Do not expect to walk into the park and see a section where mounds of oyster shells are located. You are literally walking on the mounds throughout the trail. You will see the shells on the ground as you go. The sign that we read does not specify exactly what the mounds are, so we were confused at first when we stopped here. My sister stayed in the car with the kids as I walked to look for the mounds. She looked up what the mounds were while I came upon the realization that I was actually walking on them halfway through the trail. It was a little disappointing as that was not what we were expecting, but the vegetation was nice. I can definitely see why this spot would be great for bird watchers. I do wish the park was more maintained as I saw trash along the trails like cans and the wooden benches were not clean. Also, the sign really does need to be more informative on what the park actually is and features. The parking was nonexistent. We were lucky enough to get the small gravel area in front of the entrance, but everyone else would have to park on the road. It's a really nice place to just walk around, look at the different species of plants/birds, and due to the historical context of the mounds you walk on. It's cool to think back to how everything was before and what the indigenous folk were thinking about/doing.

This park has a very small beach, but if you want a larger beach, just walk north to the park on the other side of The Fairhope Municipal Pier, that is Fairhope Municipal Beach, that park has BBQ's near picnic tables, restrooms,and a playground on the beach. This park has benches and tables, trees, a rock area under a oak tree. This park is two levels, an upper and lower, I did not see the upper level, only the bottom level closer to the water. My dog really enjoyed it, I saw other people out very early, walking, exercising, & with their doggies. This is a very clean park, no vagrancy, litter, doggy doo anywhere. In fact, a lot of people were passing through the park so it was a beautiful day outside to sort of "people watch". Foley Park or this Centennial Plaza is located right off the main road while driving through Foley. Well, just to back up a little...the real reason I was visiting Foley was to have lunch at famous...Lambert's Cafe, where I hear they're known for throwing rolls all over the place and serving vintage southern fried food and catfish. I was excited to go to Lambert's. The only problem was when I arrived at Lambert's, the line to even put my name down on the wait list extended out to the front door. Ugh, what a disappointment. So...I decided to return to Lambert's later on in the day. And that's how I discovered this Centennial Plaza/Foley Park. Just needing a place to hang out for a little, this Foley Park was ideal to walk around and take it easy. When I visited here back in autumn, the weather was perfect and I actually appreciated sitting down on one of the many benches while taking a step back and simply chilling out. Hopefully, eventually, Lambert's would settle down a little and then I could return. I actually spent about two hours here at Centennial Plaza and enjoying the setting and cozy surroundings of the park. It was a pleasant way to break up my Sunday. Unfortunately when I left here and returned to Lambert's Cafe, the line was still very long and pretty unbearable to wait out. Too bad. In the end, I never got to sit down and eat at Lambert's. And for me being from South Florida and along my cross country road trip, I knew I wasn't returning here to Foley anytime soon. Well, still, I'd just like to point out how I liked my time spent here at Centennial Plaza/Foley Park. This was a cool spot I discovered on a whim and basically hanging out here, walking around and casually taking a seat on a bench was a good way to pass the time regardless of whether I got to eat at Lambert's or not. Although this park is just your typical quiet, public venue in the heart of Foley, I'd like to give it some recognition and a positive mention.

However, be careful as the roots from the pines run across the trails and if you are not careful you could fall. This is a nice park to bird watch or for the young ones to find creatures. You can visit this park and the other three in a single day because these parks are right next to one another. This park is on a hill, and one part of the park is a small Long Leaf Pine Forest, the other part a park with a memorial, veterans fountain, and benches atop a hill overlooking Mobile Bay. I did see one or two cars parked along the park for free, and I did not see any no parking signs, but I think most people that visit either park at Fairhope Municipal Pier or at Fairhope Municipal Beach at the bottom of the hill. There are no restrooms or playground (s) at this park, it is more devoted to nature, but restrooms, BBQs, and picnic tables are available downhill at Fairhope Municipal Beach. Most of the people I saw at or around the park were walking for exercise or walking thier dogs, like myself. Quiet and beautiful.
