We looked into every Montessori w/in a 25 mile radius (Wilton, Ridgefield, Danbury, Newtown, Washington) and the Toddler/Primary programs here are second to none. The school is not too big, so you feel you're part of a family. There is something so special here and you feel it as a parent the moment you walk in, but your child experiences it, too. We saw this during observations and we're experiencing it now as parents. It's important to know several things about Montessori schools. 1. Not all are created equal and each is independently owned/run. This means some adhere more or less to Montessori values/principles. RMS is a beautiful balance, adhering to the principles while making room for modern needs and allowing each child to grow but also, to be. 2. As in any school setting, the teachers make or break it. The Teachers in every room/program here are beyond plugged in, nurturing, warm and caring. AND, they work very collaboratively while still minding their individual programs. This means a holistic approach for your child as they grow through the years. My daughter embraces each of them and speaks so highly of them outside of school. She looks up to them but doesn't view them as simply 'adults' or teachers. These are her guides and she is so thankful for her relationships with each one of them. I did see a review from several years ago mentioning 25 students to a class/teacher. Not only is that not the Montessori method, but it has never been the ratio at this school (nor do I believe it's allowed by the state in these settings, but I could be wrong). For interested parents: In each Toddler room (2), you're looking at about 10-12 kids with 2-3 teachers/class (depending on enrollment each year) so usually a 1:4ish ratio and the Primary room (used to be 2, is now 1 large room broken up into 2 sections to follow core Montessori method) you're looking at about 30-36 kids total with 4 Teachers and the class is somewhat split into 3s/4s Section and then 5s Section w/2 teachers focused on each at any time. You're still at a 1:8 ratio roughly, so not sure where the 1:25 ratio came from. In any case, we're active and present and have seen this school from all angles and truly, couldn't be happier. The physical space itself is also beautiful, pristine and built for kids (bathrooms in the Toddler room, bathrooms right outside the Primary class). The biggest issue we're facing is what comes after RMS as we've yet to find anything in the area that is suited to follow. We hope others will take the time to come see for themselves what makes this school, the teachers, the program and the students so [truly] magical. These years should be spent exploring through play, not rigid curriculum, and RMS has made good on that every step of the way while still exposing these littles to the world around them in a way that engages them and lays a foundation for a true love of learning. My son went to the school from when he was 1 years old when they used to have an infant room all the way until Kindergarten. My son is now in public school and misses RMS very much. It was like a family to him and the relationships he made there were wonderful. We loved how independent and creative he became all due to the Montessori way of teaching. He is currently thriving now in public school because of the foundation he was taught. They also have very flexible hours for working parents which was very useful. He loved the after school activities like cooking and science. He would beg to stay late. The staff and teachers are the best! You won't regret your decision to send your children here!

Not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. The teachers are all so kind and loving. The director and office manager are so helpful and have an open-door policy if you ever have any concerns or questions. One thing that I think is great is how they deal with conflict. A child is not put in a time out chair. They work with the children on conflict resolution having the children express their feelings and how better to solve their issue. The theme that surrounds each day at St. Paul Christian School is love and kindness to all. The community of parents are the most down to earth and kind people. The teachers and assistants at the school are superb. In as little as two weeks, my preschooler's vocabulary has improved tenfold and he is now completely engaged in learning. It is apparent that the teachers here give a lot of thought to and take great pride in creating their lesson plans. As for my toddler, the individualized attention he receives here has greatly improved his cognitive and fine motor skills. Each day, parents receive a report that includes daily activities such as personal care (meals, naps, etc.), curriculum, and photos. This is very special for parents as it keeps us completely connected during the work day. Administratively, the school is run flawlessly. The Directors are professional, courteous and responsive to the needs of the children and concerns of parents. My only wish is that The Goddard School went beyond Pre-K! The level of care, compassion, individualized attention and age appropriate curriculum at Goddard Monroe is truly impressive and so appreciated by our family. We came to Goddard from another highly regarded center nearby, and I am so grateful we did. It's apparent to me that the teachers like what they are doing, and that transfers to how they interact with the kids. Both of our boys grew more fond of and attached to their teachers at Goddard in 2 weeks than they did in the previous year at their old school. The daily updates, pictures and reports are a nice way to feel connected to the kids during the day. It gives us great info to be able to engage our kids in conversation about their day. Along with the teachers, the Directors are amazing as well. They are accessible and have truly taken the time to get to know the kids. They also have their own kids in the program, which speaks volumes. Overall, I cannot recommend Goddard enough and we are so grateful to have found such amazing people to care for our children.

