They help with the festive cheer and perk up my cold and tired Monday mornings. On a particularly cold and early morning, I decided to head to good old Costa for a vanilla latte before I hopped on the train. Once I had my order, I noticed that my latte was lacking in vanilla, so I politely pointed this out to the barista, who apologised and said he would make me another drink. He then proceeded to pump FIVE shots of syrup into my cup in a rather annoyed manner and handed me my drink with a sarcastic smile. Shocked, confused and almost late for my train, I went on my way with the drink in hand. When I got seated on the train I took a sip of my coffee, which was absolutely revolting and had so much syrup in it that it was completely undrinkable. I was appalled at at the attitude of this staff member, so much so that I sent an email to Costa's customer services explaining my annoyance. Around a week later, I received an email of apology, that assured me that this behaviour was unacceptable and that I would be sent a £5 gift voucher as a goodwill gesture. I never have been back to that branch, but I was pleased with how Costa dealt with my complaint and I spent my voucher on treating myself to a great big adequately syruped latte elsewhere.

As I've said in previous reviews, I'm not a big coffee drinker so I decided to go for a tame cinnamon latte which tasted amazing. I also treated myself to a lemon and orange muffin although it was pretty disappointing and didn't taste like orange or lemon... it was just like eating a moist tasteless dough. Ew. It's rather popular so gets quite busy but when I was in the super efficient staff ensured that the queue moved quickly and I was on my merry way.

I had never been here before until very recently and, amusingly, for all the same reasons that Stewart Lee mapped out in his recent stand-up performance in Glasgow. They have a loyalty card and they're super cool with heating up milk for your kids (this is not a universal theme, but credit where it's due, Starbucks are also cool with this). Such was the motivation for my friend, who I met with her 2 year old, meeting here. There's only a handful of places that are cool to meet with kids going through the terrible twos but this was a good shout. The coffee was also good. Which is good.

The worst customer service ever…read more So I was overcharged in a store when I purchased a gift card and took a sandwich to eat out. The reason as to why I was overcharged was because I was charged an eat-in cost of the sandwich, which is already overpriced... I realised this when I got home only. I messaged their customer services team, to be told they can only refund to a gift card? I explained that I obviously did not buy a gift card for myself. Again, the team came back to me to say a refund to my original payment method (debit card) is not possible? Who comes up with such policies? Not worth the hassle, avoid at all costs.

There's something for everyone at this wee cafe; obviously coffees of many varieties, tea/s, hot chocolate, etc.. sandwiches, soup, paninis, pastries, fruit, chocolate bars, biscuits, you name it! How they pack it all in such a dainty space I do not know. I was about to say my favourite here is the cappuccino (with an extra shot - ZING!) but I've also had lattes, americanos, flat whites & flavoured coffees and they've all been very nice indeed. AMT is a British company that uses fare trade coffee, organic milk & also pay 100% of their taxes.
