OK so I'm going to start by saying I'm from Ohio. But where I live a Kolache is a very different item. The Kolache by me is A fruit or cheese filled fold over cookie. These Kolache are more like a filled sweet bread roll and the fillings very From fruit to meat and cheese. Thus my initial reaction was disappointment. I had contacted my family in OH to ask if they wanted me to stop and pick up some Kolache.. the overwhelming response was yes please. I even had instruction on how many to purchase. When I walked into Café kolache I looked around in disappointment for the cookies I was anticipating. The clerk behind the counter explained that everything in and on top of the counter is made with Their Kolache dough. this included pans of the queer fruit though and a number of savory selections which were in more of a pigs in the blanket style of encasing the filling. The staff was wonderful here and provided me with an education on their offerings. I even ordered a tote of iced tea which they gladly accommodated me by making up a batch then chilled in their freezer until I could pick it up. I ended up purchasing only 3 actual Kolache to transport home my daughter enjoyed the sausage/jalapeño roll I bought her but the other 2 went basically untouched the roll version was not a hit with my family. But I can appreciate the delicacy of a filled sweet roll. I suppose it's what you are used to but I'll be back as I hope to utilize their services for an upcoming breakfast meeting I'm doing, and I anticipate they will do a fabulous job. Oh and BTW.. they make one heck of a chocolate chip cookie. read more

Amaoand unique breakfast!!! All the Kolaches are great but the jalapeño, egg and sausage is my go to savory... can't be beat. If sweet is your thing, the coconut cream Kolache is bomb but they don't always have it... but you can't go wrong with the fresh cinnamon roll!!! Great coffee drinks too! read more

WOW! What a great little place!!! I stopped here on a whim and it was like I stepped back in time to small town USA. In a quaint downtown, a US flag on every lamp post, people walking the street, kids having fun and laughing with their family. I thought I was in Mayberry on the Andy Griffith Show. Oh ya, and there were Kolache's too. These little delights are a bit different than you find in Texas. They are a little lighter and more like a roll, but just as delicious. I tried 2 - egg/bacon & egg/sausage/jalapeno. Both were delicious. They also had plenty of sweet options, really good coffee, seating inside or out and the staff... they couldn't have been more pleasant and seemed happy to be there. This WILL be a regular stop for me when I travel to the area. read more

Whenever hubby & I visit a new area I seek out local, unique dining options and Cafe Kolache checked all the boxes. We arrived a little after 1 and hubby grabbed a table out front while I went inside to order. I got 1 ham & Swiss, 1 chicken fajita with jalapeno, a cup of sausage bacon minestrone, a Bavarian cream for dessert, a triple berry spritzer and an iced tea. Everything was absolutely delicious - the soup was filled with sausage, veggies & noodles, rich and filling, I wish I had gotten a quart to go. In both of the lunch kolaches hubby and I loved how the meat was cut into bite sized pieces and each of them were amazing, so flavorful and the sweetness of the kolache perfectly complimented the savory goodness inside. The Bavarian cream kolache had a cherry on top and was the perfect size dessert. I really enjoyed the triple berry spritzer but that iced tea was the bomb, not sure what type of tea they use but it was refreshing. The staff here are all so nice and follow all covid guidelines. A cafe in the heart of Beaver, so delicious you won't want to pass this place up. I stopped in real quick to get a Kalache to go. Upon entering the scents were so overwhelmingly delicious. They offer a vast menu with coffees, assorted teas, snacks, many different Kolaches and much more. You can sit there and eat or take out, I also noticed a small room in the back that you could probably use for a private group/meeting room. I never had a Kolache before, it was hard to decide to choose whether I would select a savory (like ham and cheese) or a sweet (like fruit filled) Kolache. I selected the cream cheese/sweet one. It was really delicious, it reminded me of a Danish, but not really a flaky pastry used, it was similar to a sweet bread. I didn't eat the Kolache until later after I returned home and immediately regretted not getting more. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other flavors. read more

I recently moved to the area and went here for the first time this morning for a business meeting. It did not disappoint. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese kolache, which was delicious. The bread was perfect and I've never had anything like it, nor have I heard of it before. The man behind the counter was very helpful and friendly after I told him it was my first time. He described everything. I also got an iced chai tea latte. It was one of the best that I've ever had. I love lattes that have a spicy flavor to that and this one did. Our friends took us to Cafe Kolache during our visit to Beaver. It's an adorable cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. I've never had a kolache- it's a type of pastry, and I was eager to try one. I ordered the ham and swiss kolache and split a cinnamon twist and bruschetta with my husband. I also ordered a frozen vanilla latte as my beverage. The kolaches were warmed upon order which I highly recommend. The kolaches were delicious! The pastry was light and flavorful. I especially loved the cinnamon twist. It was light and sweet but not too sweet. Service was very good through our visit. Everyone was friendly and it definitely had a neighborhood feel. read more

