I was on a trip to the wonderful city of Glasgow from the US with my mom. We went to the quaint Hidden Lane Tearoom our first day in to unwind and enjoy delicious treats. First you go down an alley, only to reveal a secret enclave of an antique store, corner shop, and the tearoom. The square itself is fun to explore and great for photos. Once we sat down in the charming tearoom, we were greeted by a friendly and accommodating server. We ordered the afternoon tea. Honestly I could rave about this place. I just love afternoon tea to begin with so there's that, but honestly I feel like the teas were just SO lovely. I had their house chai and their London fog, both of which were creamy and SO flavorful and served in the loveliest teapots. The finger sandwiches and cakes were also really good and I actually did leave full, as did my travel companions. The servers were friendly and checked in often, and the place itself was actually fairly big (had 2 floors and we sat in a corner on the second floor), but it had a quant feel. The cost per person was reasonable in my opinion at £16 per person for a mini pot of tea and selection of sandwiches and tea cakes. We really enjoyed our experience there and I would recommend it to anyone looking to have a lovely afternoon tea! read more

I would love to give you a proper review of The Hidden Lane Tearoom but I cannot as myself and my assistance dog were refused access to the tearoom today. Despite me notifying the staff several times he was an assistance dog and has access rights under the Equality Act, staff refused to allow me in. I was left disappointed, angry and humiliated having to leave with my wife and children. It's a disgrace that in 2024 cafes still treat disabled people so poorly and put barriers in place to prevent access to areas non disabled people can use all the time, as well as this being in breach of the law. If you are disabled, or support disabled rights, don't visit The Hidden Tearoom, we're not welcome. *My assistance dog was wearing a jacket which clearly showed he was an assistance dog provided by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and registered with Assistance Dogs UK. read more

We walked in, the place wasn't even that busy, and a heavier set girl said "we're not seating anyone!" And I replied with "no problem we'll get scones and cream to go" and she proceeded to throw an actual temper tantrum, acting so put upon. When I asked for water she asked what kind and I replied with "whatever is easiest" and she snapped at me "what kind?" Then when I asked for extra jam she actually stormed off? Her poor co workers had to take care of everything while she went outside and smoked. Pretty appalling behavior read more

Imagine stepping through an arch into a quiet little backstreet and into the fairytale tree doll house you always wanted to have when you were a child. This is what The Hidden Lane Tearoom is. Step off Argyle Street and turn left and keep walking, you may miss it. Let me explain what I mean with fairytale teahouse, mismatched teapots and adorable quaint and flowery teacups, whimsical lampshades, interesting jewellery for sale, cakes in all shapes, sizes and flavours and tea upon tea. We sat upstairs on the mezzanine and the waitress was helpful was wearing a lovely owl-patterned dress. They make their own chai, just for that reason everybody should come here. How delicious their chai is, too. Their lavender Earl Grey, the smell was lovely. I have to confess that I have passion for tea and I love, love, love Earl Grey - especially loose leaf. Tea is the best. I digress. I don't know what they do to their scones, but it was divine. I love the crunchy outside and the light fluffiness on the inside. The clotted cream was also amazing, but the tea is just a thing of beauty. The sandwiches my friend ate also looked delicious, and some of their other savoury options are making my mouth water. I can see myself coming here alone, with a good book to sample some more of their delicious tea and some of their baked and cooked goods. One last bit of advice, don't try and lean on the bannister of the mezzanine. It's rather wobbly. read more

