This summer I have stayed at several Midwest casino hotels. So first, how they rank IMHO, then this specific hotel 1 MGM Detroit 2 Caesars Southern Ind 3 Isle Bettendorf 4 Harrah's KC 5 Treasure island MN The hotel and the casino are built on pylons, so you do feel shaking and movement. The room itself is well appointed, looks like they are trying to make it a destination, but there are some misses. First, the "hotel" parking structure, it's attached to the hotel by a skyway, and the only elevator in the structure is probably about 30-50 yards away from the front desk. The shower head pictured, it doesn't move, and at 6' tall, it made taking a shower a challenge The casino, it's confusing. There are "no smoking in this area" signs all over the place, and then there are non marked smoking places all over. After we arrived, there no people sitting at the bars, but there were lines 8-10 people deep waiting for drinks The casino is one of the smaller ones we visited I don't see a reason to return read more

Staff was awesome! Loved their text checkout option. Bed was firm but still very comfortable, plenty of outlets for charging, the bathroom was big and the shower and toilet are separate which is convenient. There were 4 pillows on the bed and you could text housekeeping if you wanted anything extra. Room came with a fridge, coffee maker, hairdryer and tv. *****Visited Gordon Ramsey steak for dinner, definitely more expensive than I remember but definitely delicious! Dani took excellent care of us, we had the pork belly appetizer, didn't care for the grits needed more berries, the steak was perfectly seasoned, the truffle fries were a little to greasy and limp and I suggest if u prefer ranch as a dipping option u bring your own, the dessert was soooooo small!!! The hotel is extremely outdated and poorly kept! We arrived and were greeted by the wonderful staff! Upon arrival to our room we started checking it out and on the bed was fresh BLOOD......disgusting! We immediately took our belongings back down to check in and got a different room, however that should never have to happen. Our room was comfortable with a nice view of the river, however our luggage is missing I was told to fill out the online form which I did. Here we are a week later and NOTHING!! Customer service was no help. I am now missing clothes, a suitcase my iPad a set of top dentures. I really feel like it was stolen. I gave the exact location it was last scene. Guests Tolerated, Not Welcomed We visited this property in early February, 2025. Our first mistake was following their signage which said to turn into the first drive for both the casino and the hotel. After parking and going up one level, the guard chastised me for coming to his station. I asked how to get to the hotel, and he gave me a long story about bringing our luggage up to his entry point, which they would have to hand check thoroughly. Then, we would have to carry our bags through the casino and walk 1/4 mile to the hotel. I asked if there was any alternative, and he said to get back in the car, turn left and take the first road to my left, which would take me to the hotel. Only problem? There IS no road to the left of the casino. We had to go RIGHT about 500 feet, turn right on an unmarked road and wind through the property to the hotel. Yes, the hotel is 1/4 mile from the casino. I guess they just wanted us in the casino spending money rather than getting to our room quickly to relax after a 4-hour drive. Instead, I got lectured for not knowing the property layout in advance. Duly noted! At the check-in desk, I presented the clerk with my Caesar's Reward card and she said she didn't need it. After we got home, I received an email from the hotel manager telling me I failed to earn points for my stay because I didn't give them my Rewards number. I emailed this story to the manager, but never got a reply - OR my points. I guess they have to pay Corporate a cut of the stay if the guest is a Rewards member, so they prefer to ignore the points program completely. When I finally got to the room - almost 1/2 hour after arriving on-site, the windows were covered with thick white plastic, so we couldn't see out. I went back down to get a different room, and the clerk said that entire side of the hotel was under renovation. Even though the hotel was only about 1/4 full, that was the only room we could have. So every morning from about 8 am until 5 pm, we heard jackhammers and drilling. Two seniors, and they gave us the noisiest room in the property. The room itself was very nice, but we were hoping for a relaxing getaway weekend rather than living in a construction zone. Housekeeping was very friendly, which made the trip nicer, but hotel management showed zero interest in making our stay enjoyable. Apparently the property DOES offer room service, but our room had no literature, no menu, absolutely nothing to tell us about the hotel or what services they offer. So as far as helping guests enjoy their stay, it was more like a Motel 6 rather than the luxury property we envisioned. Plus, the casino is literally 1/4 mile from the hotel. Yes, they have "people mover" walkways, but it's still a long way to walk for seniors like us. The casino staff was very nice for the most part. We came for the sports book only to find that they don't offer off-track horse race betting. Would have been nice to know in advance. Food venues were very limited, but overall the quality of the food was good. Slot machines weren't paying at all, but then again this is an Indian casino (although we only saw one person of native American descent on our entire visit.) Indiana - like most states except NV and NJ do not require casinos to pay out a fixed percentage of