Teachers are not well trained or supported. There is a very high teacher turn-around. We had several issues regarding the safety and hygiene at this daycare. We have given this daycare many chances, but they continued to disappoint us. We only stayed, because we happened to have a great teacher who has obviously since then left - following many other teachers who chose to work at different daycares that actually care about the education and wellness of the children.

I can't say enough about…read morethe teachers they are absolutely amazing, however if there are issues in the classroom the director does not remedy the situation in the proper manner. Their handbook states : BEHAVIOR POLICY It is our goal to provide a safe and nurturing environment at GCP. We work together with parents to help children develop inner controls to develop appropriate social behavior. Teachers use positive reinforcement, and redirection, along with instruction in classroom rules and the modeling of appropriate behavior and manners. Children are reminded of the school rules and encouraged to think of appropriate ways to express themselves. In order to keep children safe, GCP cannot allow hitting, pushing, shoving, biting, spitting, kicking or other aggressive behaviors that are harmful to a child themselves or to others. Multiple infractions can result in intervention by the Director and/or parents. If aggressive behavior continues, the preschool will request one or more of the following: 1. A parent may be called to pick up their child from preschool 2. A parent may be requested to accompany the child to school and remain in the classroom to prevent the aggressive behavior 3. Parent(s) may be asked to keep the child home until the behavior stops I can tell you from first hand experience that they do not follow their behaviour policy. My daughter had another child's hands around her neck, hair pulled, and snacks stolen by the same kid and to not deal with continuous weekly issues I had to move my daughter from that class to ensure it didn't continue. The director then told another parent, that the reason I had her moved was because I have "anxiety". She does not know how to talk with people and basically accused my daughter of saying one thing at home and another at school. This was an ongoing issues with other children in the class ... so we must all be lying? Due to all the issues we had we decided to pull her out for the 24-25 school year. They have a no refund policy for the deposit of $1000.00. We understood that there is a no refund policy however considering how they handled the situation, we asked to meet us half way. The response: "We do have a no refund policy unless it is an emergency ( death in the family, someone loses their job, a family moves away etc)." We asked to speak with board, a meeting was set up with the director and 2 individuals that were not members of the board. She must not understand that it is public record and I was able to find out who the president was and sent a certified letter to his home. All they provided was a "We would like to offer you our summer camp program free of charge." Well its not free of charge cause I gave you $1000.00 deposit. Beware of this preschool, many families have left and I'm sure all for good reason . They certainly do not follow their Christian values that they preach constantly.

Her teachers have always been extremely warm, welcoming, calm and reassuring. My daughter had previously attended a different school and would cry at every drop off and while she cried at first at Nitzan, I always knew she was being well cared for and she quickly became excited about school. She has learned so much while there. The play-based program is ideal for learning and exploring. My daughter is allowed to explore through art, reading, singing, dancing, building, and outdoor play. I love that all her art is 100% her (not a teacher created project)! Yes, this meant when she was 20 months, it was often scribbles on paper but now at 3.5 years old it's amazing to see the transformation. It is great to watch her being nurtured in a way that encourages her develop her own skills and own interests in a natural way. I am impressed at how her exposure to things at school through play has led to retention of so much. In addition and extremely important to me, my daughter, who is a bit more of an observer, has developed friendships and organically has developed her social skills without pressure through the positive, nurturing environment that Nitzan provides.
