My child has been at Chesterbrook Academy for three years and…read more I have been very happy with the teaching staff and my child development. Destiny is now four years old and she can write her name and can also read at the beginning stages. I am a very demanding parent, when it comes to education and Chesterbrook has done a great job. This will be her last year there, but she is well on her way. Better prepared for public or private education, and she has a strong foundation. As a parent I am very Please.....

This preschool has a great reputation so we scheduled a tour. We really liked the fact that our…read morechild would learn in a structured environment. We liked everything about this preschool. So we enrolled our then 18 month old son. His 1st day he cried as most children would when being left in an unfamiliar place. His teacher Ms. Shay just ignored his cries as he followed her around the class trying to grasp her legs. My son would cry and hold on to me so tight whenever we got to the classroom. At first, I thought it was because he didn't want me to leave him but it got worse. So I would pop up at different times and observe through a window where I could not be seen. I discovered my son being totally ignored for 3 days. I arrived one day during nap time because I was curious how they were able to get these children to take a nap. I observed the other teacher Ms.Olivia pop a child on his leg and physically made him lay back down because he sat up. I was livid. I removed my son from the classroom and notified the asst. principal and director. Judging by their reaction, I truly believe they are aware of this type of physical punishment. It was pretty strange how a classroom full of children this age were so well behaved and quiet, all the time. They were scaring these poor babies with physical harm. I asked what was going to happen to this teacher that just hit this 18 month old child and they said it was a lot of paperwork involved. They never checked on the child. Basically, nothing was done. The teacher remained there. These children are not able to talk so they are unable to let anyone know that they are being physically punished. The parents of the child was not notified. This school reputation is great because they sweep things under the rug. I did notify DSS because I really feared for the babies in that classroom. This school first concern is their reputation and not the welfare of children like they portray.

Her rates are reasonable for the quality care that they receive. She provides a yearly calendar in January, and communicates effectively throughout the year. I could not ask for a better childcare provider for my children. I sincerely cannot recommend her enough!

Ms. Amy has been a true gem. She has been caring for our daughter since she was 12 weeks old (she's…read more9 months now), and they met when our baby was just five weeks old. Our baby took to Ms. Amy right away, and they've been besties ever since. Ms. Amy is attentive, considerate, kind, accommodating, excellent with my breast milk and with paced feedings, and she has worked with us at our pace for incorporating solid foods into our baby's diet. She has a safe and loving home and really makes you feel like family. She gives a clear sense of her schedule and always gives us as much notice as she possibly can for closures and shortened hours. She follows the Richland 1 school schedule for the most part. She is also attentive to infection control concerns and does her best to avoid illnesses spreading. She often checks in on us after hours and is happy to give baby advice from her own years of experience. Her children are also extremely helpful, and her daughter babysits herself. We are pleased to be a Lush Cove family, and we hope to keep our baby here for the foreseeable future.

She also wouldn't refund us for the entire week because we decided to take our kids out and they fired the worker.... 3 hours later! I was told by police this isn't the first report of abuse, neglect etc against this daycare so I searched it for myself!!

Here's a little history. My child has been going to Children's World aka Kid's Club since they were…read moresix months old. They are nearly 12. Law says that a child under the age of 12 has to be under the care of an adult. Since I live in the sticks, this is one of the only daycare centers that would pick my child up from school. My child has been going there so long they have more seniority than the current owner, that's how long we've been there. I've always paid early whenever possible, but they've never had a problem with me. I am now being currently told that it isn't worth their time to pick my kid up anymore and I have two weeks to make other arrangements. This is by an epitome of incompetence by the name of Tiffany who, as proudly as she boasted her position as being in charge of management of the employees over all centers, is apparently too incompetent to figure out how to float one person for the max of an hour to accommodate a pickup to middle school. Over these long 11 years, I have not bothered to learn the names of about 80-90% of the employees who came through. They were never there long enough. One who found out where I worked went into automatic interview mode and asked if I would put a word in for them at my workplace, they didn't last the summer. The centers themselves are given no autonomy when it comes to how they manage themselves. They talk a big game just before the summer, but every low-cost but fun option the director had set up was almost immediately shot down by the owner. I saw phenomenal teachers leave one after the other.... over .13/hour. 13 CENTS! The CFO drives a flashy BMW though. Every time I've seen her at the center, she looks irritated and terrified she'll get something dirty on her. The owner himself seems nice enough but out of touch with his people. I had to witness a director being let go because one of the people under them was combination brown noser/gossip monger, they stirred up crap just to do it. Nothing I said could stop it. Then there is this Tiffany, the manager who doesn't manage anything, the one who pawns responsibility the centers don't have back on them because she doesn't want to take any herself. The one whose very way of saying "your child" makes you think your child must have knocked off a liquor store and threatened the president. After being told no less than three times what "my child"'s name was, still got it wrong. I don't understand why in the world they keep people in the top ranks who so obviously hate children, while those getting a pittance and making it work and loving our children under their care, get nothing. I hope this place goes under.
