This has been a favourite restaurant of mind for years now. I haven't written a review until now largely because I don't want it to become more popular than it already is so I can continue to eat there whenever I want. Outstanding service from Vince and the family at Amore this evening. Easily the best Italian food in Edmonton supporting individual and family style dining. Although some reviews cite the prices as being high, the portions are huge. You'll definitely get two, maybe even three meals out of one pasta. Our server was Vince and I must say - I have not had that much fun nor this level of service in well over 10 years. Vince's banter, appreciation, and insane passion toward food and Bistro Amore alike are astounding. Spending 18 years in hospitality myself, Vince and the family at Amore offer an experience that is extremely rare. I will definitely be adding Amore to the top of my favourite restaurant list. I will not rush back. I ordered my chicken Marsala pasta dish half spicy and it was so spicy I could not eat it. The heat overpowered any flavor in the sauce. The chicken pieces were dry and tough. Luckily the portion sizes were so large that everyone else at the table was able to share their food with me so I did not go hungry. I mentioned it to the waitress and they deducted $5.00 off my $27.00 dish. I believe it should be suggested by the waiters to order family style sharing dishes rather than ordering individual. The plates are just far too large for individual portions and all sides need to be ordered separately. On the positive side, the management are very welcoming and friendly and shake your hand as you enter and as you leave. read more

What a great place!!!! From the service to the food, all 5 stars. The place had an old woodsy feel and very cozy and the place was packed at 5:30pm a Friday night. We ordered 5 dishes; lobster mac n cheese, Vongole with white wine sauce, Pacific, truffle and diced tomatoes and the special gnocchi. All amazing and was made to perfection! Cannot say enough how I love the food here! We ordered the tiramisu and chocolate cake, can't go wrong with any of the desserts! Went there couple weeks ago. I really likes their bread with sausage and maple sauce. Not sure whether it's italian coz my boyfriend comes from italy and he's never seen something like that. I guess it is a good creation by the restaurant, really impressive by the flavor. The Lobster pasta I think it was so and so. We eat pasta all the time and we prefer something less creamy. It was a bit heavy for us. The tiramisu was nice. Overall it was a good dinner, a bit expensive though. Just 3 things we ordered, we spent nearly $60. read more

My favorite Italian restaurant in the city. The staff makes you feel so welcomed. I'm never ignored when I walk in. I'm very happy this is a family owned business because they treat you like family and check on you and make sure that you get absolutely the best service. I always have a friendly server and they always give me recommendations when I am unsure of what I want on the menu. They always make sure my glasses of drinks are filled and that's a plus for me because I hate having to eye down someone to have something topped off. The owner always comes to say hi and asks if we're enjoying our meal and if we need anything else and I appreciate that. Starter went well minus the wine (for an Italian restaurant, needs some more knowledge on wine) the main course at first glance looks amazing, the portion size makes you feel like your getting your moneys worth. Went to Cafe Amore for a work lunch, and had mixed results. The service was excellent - attentive and fairly knowledgeable, and the food came out quickly. As I said, this was a business lunch, so that was appreciated. However, our group had mixed results on the food, which is why I'm only giving it three stars. My sandwich was excellent, but a colleague was very disappointed with his (dry and bland). The pasta seemed to be a bit of a hit or miss with the rest of the group - again, some dishes were bland, some were swimming in sauce, and some just had a sprinkling of toppings. Overall, a good choice for lunch - would be better if there was some consistency coming from the kitchen. read more