This is a charming little tearoom, decked out with vintage crockery and decor, along with artwork and crafts from the nearby businesses. They have a good variety of teas, as one would expect from a tea room, served in generous sized pots, without the flavour being diluted. I had lemongrass and ginger, it was really flavoursome and refreshing. I have found my new tea! They also do non alcoholic cocktail teas, which I'd never heard of before. Maybe they invented them. An example would be a London Fog which is Earl Grey, steamed milk and vanilla, and they also do iced teas such as Strawberry and Kiwi. I'll definitely try one of them in the summer. I was surprised at how extensive their menu is too. Along with the many cakes and high tea type options, they do soups, sandwiches, a cheese/meat/humous/olive etc board, and also some specials - today it was a bean chilli. I'd heard that they did vegan cake, and sure enough they do! There was a little bit of confusion around this - I was told that it was carrot cake but this cake had never seen a carrot in its life. It was a chocolate sponge with walnuts and a vanilla cream topping. If there's one thing I know in life, I know my vegan cake! It was lovely, I would have been happy with this or carrot cake to be honest. But there's a point to be made that a tea shop specialising in cakes should at least know what cake they are serving! To be fair, they'd been told by the supplier that it was carrot cake, but one look at it should have confirmed otherwise. One other thing I would comment on is that when we arrived, there were quite a few tables with uncleared dishes which makes a place really unappealing on first visit. And I also noticed the waitresses dealing with other tables, and missing things out, or taking the order to the wrong table and so on. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt as the place was very busy, and it was a bank holiday. The staff were also lovely, which made up for any inefficiencies - a little bit of charm goes an awfully long way, and this place has it in spades. I also happily discovered that they always have a vegan soup option, and normally their special is vegan too. It's lovely and warm too, so a great cosy wee tea room with a good selection of food and drink options. Definitely a winning combination in my eyes. I will return. On a dreary Saturday afternoon in Glasgow, what else is there to do but have tea and cake? That's what my friends and I thought when we headed out to The Hidden Lane Tea Room last weekend! We walked down the cobbled lane just off Argyle Street in Finnieston, and spotted the tiny tea room in the far left corner. It's quite well hidden and unless you were looking for it, you probably would never even spot it, but it's definitely worth a second glance. We walked in to find the tea room crammed, and a staff member told us there were no tables available except a small couch upstairs we could squeeze onto until something else became available. We didn't fancy going back out in the rain so we headed upstairs and sat down on the comfy wicker couch, perusing the menu. The interior of the tea room is honestly adorable. The mezzanine level we were sat on had a enough tables to seat around 10-15 people, while downstairs was divided into two rooms that sat around 20-25 people in total. The style is very vintage, with old books, antiques and beautiful tea sets on every surface and shelf. The whole place has an interior that feels like spring, with lots of floral prints, pastel tones and worn wood. There are lots of different Afternoon Tea options so whether you just want a little bite, or you want to devour all three tiers, there's something to suit everyone and prices start at just £6 each! We decided to order the 'Sweet Treats' for three - Afternoon Tea without the savoury element, just pure, cakey goodness - along with a pot of Turkish Apple tea. Before our drinks had even arrived, the waitress came to tell us there was a proper table available, so we moved downstairs to a table opposite the kitchen area, where we could watch the baking happening before our very eyes! It was clear from this view that everything is made fresh in house, with batches of scones constantly going in and out of the oven. It was quite fun watching them work, but they were clearly feeling the heat as the place was completely full. Our tea arrived in a large vintage style tea pot, a set of miss-matching cups, which were adorable, and a couple of tea strainers. The tea smelled fantastic and the strainer caught pieces of apple used to infuse it. We also asked for some tap water, but I think they were so busy they forgot about it, as it never arrived! Our three-tier cake stand arrived shortly after, carrying a layer of scones generously filled with jam and cream, and two upper tiers of cakes and sweet treats. We decided to start at the bottom with the scones - I don't usually like scones with raisins in, but these were so fresh and delicious. In the middle was a coconut layer cake with a strawberry on top, which was nice but probably my least favourite of the selection. My favourite was the piece of chocolate brownie on top which had fresh raspberries through it. The chocolate was dark and rich, but the raspberries provided bursts of freshness. Other cakes included a mini blueberry bakewell slice, another, super fudgy chocolate square and a little almond biscuit with glacé cherries. For just £8 each, including the tea, this was a really good deal and the surroundings are just lovely. It's a really authentic Afternoon Tea experience where you know all the cakes and bakes are not mass produced, but baked in front of your eyes and cut & decorated by hand. This makes the service a bit slower, but I think it's worth the wait! There's an added bonus too of bringing your own bubbles, so you can pay a one-off corkage fee with Luxury Afternoon Tea with your own bottle of Prosecco or Champagne - perfect for celebrating! read more

