So this place is literally in the middle of NOWHERE! It's 20 miles outside of Big Timber, MT along route 191. There's nothing on either side of it and nothing across the street as far as the eye can see... yet there it is! And it was very nice for breakfast: comfortable, pleasant indoor and outdoor seating; prompt, friendly, low-key service. The brunch menu is not giant but it's definitely adequate: I had the scramble skillet and it was a v nice plate of delicious food. Everyone else was happy with their food as well. Good coffee. And as we sat there, people started showing up from all over in their cherry classic cars and RVs. And, just to complete the jaw-dropping experience, later the same week, Clint Black was going to perform there!! What??! Anyway, if you find urself in Big Timber, this little place is well worth the drive. read more

The Big Sky Country is blessed with several out of the way cafes. cafe 191 is a newcomer, at Melville about Half way between Big Timber and Harlowton, and it is a jewel, serving mostly the surrounding ranch families and travelers like me. The place is comfortable, laid back but professional, and spotless. I wasn't there for breakfast but staff served a very good vanilla latte. Then I had the burger from locally raised beef. Just outstanding quality. Hand cut thick fries were also solid. It is neat to see the locals stop by--clearly everyone appreciates the place. They bake their own desserts too. Attentive, efficient staff. No one is loafing. Just us visitors! Well worth the drive into the middle of nowhere. Can't wait to drop in for breakfast. read more