the draw. So they chose to tighten up the machines that weekend. They know people will still play them because there's nothing else to do. Table games were good and we actually won there, so I would recommend sticking to the live tables and avoiding the machines. Checking out, they asked if I wanted a printed or emailed receipt. I opted for emailed, but they never sent it. I still don't know what they charged me. Bottom line: we felt that the staff of locals really does not like out-of-town guests disturbing the peace and serenity of their casino. Point taken, and we will honor that request in the future. As a resident of Louisville Kentucky this is the only nearby place to come and legally gamble that isn't horse racing at Churchill downs (still haven't quite figured why it's ok to bet horses in Kentucky but not nfl games) Overall it's about a 25-30 min drive so it's not too bad of a haul. Very much out into the sticks with not much around. I usually come and donate my money about once every 5-6 weeks it seems. Black Jack is my poison. Although they do offer plenty of slots and other traditional games like craps, roulette, and Texas hold 'em This up until a few years ago was on a boat docked on the Water with 4 floors. But Cesar's got tired of closing due to high waters and things so they took a once luxurious lobby area that had quite A few nice restaurants and made it the casino floor. Us locals always just said "let's go to the boat" and that meant it's time to gamble. Even though it's not a boat anymore local people still call it the boat (guilty). I use to really love this establishment when it was the boat. It had plenty of tables, options, action and great paces to eat. Since it became just a one floor casino it's not as crowded with not as much action and it seems like it is 80 percent slots. They maybe have 3-4 black Jack tables at the most it seems. So if it ever has a decent crowd it's hard to get a table with your group sometimes. In the past there was plenty of options and it was easy. They did add a nice sports book area with TVs and live sports betting that I do enjoy. I watched a uofl basketball game there this past year and it was cool experience. Staff here is hit and miss as I'm sure it is with most casinos. Some dealers are super nice and others seem miserable. Which can change your whole vibe. The pit bosses there recently haven't been the greatest. I've seen more than a few uNecessary run ins a with other patrons. Never me though. I sit quietly and play my min hand black jack without much fuss. The food options here are not good anymore. Down to one restaurant called Jack binions which is a high dollar steak house that serves low priced tasting steaks. Out of all the restaurants the boat had before Jack binions was the worst and it's the only one they kept. They have a food court/cafe area where they sale way overpriced hamburgers and sandwiches. Like $15 a burger almost. And there not very good. They do have free fountain sodas spread out still. So that is one good perk that remained after they switched from "sea to land". Overall this place isn't as good as it once was. Casino smaller, less attractions, not the cleanest and less gaming options (outside of slots). The hotel attached always is what it was. A semi decent maybe 3 star level hotel that if you show up often you can get feee night stays Monday through Thursday pretty easily. All in all I keep coming back because the state of Kentucky refuses to legalize gambling and make the profits Indiana is. You have to be Churchill Downs to make gambling profits in our state it seems. Someone struck gold on that Monopoly. Since I'm not a horse guy I'll keep making the 30 min trek to the sticks of Indiana to get my gambling fix. I'll base my comments on the casino, as we didn't stay at the hotel. The complex overlooks a section of the Ohio River, isolated from city noise. There's an on-site garage with ample parking. Although signage to exit the garage is almost invisible. It's easy to go round and round several times before you figure out where to hit the down ramp. The casino is large, with tons of slots for a penny, quarter & dollar. There's a "high roller" section, and we steered clear of it. The casino also has electronic craps and roulette. And there's a section packed with poker tables. And of course, lots of TV's to watch sports. I didn't get any sense of smoking, even in the designated smoking area the filtration did a great job. There's a couple of full bars, a free self serve soft drink & coffee station, gift shop and a "food court" serving up overpriced things like fried chicken, meatloaf and traditional sides. Slightly less expensive is an area with burgers, sandwiches & salads. A Gordon Ramsey $teakhouse is coming. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Caesar's may not be Vegas, but it's a fun, clean and well run casino. Oh, I left with $10 in my pocket and a modicum of dignity. Don't ask what I started with. If you have not been here lately you must get here! Wow......the renovations they did make this one amazing casino. This is very much like a Vegas casino with ppl Monty of dining options and lots of casino games. I am always welcomed by a casino host and they inquire whether I need anything. Parking is also extremely easy with the lot right off the casino side. The hotel sits at the very back of the property and there is a golf cart that runs you to the casino during your stay. Binion's Steakhouse is a great place to eat but a bit pricey. We really like Smoke & Rye. This place is a bit out of the way but we usually combine it with a baseball trip over in Louisville as it is right over the river from this casino located in New Albany, Indiana. read more