The name says it all - this tearoom is hidden away off Argyle Court aka the Hidden Lane. Wander down the lane, turn left and head to the end. On your left you'll find the tearoom - a really lovely wee space with delicious cakes to tempt you through the door. There's also a mezzanine area for seating, and a room through some doors which looks like they'd use it for private functions/parties. I opted for a piece of cake which had plum and cheesecake through it, but also a little bit of pastry. I'm not much of a cake eater (which I'm kind of embarrassed about) so I don't know the proper name, but I do know that it was properly delicious. Soft, sweet, creamy and light, it was all the things I like in a cake. I thought I'd try something a little different with it, and opted for an apple and mint iced tea. This was served in a teapot, hot with a glass filled with ice to pour the tea over. As I'd never had it before I double checked with the waitress what to do, just in case my initial instincts were wrong! Thankfully I got it right, the tea perfectly chilled after being poured over the ice and really tasty. It possibly needed to brew for longer but I didn't realise. This is a really lovely tea room which is a great space to spend an afternoon over some tea and cake, having a chat or reading a book if you're on your own. So today I got an email to tell me I had become Elite, which made me so happy I knew I had to celebrate with cake.. My friend has a studio down the Hidden Lane so I messaged her and we decided to meet at The Hidden Lane Tearoom.. I love heading up the Hidden Lane as you feel like your out of the city centre and in a quaint little street in a little village.. It's hard to find as the name suggests it's well hidden.. It's just off the finneston side of Argyle Street not far from the tesco and on the same side.. You walk up the lane and turn left walk along the cobblestoned road and you'll find the tearoom in the corner. When you walk in it is so cute and flowery with teapots and cups decorating a beautiful sideboard.. I've been in before but I've never sat up stairs.. The place is small with maybe around 10 tables but that adds to the charm of the place.. They offer cream teas, sandwiches an array of cakes and lots different teas and coffees.. I opted for a scone with cream and jam and a hot chocolate.. I'd asked for cream and marshmallows when it arrived it had one giant marshmallow in the middle.. I wasn't keen on this as it was difficult to eat and was a bit sickly after a few bites.. The girl told me this was a new thing so not sure how long they will last.. read more