I don't know why I didn't review Cafe Kolache sooner! This place is so good! It's a cute little place in downtown beaver with some of the best pastries I've ever had! My favorites are the cream cheese and the apple kolaches and the chocolate biscotti. They also have really good coffee, and milk and juice for the kids. I haven't tried the breakfast kolache yet but I've seen them and they look amazing, that's definitely next on my list! read more

Wonderful and great tasting coffee and tea! Frankly it's vastly superior what one is offered by Starbucks up the street or anywhere. The atmosphere is friendly and spacious with room to spread out. Numerous convenient electrical outlets for one to plug in and charge one's phone. The staff is very friendly: and the pastries delicious. Savory entrees are freshly prepared and baked for lunch. Contrast this to the cellophane wrapped food at Starbucks which is rumored to be frozen: and or trucked in from across the country. I believe in supporting and patronizing retail establishments that are truly locally owned by real owners and families. Much better in my experience than franchises with cookie cutter uniform offerings and looks! This cafe is most highly recommended! read more

I lived in beaver for a year and only visited Cafe Kolache twice, a critical error on my part. Anything edible here should be done so in short order. They take things that could easily be bland and gummy and transform them into an extraordinary flavor experience. Something as simple as an egg, potato and cheese kolache is perfectly seasoned and cooked. The sweet pastries are always delicious as well, particularly the cream cheese kolache. Great stuff. They also offer a variety of coffees, from light roasts to dark, as well as all the drinks you might expect in such a place. Also, they played the entirety of an Al Green album while I was there, which always a positive. That's not to say that the place isn't without its issues. The service is fine, but I always get the impression that I'm annoying them just by being there. Also, the giant bucket clearly labeled "Blueberry Filling" in the dining room kind of broke the spell. Come for the Kolaches, stay for the free wi-fi, the Al Green and the additional kolaches that you'll buy. read more

This place has been around for years, but I had never tried it. And probably won't stop by again. This place takes up a few storefronts in Beaver, but I just never had the urge to try it. When I finally did, I was enormously disappointed. There were a bunch of folks sitting inside the country/barn style café drinking coffee and snacking on sweet treats, but what drew me in were the savory Kolaches promised by the website. Not a coffee fan, nor a sweets fan, I went for a few of their savory options. There were a bunch of options clearly offered on trays, which I assumed were half-cooked and ready for the Oven. I was badly mistaken. I ordered a ham and Swiss and a special sausage daily option. They honesty looked delectable. At the checkout, the cashier asked if I wanted my Kolaches heated. I was confused, but said "yes." She then bent down and tossed them, bag and all, into a microwave below the register. The result was a soggy, greasy blob of batter and meat. I tried a bite or two of each, but ended up tossing them out. Too greasy and gloppy to feed to my dogs. The coffee must be awesome, and the cookies must be great. But don't use Kolache in your name if you are unable to deliver. read more

This is a very warm, inviting cafe with tables to sit down and enjoy an authentic Czech kolache. As a native of Texas, I was so delighted to discover this adorable eatery with a delicious taste of home. The owner is delightful and very welcoming. The fresh homemade kolaches, cookies and cinnamon rolls were so worth the drive up from Pittsburgh. They off Coke products, a wide variety of loose leaf teas and pour over or French press coffee. The servers were very friendly and helpful. We are already talking about our next visit to Cafe Kolache. read more

My coffee tasted fresh brewed, the staff really seemed to enjoy working here, and they have free Wi-Fi. Do your local little people a favor and walk a block down, get your coffee here. read more

Why oh why did we put off coming to Cafe Kolache for so long? This Saturday afternoon, for the first time ever, I officially munched on the Czech delicacy known as Kolache. A kolache is simply a roll filled with whatever your heart desires. Most of us have had something similar. For instance, who hasn't had a pepperoni roll? But have you had it in such a gentle roll made of such a gently sweetened yeast dough before? The kolache is so soft, you feel as if you're holding a living creature, fearing that it will cry out in agony when you chow down on it. I ordered mine filled with Buffalo Chicken (they were running low on everything being that we came by in mid-afternoon during one of Beaver's frequent street fairs) and would have been way more than content to have anything else. That was until I saw that there be chili on that there chalkboard menu! This was done Texas-style, meaning that there were no beans, which is how I prefer it, and was served in a colossal mug. Topped with shredded cheddar and minced green chiles, it was just the right balance between sweet and spicy, neither overpowering the other while asteroids of a most luscious ground beef floated about the broth. I never thought some of the very best chili ever conceived would be prepared at a Czechoslovakian eatery. I didn't try any of the dessert kolaches due to being wooed away by their UFO-sized chocolate chunk cookies which tasted ALMOST as good as they looked in the glass jar they were pulled from. Cafe Kolache is trendy, ethnic, fun, fast, and egregiously affordable. My cup of chili and kolache were each under $5. Breakfast, traditional, and dessert kolaches are generally between $1.29 and $1.54. Lunch kolaches are between $4.65 and $4.79. The "meal" kolaches are big enough to fill a grown man, so you will eat well and cheaply here. CK is yet another jewel of Beaver's vibrant Third Street business district. P.S. Café Kolache: Putting a Unique Spin on a Czech Tradition If you've ever visited Burleson County, