my book, best crawfish deal and service in the area by far. But don't think you're coming in for 3 lbs crawfish each, a beer and leaving in 60 minutes, that's NOT the point! So me and a few friends decided to check out this bar cause they have a special going on. Granted I am about to be 25 but I look like I'm 18 and so do my friends however after the bar back I'm assuming checked our IDs I heard the bartender say no f***ing way over and over again and she her self never came over or explained she was too busy or something to get to us we found out the bar back is the manager and he himself barely even checked on us. Other than take our drink order and empty our ash treys no body checked up on us it was really unfortunate because I have heard great things about this place but Overall it was a bad experience and a not so friendly atmosphere. read more

Worse service today in the last 12 years I've been going there. My family and I , all together 15 of us have been going during the week and weekends since they have been in business. Today we sat for 30 minutes without a waitress, had to go ask someone to help us. Finally found our own waitress and 20 minutes after that they finally showed up at the table. We finally got our drinks 30 minutes after we ordered them ( 5 adult drinks and 2 kids) we finally got our first drinks at the table. We ordered crawfish since that is what they are so excited to advertise about and that is what sundays are supposed to be about for "the Cactus ". We waited almost a hour before we seen the first 2 lbs of crawfish on the table. PAT THE OWNER delivered the first lbs of crawfish, I brought up her attention that the service today is the worse I have ever had. The OWNER PAT STATED IF THE SERVICE IS THAT BAD THEN I NEED TO GO IN THE BACK AND COOK AND DO I THINK SHE ACTUALLY WANTS TO WORK" i was very polite when I said that the service was very slow and PAT " the owner" WENT ON THE DEFENSIVE AND WAS VERY RUDE!!! My father goes to the cactus 3 days a week and and has never been treated or talked to like that. It was very dis respectful to say the least. I am very ashamed at THE OWNER PAT would treat a loyal customer like that. It is uncalled for and I lost lost respect for you and your business. It is a shame that she "THAT THE OWNER PAT " would treat loyal customers the way she did. No customer regardless if your a loyal customer or a first timer should be disrespected like we were. I will never step foot in that place again and I will spread the word about how PAT "THE OWNER" treats here customers. I WILL TRY EVERYTHING I CAN TO REMOVE ANY CUSTOMERS THAT I HAVE EVER RECOMMENDED TO THAT PLACE. I am very disappointed in how the owner "PAT" treated my family and I.