Getting a proper afternoon tea has been on my bucket list since I've moved to the UK and yesterday the time has finally come! A friend of mine from home was visiting, so I took it as an opportunity and took her to The Hidden Lane Tearoom, which I've heard great things about. Thanks to Briony's previous review we were able to find the place quite easily in it's truly hidden location, which I think is very romantic. Just as romantic and cute is the interior of this place, I absolutely love the atmosphere there. We got the Luxury afternoon tea for 2, with selection of 4 sandwiches, 5 mini cakes, a scone with cream & jam and unlimited tea/coffee. First we ordered some tea - I chose apple & rose. It arrived in beautiful teapots with matching cups and it was really tasty as well. Then the food arrived - wow. Not sure if I've ever seen anything looking so appetizing in my life, so wonderfully arranged with so many beautifully looking cakes and sandwiches. I was a little afraid the taste couldn't match the looks, but it honestly tasted even better than it looked. Those cakes -definitely the best I've had it Glasgow so far, trully heavenly. And the scones with clotted cream and jam with big chunks of fruit - ahhhh. I've tried 2 more teas during our visit - peppermint (probably my favorite one) and blueberry rooibos, both really good. The staff was really friendly and made sure before serving our tea we didn't have any dietary restrictions/allergies and made the visit even more pleasant. So, as you can probably tell already, I'm absolutely smitten with this place and can't wait to go back for some more of that delicious cake & tea. I was in Glasgow a few months ago, and was absolutely delighted to find this little gem on one of my walks. The selection of teas, biscuits, scones, and sandwiches left me feeling content but not overly full. The gals waiting tables were nice but not fawning--just what I like about Scotland. This is a treasure we found that I will never ever forget while we are on vacation in Scotland. I am heartbroken that we can't go back to this place over and over again. The Hidden Lane Tearoom is one of my favourite places in the city. It's very hidden, in fact we stumbled upon it while taking a curious stroll through Finnieston one Sunday afternoon, and decided to take a look. Otherwise, we wouldn't have known it was there! Though, many people do know it's there, and it's best to make a reservation if you plan on going on the weekend. The tea is lovely, and served in individual teapots. The cakes and sweets are all made in house I believe, and it's clear they're made with love. The meringues are AMAZING, with cream and berries. Styli also raves about the scones, so we recommend those too! Last time I was there I had a bacon, Brie, rocket and apple sandwich, which was spectacular. It came with crisps and a small salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Well worth the £5. A friend had the soup (broccoli I believe) and loved it too. I bring all of my friends visiting from overseas to this tearoom, as they love the "British afternoon tea" feel that you get. I'll be back again! read more

What an absolute treasure this place is. I've been meaning to pop in for ages, and just never made time until now. My friend was visiting from the states, who has an absolute love for antique furniture and dishes and tea. Honestly, it couldn't have been any more perfect for us! We made sure to make reservations, as we tried popping in at random with my boyfriend and a few of our friends, and were turned away due to the place was packed. No bother, reservations made, we showed up a bit early, hoping we could get in. Being it was a Tuesday mid day booking, we were one of two groups of people there, which was fine. It made for a more cozy atmosphere, being catered to alone. We knew already what we wanted, we were in specifically for the afternoon tea. We ended up getting the bigger version available because we wanted the full on experience. What totally sold me on this place forever, and what I say to people every time this place is mentioned is that they offer not only loads of hot teas but they also offer iced tea. Iced tea!!! Let me say it one more time....Iced Tea!!!!!! For anyone who knows me, you all know I'm originally from Texas, where Iced tea is life. I great up in a household where on a regular basis, my mom would have a jug of tea brewing in the sun, only to be poured over ice. Honestly, it doesn't get any better than that. But, I digress... The tea was amazing, and I stuck with iced teas. Suki teas to be exact, which are now my favourites an can only really be purchased on line. Mango iced tea and mixed berries iced tea is what I stuck with. I'm a sucker for anything Mango and so I was in heaven. My friend ordered her fair share of hot teas and was happy as well. The beautifully presented afternoon tea went down a treat as well. It introduced my friend to coronation chicken which she had never heard of, but vowed to make it once she arrived back home and introduce it to her friends and family. My favourite out of the lot was the mini brioche bun filled with brie, apple, rocket and a balsamic glaze. Heaven in my mouth, to be honest. There were also your usual suspects of egg and cress and tuna. The desserts went down a treat as well. The best of all of them were the french macarons and what looked to be a scottish macaron. So delicious and well made, we felt spoiled for sure. All in all, the experience of a proper tea was the best I've had thus far. Nothing posh about it, and we quite liked it that way. The location is very unassuming, literally down a hidden lane in Finneston and the staff were super friendly and accomedating. I think we even asked what music they were playing as it was an amazing acoompaniment to the day. It was an acoustic channel on spotify. I will be back here for sure in the near future, even if for some iced tea, which in all honestly can make any type of day I'm having even more amazing. read more