It is an older casino/hotel which is fine some things could use updating like the bedding, and tv program. Check in and out was easy no issues. I got a non smoking room that did end up smelling like good ole marijuana and our comforter top was not comfortable but they fixed that and gave us a new one and was fine! The casino was nice with a lot of variety. They do not have drink girls walking around (I think I seen 2 both nights) like some do which was fine with me cause I don't drink and my husband didn't mind walking to the bar to get one if needed. We did not eat any of the food at casino however I was told was pricey but can not verify. We got a pizza from the hotel lobby cafe and it was good! We did Uber to Louisville one night just cause the casino is kinda out away from everything and a Uber ride round trip was about $80. Overall it was a decent stay and we would come back. read more

It's all new. Shiny and clean. But I didn't see anyone winning, and we sure didn't. No cocktail waitresses...only way to get a drink is to go to the bar. But that's not the worst. On a Thursday, with a sold out hotel the only food option was The Grill. Hamburgers, etc. And man was it swamped. We took a look and headed back into New Albany. The new land based casino has The Grill, and mexican place, pizza and one other place that served fried chicken, etc. if any of those had been open. Steak house only opens Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So this is a food wasteland. You could starve waiting for a burger. Common sense would tell you to get the other places in the food court open if you are sold out. Right? I used to love it here when it was a boat, we would get drinks and go out on the deck. Now there's no place to go outside and enjoy the river. You don't even realize there's a river. read more

I was profiled at this place and it quickly ruined the fun experience I had while I stayed there. I went here for the first time ever with my friends a couple of days ago and had a blast until the end of the night. We were in our room and went back down to the grill to grab some dessert before going to sleep. My friends step up and put their IDs into the machine with no issue and as soon as I approach the machine the guy at the counter told me I wasn't allowed back in and that security escorted me out. This never happened and even at one point the guy asked me "didn't you get escorted out?". They said I fit a description because of my Hawaiian shirt and had to wait for the manager to come down and let me through. The picture of the guy they had pulled up was a chubby 56 year old balding man and I'm a 23 year old toothpick with long hair. Once management came down they got everything straightened out and apologized for the inconvenience and started laying into the employees at the counter. If you got people that can't tell the difference between some 56 year old man and a 23 year old man, they do NOT need to be working the front, much less being security. Absolute morons they were but cheers to the nice lady that came down and made things right. read more

After spending the weekend at an airbnb two miles from the casino I stopped in the play the slots for a bit. It was 9.30 on a Monday morning and not at all crowded, which was nice. They did have a non smoking area and with the small crowd I was not bothered by the smoke. But if you walk near the smoking area, even with a small crowd the smoke as very noticeable. Plenty of slots and tables were available. I was looking for a slot machine where I didn't have to spend .60 or .80 cents on each spin. I asked one of the clerks on the floor who said that waxla my only option. After walking around for a bit I did find some slots you could play for .25 .30 and. 35 cents per spin. So she was not helpful. Plenty of parking and they have a hotel on premises. Not the best but by far not the worst casino I have lost money to. read more

