I went here for the first time about a month ago.
LOCATION: It's in London, near Hyde Park, in a hotel. It's easy to find and you don't have to go through the hotel or anything to get to it. 4/5
ATMOSPHERE: They have an inside area, which I honestly didn't pay much attention too, as we just breezed past it, as well as an outdoor patio, which was fairly nice as well. 3/5
SELECTION: It's all vegan and they have British and French dishes, plus some others. Breakfast items are those like a full English breakfast and brioche French toast. Lunch items include those like mushroom bourguignon pie and mash and a quiche. Plus, they've got all-day desserts and afternoon tea. Best of all, not only do they label which items contain nuts, soy, and/or gluten, but they are very accommodating despite the labels, at least if you contact them ahead of your visit. More on that below. 4/5
WHAT I GOT: I am vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free, so I did so much research trying to find a place in London that had reasonably priced afternoon tea that would be able to pull this off for me. Cafe Forty One was the best bet. I contacted them a few days prior to our visit, explaining my situation, and they happily said they could accommodate that request. When I got there, I was a little confused because our waitress kind of seemed confused when I brought up my emailed request, but then it got all sorted out, and it turned out great. The chef even came out and explained to me that they had a hard time looking for qualified bread, so she made some herself out of quinoa flour or something. So yeah, I got a full afternoon tea set that met my dietary requirements -- four different sandwiches, two plain scones with berry compote and clotted cream, four desserts, and a pot of peppermint (my choice) tea. And it all tasted good too. The bread surprisingly was amazing for the sandwiches. The sandwiches overall were good -- they weren't like the best I've ever had, but still pretty darn good lol. The scones were great and didn't taste too heavy or anything, and the desserts were tasty and quality too. Plus, the tea was actually really good too. The one major negative I had was that I wish there was at least one chocolate dessert because I love chocolate (in fact, I hardly ever have desserts, but when I do, they're always chocolate), but the chocolate ones probably aren't gluten and/or soy-free or something, so it's not a huge deal, I guess. Anyways, I'd highly recommend this cafe, especially if you have allergies and are looking for quality afternoon tea. Oh also, the people I was with got regular menu items and enjoyed them too, in case anyone was wondering about those. 4/5
SERVICE: The service was pretty good. Our food didn't take too long and like I talked about above, they were very helpful, understanding, and accommodating. 4/5 read more