Almost certainly the most civilised spot to get drunk and eat cake on a Saturday afternoon. Stopped by to grab a pot of tea with a friend but ended up opting for two 'Wee (afternoon) Teas'. Amazing atmosphere - in the company of lovely folk totally delighted by their towers of sweet and savoury treats, supping champagne. This place is a sort of working home bakery-cum-cafe. Every time I visit, there's dough being rolled, mixtures being prepared and trays coming out of the oven. Our Wee Tea was only £6 a head, so great value. My friend got a free £5 for paying with the Droplet app (The Tearoom's loyalty scheme that also lets you pay using your phone, I've already got it), so hers was only £1(!). Came here for a quick lunch on Saturday after it was recommended by a work colleague. For a place that's so well hidden away, it was packed - I really wasn't expecting her to hesitate when we said we hadn't booked a table for two. Happily, she found us a wee table upstairs. It's a lovely place with a great retro vintage feel and lots of quirky things to look at. Bottles of real lemonade served with jars for glasses and the proper old-fashioned drinking straws made of card that you used to get when I was a wee girl. (I had a sudden flashback to how rubbish they were if you managed to squash them because then you couldn't sook your lemonade through the straw, but luckily I managed not to do that!) I had a ciabatta sandwich with hummous, beetroot and carrot and my friend had a ploughman's sandwich on brown bread. Both were really substantial and super tasty, served with a side salad and some crisps. Both came in at £5 and along with the lemonade the whole thing was around £7 each - totally reasonable. We didn't try any of the cakes because we'd already had cake that morning, but they looked good enough that I'm definitely going back with Him Indoors at some point for coffee and cake (especially the Victoria sponge, I've got my eye on that). The last time I decided to pay a visit to the HLT the place was so busy unfortunately we were turned away, but thankfully on a bank holiday Monday we managed to get a spot at this much-loved but tucked away tearoom. With the sun coming in the window our table on the upper level was a great spot for wiling away a few hours with some munchies. The menu has your usual selection of sandwiches and soup , afternoon tea and some savoury options. I always feel that afternoon tea is a bit much for 1 person, so I was pleased to see the sweet treat option, which lets you just have the scone and a sampler of some mini treats. Mr T was hungry so he opted for the cheese and chutney sandwich which came with some crisps and salad on the side and was a success with Mr Ts tastes! My sweet treats consisted of half a scone which was nice with some jam ( I asked for it on the side), a mini sort of rock cake thing which had a yummy marzipan taste off it, a mini chocolate cake with some sort of buttercream, a mini brownie (which was tasty despite it being coffee flavoured, and my least favourite from the bunch - a mini cupcake which had a strange taste of it - could have been some sort of poppy aniseed mix). These came with your choice of tea and my apple mint was really refreshing and pleasantly sweet. At £8 for the sweet treats and £5 for the sandwich, it was pretty good value for money. My only criticism would be I would have maybe have liked a choice of sweet treats ( ie I would have liked to have known what I was getting, and missed out the coffee/ strange cupcake), but other than that it was all lovely. This was another place I'd wanted to visit for a while having heard you were pretty much guaranteed there would be at least one vegan cake available. One thing I particularly like about this place is that it sells itself as a proper tearoom - not a cafe-cum-bar-cum-desserts-cum-soup-cum-fish and chips one stop shop. They offer a range of sandwich filling options and a large selection of teas. Afternoon teas, I think, must be something which stands them out from other venue options for a coffee & cake. There are 4 different sizes of afternoon teas, from a Wee Tea (£6 pp) up to a Luxury Afternoon Tea (£15 pp). I believe they also do vegan afternoon teas too (with notice). I can't wait to go back for this! I just opted for a simple iced americano - which arrived in a tall jar - and my friend chose a Peach Melba tea. She commented that it tasted just like tea, and would have preferred more peach flavour and more of a sweetness. The cakes were winners all round. They had two vegan choices that day - a mint chocolate cupcake or some sort of crumble. As the waitress wasn't entirely sure they had any dairyfree cream in the tearoom to offer with the crumble my friend opted for the same selection as me, the cupcake. It was wonderful, from the shiny green glittery sprinkles, to the moist centre, with just the right amount of icing. Perfect! I plan to go back and have an afternoon tea some time soon and be a bit more adventurous in my drink selection, and be bumping my update up to a five. read more

