Cafe Italiano is a forgotten gem of a place to eat. Partly because of the off main street location and the dark store front that is partially blocked by cars from the dance studio above. Once you set inside though, you will find this quiet family run restaurant a special treat. My preference is for the Calzones and Pizzas. You can't go wrong with the Mediterranean Pizza but I changed things up last time and got a "make your own pizza" with Candian Ham, mushrooms and onions. Loved it. Hubby the special Fajita Calzone and we both loved it. They are only open 11-5 during the week and 1-5 on Saturdays but it's worth the trip. read more

This place is just amazing. The owner is so friendly and helpful in his suggestions on the specials. I was sold on the seafood special over spaghetti. I could not stop eating the meal. If you want fresh and wonderful meals and even pizzas, this should be your go to spot with friends and family. All will be surprised and enjoy the food. We stumbled upon this hole in the wall restaurant while looking for something different. First of all - the owners were super friendly and provided that home town feel. The pizza was totally awesome! The bread was light and airy. The toppings were fresh and full of flavor. It's been a long time since I tasted a pizza quite this good and we have a very good pizza place in town! As Italian and Greco-Italian string music strums in the evening air... I'm reminded of my love for Italian food and that this is my second time here. I admit I enjoy this place. They have the Best Pizza in the region. Seriously the best pizza. I made a suggestion that they push and sell the pizza more and also add a margherita pizza to their line up. It's that good. I had the Spaghetti with Meatballs and it is very Good! When I order a simple dish like this I'm not worried if it's as good as my Mama's I'm wondering how they could screw up such a simple dish? They did not screw up the spaghetti and I'm glad. I like this place because it's family owned and run. They are so friendly they treat you like family. I spend more time visiting and drinking Chianti. He's got a huge wine list and he's proud to show you his wine list. Make sure you have a designated driver because the wine is that Good. Ate there recently with two friends. One friend ordered tomato soup which was clearly not soup, but marinara sauce. She ended up eating only two bites of the soup and only part of a lousy salad. My other friend ordered a Mediterranean calzone. It was huge but very little ingredients inside. She also was disappointed. I ordered the Roman calzone. It was tasty but again very light on ingredients and not worth the extremely high price charged. The place smelled old and stale. Unless you are desperate, save your money. I ordered takeout tonight and it was very tasty. We got the gyro sandwiches. They had a mix of lamb and beef with tzaziki sauce. The pita bread was just delicious as was the filling. It came with a yummy small salad. Very enjoyable. We tried to order spanakopita. They did not have phyllo dough. So the chef offered to make up something similar. He made a calzone type dough, rolled thin with the same filling. It was really good too. Way too big so we will have leftovers. I highly recommend Cafe Italiano. Super nice service too, helped me carry my items to the car. It was slick out with fresh snow. read more

Our first visit to this restaurant since moving to the area 10 months ago. The outside did not draw us but very comfortable & nice inside. We had lunch & it was very good. Our main meals were decent, definitely the best Italian in town (out of two), although the price point is higher than it warrants. However, the tiramisu we ordered was terrible. The "chef" proceeded to come out and yell at us about how his "Greek Tiramisu" is the best tiramisu we have ever had and how it would take us 10 years to learn the recipe, but really, it was just a soaked spice cake with raspberry preserves and aerosol whipped cream on it, no marscapone to be found. Skip it if you are well traveled and can spot below par food. Visited 6/2/18 the food and atmosphere was completely substandard. On the positive side the kids mac was made fresh -not frozen. However, it was altogether bland. Also, the waitress was very prompt and kind. On to the negatives... I had pasta and vegetables. It was also quite bland. The vegetables were from a frozen veggie pack. When I bit into the veggies they had zero flavor and were full of water which is indicative of frozen vegetables. My dish was watery and greasy. The white sauce quickly sunk down to the bottom. The boat it was served in was old and discolored from so much use. The tomato basil soup was dreadful. I am pretty certain it was a cup of watery marinara sauce with a sprinkle of basil in the center. The table bread also had little flavor and was utterly dried out. Even the Maraschino cherries in our drinks were dried out, lacking flavor characteristic of outdated product. Finally, the decor was hodgepodge and lighting grim. It's so ghastly one could easily mistaken it for a yard sale. Chef Gordon Ramsay would have a field day here! read more
