I had my to-do list of items I wanted to request and let me say my craft beer wishes were granted. I had sours..triples and lots of varieties that I wouldn't be able to sample in the US! The vibe was engaging and friendly! The bartenders were helpful and offered good suggestions. It was a good time from beginning to the last call! If you are a craft beer lover like me..do yourself a favor and stop by for a drink or two..you'll be happy you did!

Unwelcoming and Discriminatory Experience…read more I recently visited Susie Sallon in Amsterdam and felt deeply uncomfortable and unsafe due to the discriminatory behavior I encountered. From the moment I walked in, I was treated as though I did not belong. A staff member with blonde, oxygenated hair, though she was a Viking for having that hair? who seemed to be in charge, made it very clear through her actions and attitude that foreigners, flashing racist signs. As someone who has traveled extensively, I've never experienced such blatant exclusion and prejudice. The environment gave off a hostile, white supremacist vibe, making it impossible to enjoy or feel safe. I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values respect and equality. Be aware before visiting, especially if you are a person of color or a foreigner. I have reported this incident to the authorities and strongly urge others to avoid this establishment.

The place was pretty empty so the bartender told us to make a playlist and played our song choices for us. He was so awesome and nice to us (Thanks Jarne!) Then the owner arrived and brought out snacks (cheese even) for us. At this point, we decided to stay longer because the service was so great. Then they gave us souvenirs (infusion water bottles and a mug with the name of the bar). Imagine being drunk and getting unexpected gifts? It's awesome! The place eventually filled up and live music began. Either way, it was time for us to move on. However, as I sip from my Café Pollux water bottle, I will always fondly remember my evening here! Carlota who answered the doorbell, was able to accommodate us at the bar (our preferred seating anyway). She took our coats, placed them in the coat closet up front and led us inside. Once seated, we were given gorgeous ruby red complimentary aperitif (hibiscus, honey, ginger). The drink menu is interesting, based on the concept of growing up, with more basic tastes to start and more mature complex tastes later on in life. (The drinks are more complex the later in the menu). I ordered the Awake at Last, and my husband ordered the Ruby Stone. Mine was sweet and coffee flavored and his was more tart and sour cherry flavored. When I tried his drink, I immediately felt nostalgic because it reminded me of umeboshi (pickled plum in Japanese food), so we ended up trading drinks. Both were great for supping. Sitting at the bar was fun, watching the bartender at his work. He was silent, focused, skilled, professional. So glad we checked it out!