This place was fabulous! They were very accommodating when we came in. They were very allergy conscious and immediately asked when taking our order. We got the classic afternoon tea set which included a pot of tea or coffee and a cake/sandwich/yummy deliciousness stand. They have quirky vintage tea sets with a range of cup and saucer sets you can purchase if you fall in love with them. It was fairly reasonably priced, only 12 pounds. Would definitely recommend, although it is hidden down a lane so look for the sign! read more

We had tea here late one afternoon and it was lovely. The atmosphere is wonderfully cute. You get quite the bang for your buck as well, as the prices are low and the quality and quantity are perfect! We had the earl grey blue flower tea, finger sandwiches (they were very accommodating for vegetarians) and scones. Everything was delicious, especially the scone! A wonderful, quirky independent tearoom and a real Finnieston gem. The food is delicious - cakes are freshly made in-house (if you go late in the day, the smell of the next day's batch baking will have you drooling) and a fabulous selection of teas, as well as great coffee. It's a very cosy spot - warm and wonderful on a dreich day, and they also have intermittent events - craft fairs and the like, as well as featuring art from some of their neighbours in the lane. I believe they do outdoor catering now and having recently extended, often book out the new extension for parties. The food is flawless - towering cakes, wholesome soups and stews - and the scones are light and glorious (watch out though - as they are made daily, they can sell out) - pair one with a pot of chai latte for comfort food of the gods. read more

So cute! So adorably, twee and pretty. If a little uncomfortable on the seating. Really, please have a clear out. I went through 3 before giving up. Anyway, my friend and I dropped in for the afternoon tea deal, since she was doing sober October and Prosecco Tea was out the question. So to make up we decided to treat ourselves to the Deluxe tea. Now, I'll admit, I misread the online menu and was really excited that our tower of treats and unlimited tea was only £7.50 each, but turns out that was price per person. It was a lovely spread (with the exception of some soylent green thing that made it's way on to the cake stand! Eugh!) with freshly made, well filled sandwiches, on mixed breads, and with not a bit of cucumber or tuna in sight. JACKPOT! They do ask about dietary requirements for anyone worried or fussy. There's a wide selection of teas, from fruity, to milky, to spicey, and it's all you can drink on the deluxe menu. This place has swiftly become our regular Sunday lunchtime haunt. It may be hidden but boy is it popular. Why? Because its such a fab wee place! This cutesy, vintage tearoom is the perfect place for a wee pick me up. A great selection of teas served generously in quaint little tea sets, great coffee and scrummy home bakes. The Hidden Lane Café and Gallery is the metaphorical calm of the storm that regularly rages over Argyle Street. It is tucked behind the Tescos and is so quaint and quiet inside it feels as if you could be anywhere. This cosy little café serves up some top grub as well as being a lovely place to enjoy a little quiet time. I find the décor fascinating but it really has to be experienced for ones self, it is quirky artistic and another great little unknown retreat. A similar atmosphere to Chai Ovna but with a slightly more artistic feel to it and a much smaller selection of tea. I was really pleased when I heard about the Hidden Lane Café and even more pleased when I checked it out, a good contribution to the student/art/cultural map of Glasgow read more

This is a lovely cosy tearoom and if you're into "shabby chic" or vintage style you'll be happy here. There are tea sets everywhere and your tea will always arrive in a big china pot. I think the cakes are good but some could be better hence the four star review. The tea is very good and there's a good selection of sandwiches too.The staff are usually quite friednly but don't always know what cakes are on offer that day so it's a good idea to check them out on your way in. Oh and don't miss the wallpaper in the bathroom, it's the best I've ever seen! read more

