Come here if you have an emergency. Trek down the road sucks! Staff is knowledgeable and don't blow smoke up your ahole with bombastic promises of customer service. They just deliver without the fake pomp and circumstance. MY MISTAKE THIS PLACE SUCKS TOO! So they text me to come pick up the bike and I'm like, alright, that was quick! So the guy in the back shout out to the counter guy. Yeah, the brakes are adjusted but it's still missing a piece. It's good enough to though. Good enough?! Tell me, would you ride E-bike that has "good enough" brakes. I don't understand. I would have put new brakes, new pads, damn I would have put hydraulics if they had shown some interest in my safety and in doing a good job! Fixing everything I asked them to fix 2 days later. Yah, waste of time, money and trust. Figured I'd bring my bike in to have the "experts" fix what I needed (rear derailleur tuned/adjustment, and front break) so I could easily get on Wiss for a ride. Mechanic didn't seem like he was interested in helping and I was the only one holding him up from getting out that day (other mechanic with glasses seemed super friendly and was really focused on the repair he was currently engaged in...unfortunately didn't get him). Seemed like he rushed everything, quickly handed my bike off to me and told me to pay at the counter. Then disappeared. Great, so I tested it out on the trail. And sure enough its like he didn't even index it or even mess with the limit screws. Couldn't shift properly between bottom three gears without the bike seeming like it wanted to kill itself. Also front break wasn't any better. Only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because I've had a 50/50 experience with customer service. There are some really nice employees there and I've had great experiences before this time. So test your luck I guess. Sorry I didn't buy a Santa Cruz if thats what the bad customer service is a result of. read more

Cadence is absolutely some of the best bike stores in Philadelphia. The moment I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted by the staff. They were very knowledgable about their bikes, and professional in explaining what compromises were made between different price points. While they didn't have a prebuilt bike in my size, they were able to have it ready in the same day and the staff was even gracious enough to move the bike I rode to Manayunk to their sister store in City Center. Overall I couldn't be happier with my trip to this store, even while waiting the staff were pleasant conversationalists. We took our to be 7 yo daughter there for her first peddle bike, and we were very pleased by the helpful, friendly and attentive staff. They helped her find a bike that fit her and she was very pleased with. They fit the bike with training wheels and adjusted it to her. Went back again a few days later and the employees were hanging out joking around with friends. Not one person approached me for 10 minutes. I have been looking for a full suspension mountain bike and visited several shops today. I plan on spending 3k. First two stores had great customer service. I went on test rides and really enjoyed the sales experience. I almost plunked down $3200 at the last place. I couldn't wait to get to Cadence because they carry Santa Cruz and they are excellent bikes. I walk in before going for a ride, so I look a bit sloppy. The place is empty. No one says hi or can I help you. No biggie at the moment. I walk around and look at some bikes. No one comes up. The staff are right there btw. I do another lap around the store and still no one says a peep to me. I even pause at the door and look back. NOTHING. Very odd experience! Ps they get two stars for free parking. read more

+ friendly staff + knowledgeable mechanics and owners + willing to patiently explain and talk about what options are available (bike purchases, components, accessories, etc) + never felt rushed like the folks are 'pushing a sale' + top of the line bike-fitting + great location for demoing or renting an off-road bike (given their proximity to the Wissahickon trails) + great communication (in person, over text, phone, etc) I have visited over 25 different cycling shops around the tri state area ... there are several great local shops around, and some are not so great - Cadence is one of the great ones! Cadence remains one of the three shops I choose to consistently return for service, to make a purchase, or ask a cycling question (where I go just depend on where in the Philly area I happen to be at the time!). And when there has been an issue - which can happen with any business, they make it right. The three owners are all top notch athletes (bike/run), and one or two are always around to help you out. Meanwhile, their mechanics are all very well trained, with no 'bike snobbery' about them. Lastly, I also appreciate that for a long time would lend their space and know-how to support the Philly bike coalition youth team. read more

Brought my bike in with a whole host of issues. Tristan was the mechanic who took my bike in and was straight forward and thorough. Between the bottom bracket, head set, cables, wheel trueing, and a second set of wheels that needed a hub rebuild , he (and Cadence) handled it all. Their prices were reasonable and the service was exceptional. I've been to 5 other bike shops in the Philly area and far and away these guys were the most receptive, helpful, and professional. (Not that the others weren't , Cadence was just the best.) I hate spending money, and I hate my bike not working, I will have no problem paying these people to work on my bike in the future. Six months ago, I bought new shoes, and inserts to go in the shoes. After a few rides, I found the inserts to be wrong for my feet, so I went in to buy a different set. Before I tried on the inserts, the employee cut them to fit in my shoes. Me: "Don't cut them, I don't know if I'm buying them!" Employee: "Don't worry. This is just to try them." I try them; they feel good. "So, I don't imagine I can exchange these old ones I've already worn." Employee: "Sure, don't worry about it." Me: "Should I go to the register?" Employee: "Nah I'll take care of it." And I left. It couldn't have been easier. I will say I haven't found their expertise to be great (the advice I got to buy the first pair was off-base). But the service makes up for it, and I'd certainly go back for my next purchase. read more

All the owners and most of the staff can ride faster than you but they are still down to earth and cool. They treat everyone the same from beginner to Pro. This review is regarding their bike service, not sales. I'm new to the area and typically get my bike cleaned and tuned up once a year. This year it was particularly dirty so I asked for it to be completely taken apart for a full wash. Seems like they did that at least. The bike looked spotless. Cut to my first ride on it. It was making a horrific amount of noise and lo and behold the chain was completely dry. Completely dry. No lube at all. This is like the bare basics of bike maintenance that even the occasional rider will typically take care of themselves and they did not even do that. Simply because of that, I would not be confident that they can handle larger or more complicated bike mechanical work. I'm a little worried about anything else that they touched, to be honest. I have been riding for a decade and have visited bike shops across the country and never had even close to such a poor experience. The guys were nice, but niceness does not make up for ineptitude. read more

Too Big for Their Britches! I took my road bike into Cadence for a tune-up. I was scheduled on a Monday, however, when I looked at their website, it said they were closed. I erroneously waited until the next day. Unfortunately, I lost my spot and had to be fitted into their schedule. So I left my bike there, a week later phoned them, to get the status. They did call me days later to pick up the bike. When I got there, I was charged close to $300 for cables, a chain, and handle bar tape. The bike was cleaned and the tape job was spectacular. I took my bike with me to Martha's Vineyard and thankfully did a short ride with friends. My chain and gears failed me. I took it to a reputable bike shop, Edgartown Bikes (Excellent) Shop and they showed me the chain was worn out 75% and the cables were shot. For a fraction of the cost, they replaced my cables, tape and chain. I could have been in deep trouble if I had used this bike the next day on a 45+ mi/1700 Feet ride. I am very disappointed. read more