Sometimes there can be to many people at the grill and it gets very stressful for the workers who work there. ANIMAL CRUELTY!!! Not that is should matter but I'm a diamond plus member with 43,300 points and it's $5 to get 1 point(do the math) I spend a lot of money there and honestly have never really had a great experience. I think there's 3 people that work there that know my name. Employees are rude petty and just not nice. I finally spoke to a manager strictly by accident cause nobody would ever return my calls. I voiced my concerns he seemed sympathetic and said he would discuss them at the next meeting. Well that night he got to see exactly how bad it is! I had stayed in the hotel for 5 days spending roughly $2k and one night i come back to my room to find my key won't work. I go to the front desk the lady says i owe them $110(it was actually $35 after they took my $75 deposit) for my dog. I told her nobody has said a word to me all week or when I checked in. She stop speaking to me and refused to let me get my dog or my stuff. I was like wtf u gonna do keep my dog Locked up w no food or water?!! Finally security convinced her to give them a key but i wasn't allowed to go in and get my stuff and dog. I went in anyway so they called the cops on me. JUST FYI THIS WAS AT MIDNIGHT WHILE IT WAS POURING RAIN FREEZING! I get my stuff and dog and walk outside to figure out what to do because my car is broke down an hr away the cop yells at me to leave now or I'm going to jail and my dog is going to the pound. So I start walking DOWN A 2 LANE HWY 10MILES LONG IN THE MID THE NIGHT IN THE POURING FREEZING RAIN!!! My poor dog was soaked shivering terrified of the cars and semi trucks speeding by at 80mph and honestly I can't believe we didn't get hit!! It's one thing to put me out in the cold rain but my dog?!! How can somebody be so heartless cold cruel and petty over $35 to somebody that spends six figures in their establishment which really shouldn't matter you'd think just on a human level nobody would do this. This is by far the worst thing that has ever happened to me at any business has ever done to me there is nothing even close. It honestly sounds like I'm lying about all this. Note I only experienced the casino facilities. And WOW! A clean, modern and nice place to gamble...but beyond that; a great place to eat, watch sports, catch a live band and have fun. They have several places to eat from noodles to grill, cantina bar food, buffet, to steakhouse. You will find something you want to eat. Everything is fresh modern and looks amazing. Many island bars with slot machines, some without. Many with TVs many by the betting sports area where you can catch the really huge TVs. At least one of the bars has a deck for a live band to play, that overlooks the river and the old boat Plenty of parking, I believe 4 or 5 levels of parking right next to casino. Staff is friendly professional and looking forward to a lot of visitors. I interacted with a few and they could not be more ready. A few things still coming together to complete the operation to 100%. Loved the recycle trash disposal and IMO more trash cans will be put in place. I walked around a bit with my empty cup trying to find one, but I could see corners that would eventually get a trash can so the place can continue to be spotless. Amazing place and great fun. I have gone twice so far and it has been fantastic both times! Security is not only friendly, but beyond professional because they went out of their way to locate missing cash for me. Service was pleasant from the hotel, to food and beverage, the drink bars and slot attendants as well! Jack Binion's Steakhouse delivered the BEST steak dinner I have ever had in my life. Bravo! The casino gaming floor is a simple, spacious plot and isn't too large or too small. The hotel rooms were exquisite in every way, from luxury beds, beautiful high floor views, large showers and of course a decent tv! Room service went out of their way to get us towels at an unusual time. Parking is conveniently level with the hotel lobby floor and the same platform takes you to the casino as well. read more

There is confusion on these Yelp reviews of what was Horseshoe the boat and Caesars Southern Indiana the new land base casino. Comments are so bad on their FaceBook page that most days comments are turned off. They definitely bit off more than they could accomplish with the Grand Opening 12/12/19. No orientation for staff as to answer any questions about the facility. Wrong directions given several times. Many slots not operational with results sheets attached to them. You could really figure the payback on each machine. Facility has some beautiful areas but then some cramped areas. The worse thing about the place is on the first day after being only open 3 hours, it smelled like an ASHTRAY! So many negative things can be said, but I'll concentrate on the second thing that will make it a failure, the Piazza. Some fancy name for a food court. Only Two choices. We tried the Homestyle side on the left. $34.00 of the biggest disappointment I have ever had. See picture. A small casserole of greasy meat for $11.00 with nothing else. Wife ordered roast beef with mash potato's. Servers had trouble understanding English that she wanted gravy on it. All sides are $4.00. Corn $4, corn bread $4. Plastic utensils and you are supposed to bus your own table. I guess they fired all the previous nice help that you made friends with over the years at the buffet. They need to go to Derby City in Louisville and see how Wagners does it. They decided to cut too much here and if they don't quickly evaluate and fix, it is going to be a losing property. I have no desire to ever return. You have to feed them for people to stay. Compare pictures. $34.00 Caesars food with plastic utensils. $29.00 Texas Road House with all the service you could ask for. I love staying at this location. We get the friendly service every time. The bell hops at the hotel are extremely accommodating to our group every year. I have a group of girls with a lot of hats for Derby and a lot of luggage. ha ha The casino is so fun too. It's 4 floors or fun and a lot of games and slots. The restaurants on the walk to casino are so good. We love the live music over there! Jack Binions is always a must one night for dinner sometimes two. The waitresses at Binions give the best service (Cheeto, Jean & Christy). We looked forward to our next trip to this location. read more