Hidden it is but what a find. Such a cute little spot and on a dry day it's so nice to sit outside and enjoy a pot of tea. I ordered the cheese and meat board which I would highly recommend, absolutely delicious and filling. Very friendly staff and very cute inside. It is pretty tiny so be sure not to be too clumsy! Well!.... I just died and went to heaven.... I just tasted the most divine brownie ever! It was moist, fudgy. Uber chocolatey and had Oreos in it swoooooon. It was very clearly home made and really delicious :-) The hidden lane tea room is deceptively larger than expected. It is tucked away in the hidden lane just off Argyle Street. It has a wee balcony inside and another section just off the main room. The atmosphere is lovely, they have great products and pictures produced by local artists and they are available for sale. Its a lovely wee vintage place complete with lovely cups and saucers and cute bunting. The service was good the tea was lovely and the staff were great, will def be popping in again soon it has a lovely vibe and I would very happily sit in here on my own and also have a good old catch up with my chums without feeling like I have to rush out . read more

EH???? Finding this place is like discovering your pet dog is actually a goat who has been masquerading as a dog for the last 15 years......it's a bit of a suprise...that's what i'm getting at. Hidden Lane? Yeah, no shit its hidden. A fantastic little treasure of an area that could do with a little more coffee shops and bars and little less offices and art galleries.....i'm not really a n art lover if truth be told....to much posturing not enough painting. This little cafe is a wonderful wee joint split over two levels with a cozy feel ,laid back staff, great coffee and some nice looking grub. Although not the biggest joint in the world, it still manages to squeeze in a number of seats and tables without feeling at all cramped. I do like this place and given its location just off the sometimes grim looking argyle street, its a little bit of calm and Bohemia to soothe the soul. Where are the rest of the places like this in Glasgow...we need more!!!!!!!!!! read more

Right, so this is a wee hidden gem to say the least. I have lived too close by for nearly two years to never have visited - I have got close though, with a summer festival and chasing zombies down the lane - but that is not an excuse. This place is just lovely! I cannot believed I have not made it in there until now. I suppose it makes sense, because it's not like you can just walk past it on the street and think 'hey, lets pop in here'. Maybe I was too worried before that it would be one of those uber-arty west-end places that I would not fit in. Either way, it will go on my list of those places where to go on nice-floaty-days-of-nothingness, when I can just stroll in and have a pot of tea with a nice cake or some strawberries and cream. Btw, the cake was vegan, and I am far from vegan, but I might turn one if that is the kinda goodies they get!!! :) Only thing I will say is it can get quite toasty up on the loft bit if it's a warm day - but this being Scotland, that is not the biggest minus ever! I'd been hearing about the Hidden Lane Tearoom for ages and it sounded like something my littlest sister would love. Mismatched china tea cups and saucers, home baking, bunting and cake stands. She was sold and despite it teetering close to over the top twee so was I. Coming down the cobbled lane off Argyle Street feels like a mini adventure and the wee tea room at the end of the lane really epitomises 'hidden gem'. We received a warm welcome and the four of us (my two sisters, my mum and me) got a table tucked away in the back - clever of them as we are not known for keeping the volume down. We ordered the £15 afternoon teas - unlimited tea and coffee sounded like it was well worth paying the £3 extra for and it was. The drinks arrived quickly and the cake stands without a noticeable delay, which might just be a polite way of saying that we were way too busy gossiping and cackling to pay any attention to where our food was. The cake stands contained a good and generous selection of sandwiches and cakes which were all really really tasty. Generously filled sandwiches, light and fluffy sponges, gooey chocolaty brownies and scones slathered in cream and jam. Afternoon perfection. There was a lot of food to get through and experience has made us wise to the art of pacing ourselves so we stayed 3 hours, had 3 drinks each and were made to feel welcome and well looked after for the duration.
