I loved playing here over the past month. The staff is great and the players are friendly.

So many People put their chairs up to save the slot & walk away for quite a while. And not just here & there. I've never seen it done as much as it was here. And that's saying something. The music was very loud but fun. It was definitely a vibe. I can see where some people go to just mingle & enjoy that. The bar was packed & seemed to be moving good. I just went for a night cap to end my Birthday. I went home with extra so yay for that lol. In the future I'll go during the early bird hours. SN: It might look smaller but there are 200+ more machines here than at the Caesars across the river.

The amenities are nice and there are complimentary water bottles in the fridge and coffee en suite. There unfortunately is not complimentary breakfast, but there is a la cart paid food as well as a 24/7 convenience kiosk. The parking lot is well lit, spacious, and there are plenty of security cameras and the occasional patrolling security/police officers (it is a casino after all). We had a lot of luggage in the car but felt fairly safe keeping it parked overnight. If you're passing through and looking for an option that won't break the bank and offers good peace of mind for safety, I recommend stopping here.

They call it the place of the "Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports."…read more This was actually our second visit to Churchill Downs and I think it was more exciting than the first which consisted of a 2-3 hour tour of everything! This tour took us on a short 30-45 minute basic tour so we really spent more time outside in the grandstand than anywhere else with our guide. She was very well-informed and knowledgeable and made our time together valuable. She pointed out special places of the racetrack; the best seats, the Starting Gate, Finish Line suites, Winners Circle Suites, Paddock seating... and, of course, the General Admission section. There were many options for all types of budgets. The first thing I did when I returned to the hotel was to sign on a look to buy two seats. Our group from the American Cruise lines river cruise that we had just finished had a screening [on the ship] of Secretariat, so we were all excited to be there and see the special exhibit about her in their very comprehensive and fun museum. One day I want to be able to attend a Derby Day. It must me exhilarating to be part of the tens of thousands of people all there with the express concern of having a good time [and wanting to see their horse win.] Lots of pictures and people having a good time ecven if it's 103 degrees outside. For my first time horse racing, the handy guides provided clear directions on the steps to place a bet with a human or one of the electronic machines. If you worry about the heat or the noise of the crowd, millionaires row tickets are worth the price. Reserved seats and a dinner buffet were well worth the $100 per person. The homestyle dinner buffet featured green beans, Mac and cheese, potato salad, salad, baked beans, BBQ pork, BBQ chicken, cookies, and brownies. The food was on the bland side but good quality, and there was plenty of everything. The service of Churchill Downs was the low part of my experience. Sitting in Millionaire's Row, we were assigned a server who did not frequently appear, and other servers had to track her down for us. I was also not thrilled with how IDs under 30 were handled. When you approach the ID tent, workers were dismissive and not helpful as people under 30 had to have their ID scanned in a separate location. When I arrived at the second ID location, we found a lengthy line and only one scanner in use. Plus that scanner was having difficulties with certain IDs.

Our Mississippi River Cruise from American Cruise Lines put us up here for a couple of evenings at the end of our cruise and we stayed an additional three days to tour Louisville. Not having to worry about a car certainly drop the stress level down a bit. We were able to walk to most places and where we elected to 'Uber,' the rides were just a couple of minutes. Our room was very nice with plenty of moving and storage space, great views, excellent TV, solid bed, good size bathroom with a wonderful shower and HOT water, and... a great view. We ate breakfast in the hotel a few times and all was good and very reasonbly prices and when we ventured out, there were plenty of shops just walking-minutes from the hotel. I ventured up to their rotating restauarant and swear I will be back on my next visit. It is beautiful and the food looks and smelled wonderful (See seperate review.). We also ate lunch at one of their restauarnat and found it very good. Our favorite place, "Jeff Rubys" was just accross the street and made dining there for the one minute walk back better then perfect. I am not sure why I see reviews under four stars. The Galt House really takes good care of their guests. If you have a bad day... don't write a bad review. KUDOs to the team at The Galt House.

Great professional staff and safety is their #1 priority. Located right in the city, just a short drive to get there. This is the most open cavern I have ever been in and you almost feel like you are in a dark warehouse, it's so big! No "tight" spaces of any kind. Heights might be your issue if that is a concern. If you have any climbing, repelling, spelunking, or exploring experience, this is a "walk in the park" for you. No experience is needed and they take care of everything. All you have to do is zip when you're told. Have fun! Shoutout to Bethany M., an excellent staff member.

Online booking mentions that it is a 2.5hr experience but with a smaller group of 8, it only took 1.5hr for all the zip lines. Overall a very fun experience and great with big groups! The Bad: Do not get the picture package!! The picture is taken at a standing platform after one of the zip lines, not an action shot!! The Ugly: It felt a little sketchy going down the barren hallway. It was a 5 min walk that felt like you were going through an industrial hallway and it just felt out of place to keep going if the signs were not there. On to my next adventure....