SENT TO CAESARS: I am writing to disclose my wild dissatisfaction with my stay at your hotel. We arrived 6/19 at 2pm. We arrived in our room only to relieve ourselves after a long drive and find there was no running water, quick call to the concierge desk that transferred me to engineering. No known reason for a water outage, encouraged to check back in 15 minutes. Decided the way to make lemonade out of lemons, take the kids and head to the pool. The floor of the pool was disgusting with algae growing on the pool deck, another guest mentioned "gosh this is so slippery." I opted to not get into the pool given the surround was so grossly contaminated and the hot tub was out of order. Of course while sitting at the edge the manager did come over and advise me we needed to wear our red bracelets to be in the pool area. Disappointed and frustrated we head back to the room to make plans for dinner only to discover, after discussing it with the concierge, my family can't eat ANYWHERE on the campus because I have children! I spent $130 for a one night stay in your hotel when I could have just as easily gotten a lovely VRBO down the road for the same, it would have been more accommodating, probably had complimentary water (you charge $4/bottle), had a hot tub that was functioning, running water, and a restaurant within walking distance that would have welcomed my children. This hotel is an absolute joke when it comes to hospitality and cleanliness of any sort! The advertisements and marketing are blatant falsehoods. I will be posting this same information to every social "trip advisor" type website I can to keep other people from making the same mistake. read more

I wouldn't say I frequented the casino when it was Horsehoe but I had been a handful of times since moving down to the Louisville area in late 2013. When the casino was still Horseshow I enjoyed the general ambiance of the place. It was busy and lively but not overwhelming. Sometimes casinos can be "too much" and it deters me from wanting to even gamble. The renovation is really nice I will say. Everything looked pretty clean and the lighting, color scheme, etc. was good for a casino type environment. Most of the staff was pretty friendly and helpful. That is really where my enjoyment of the place ends - overall, there were a TON of machines not even working (and this place just reopened!) I don't understand how you can renovate a casino and have ANY broken or malfunctioning machines upon reopening. I mean 3 or 4 over the whole floor is one thing but I literally counted at least 15 between the poker machines around the bars and just general slot machines in smoking and non-smoking. The other downside was the table games - Caesar's kept Baccarat which is my favorite table game - but the minimum buy in was $25! Even for a Saturday or Friday night that is overkill for a small casino in Southern Indiana. Caesar's of Southern Indiana is NOT a Las Vegas casino and I am not sure they are aware of that fact...I have found cheaper buy ins at tables IN Vegas! It's ridiculous. I might not mind paying that if all your machines were working and you had approptiately staffed bars for ordering drinks. At 7-7:30pm on Saturday night they literally had one bartender...ONE! I understand if you are in a hiring situation but then close that bar and full staff one of your bars and ensure you service customers. First of all I just want to start off by saying I hope nobody has to go through what I am going through. I have never experienced anything like this before. I have been playing darts for 3 years and we always have a big tournament at the end of our league. Well this year it was held here at Caesar's casino. During the event I was injured due to unnecessary behavior. I was on one side practicing darts and had just got my darts out of the board. During that time someone on the other side knocked down 3 boards and one of them came down on top of me. I reported it immediately because I was in a lot of pain. I even had witnesses that seen it happen, which wrote statements. It also was all recorded on their security cameras. Yet they refuse to assist me or provide me with all the information needed to take care of the bills that I am receiving due to the injury. They haven't even had the decency to contact me to see if I am ok. Also, I have to rely on someone to take me to my appointments because of the meds I am on due to the injury. I may need to have a complete rotator cuff surgery and have reached out several times to see how they want to do handle this. They gave me the run around the day of the incident and continue to give me the run around. I would highly recommend to anyone that plans on coming here to watch yourself because I am not the first person that has been treated this way. All I wanted was for them to give me the support I needed to take care of this issue. I do not feel that I should have to take care of this on my own. I like that casino more that it is now on land (not on the boat) i go there specifically to play roulette at the automated machines...not the table. But it is always packed. You have to wait for hours sometimes for people to get up. Drinks were great. The bartender asked me if i wanted a double. Good job upgrading me for more money. Like her hussle. Not that into slots... But everyone i go with love the Buddha and the Panda machines. Food is great. Service is great. Free pop and coffee. Pretty clean everytime i go. We have a child and there is nothing to do with them the room are nasty and out dated. All food areas but we could not eat with our child and the close the pool areA for adults only after 8pm which is the only thing they have to do for our child! Visiting the casino and hotel this weekend and was having a great time until security decided to not let me in this morning. I am 37 and lost my ID last week. I'm waiting on my appointment for a new ID next week, covid delays. I asked for the security supervisor and instead of understanding my situation and accepting the digital copy of my drivers license he told me I was lying about being allowed into the casino for the past 24 hours. Pretty unprofessional of security to accuse a customer of lying. Last time I checked I can even verify my Identity at an airport without an ID last time I lost it and had to fly without being accused of lying. read more