I dined here with friends over christmas holidays! I was worried about finding parking but there is lots of street parking. We were all seated on time, and a great table in the back. Hello soft booth seat, thank you. I ordered the chipotle chicken dish... it was so good! Just the right amount of heat, the right amount of creamyness to fulfill a craving but I ended up splashing it all over the table. Kill me, I'm not italian. The portion was so big I ate it for leftovers the next two days! I really liked the atmosphere, it had a nice family feel to it and hey it looks Italian so I loved it. How cold you not love this place? It's like going to a very popular family members house on a Sunday. Went here on a whim one night when I was craving a huge pile of spaghetti. We showed up without reservations and the place was packed, but the host (owner?) was able to find us a table within minutes. Perusing the menu, it was obvious the pasta of the day was by far the best value. I had my heart set on bolognese, though, which was a different day's special, meaning it was $15 rather than $10. That was still reasonable for the portion I was served. The garlic bread was delicious, as was the bruschetta we had for starters. The service seemed a little off that night, and we weren't visited very often. We were there with our 10-month-old baby so we really couldn't linger any longer at the end of our meal and had to just go to the front and pay instead of waiting for our waitress to come by again. She was very friendly, just seemed a little overwhelmed. The food was just what I was wanting though. Would definitely go back - and will make a reservation next time. read more

Nothing special about this restaurant. I have been here twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch. I really don't remember much about the supper visit so definitely not a memorable experience. My most recent visit was a working lunch and I swear that we had Jekyll and Hyde for a the waitress. She looked stone faced when we didn't order drinks other than water and when we asked for our meals in a particular way such as mushrooms on the side. Then she'd come back and be all smiley and friendly, go away and come back once again very cold. We ordered two pasta dishes, gnocchi and the Mac n cheese. The Mac and cheese was pretty good but don't order the gnocchi. It was no different than getting a frozen pack from the grocery store and adding a jar of Classico pasta sauce. The prices are too high for the lack of quality. $24-$26 per dish. The "garlic bread" is an additional $5 and tasted like it was burned. A disappointing restaurant with mediocre service and just average to below average food. Save your money as there are better Italian restaurants out there. read more

They're finding their feet again after reopening following a flood caused by the city. So it goes. The food is still good and the service is still friendly, it just may take a little longer to seat you, take your order and get your food out to you. This place was very disappointing... It started from the moment we walked in.. Arrogant front of house lady.....she was early fifties and judging by her accent I gather she was Eastern European.. Anyways we were seated in what seemed like a legit nice restaurant.. Decent decor(kinda cliche Italian bistro).. For drinks my dinner companion had a latte and I had a club soda w cran ... I ordered the Pacific pasta dish and my partner ordered pesto linguine with chicken.. Well.. The coffee was warm at best and not well made and my simple club soda and cram was flat.. Anyways the food arrived and I was starving... My first bite indicated the tell tale signs of not so fresh seafood.. It was extremely fishy tasting and over salted.. My friends pasta was beyond al dente (rubbery).. The server(still the middle aged euro chick) never returned once to ask how anything was.. I ate the dish as I was starving..and the terrible server never inquired on the satisfaction of the meal.. She finally came to collect my dish.. I mentioned the drink were terrible and the food was average at best.. She quickly gave snarky remark..."it's a family recipe".. Long story short.. SAVE YOUR MONEY DON'T EAT HERE.. Go to Sicilian Pasta Kitchen and get a good meal. The only reason you get one star is because I have to!! read more

The food is great, the atmosphere is friendly. I'm not particular impressed with the service that a waiter (Raul) provided. I ordered the seafood pasta and asked if it's possible that the chef can exclude baby clams. The waiter kept on convincing me numerous times to try baby clams even when I told him I can't eat baby clams! after paying, he was so rude that he told me why I'm only paying 8 cents on tips! that's so rude that he even said that. As a matter of fact, the tipping was $8.80 (20 per cent), he just need a new pair of glasses to see the correct amount of tips. Went here for my birthday because we always enjoy the food and was disappointed with the service we received. After ordering drinks and food, our appetizers arrived before my drink came to our table which was okay but a little bit of weird timing. After we had finished our appetizers our waitress told us "a couple of minutes" until our pasta dishes would be ready...30 minutes later our dishes finally arrived. They were delicious as expected however our waitress only came to check on us once and we had to flag down another waiter to package our leftovers after waiting and waiting for our waitress to come back. Overall, we enjoy the food even if it is a little pricy, but we were very disappointed in the lack of service and how unfriendly our waitress was!
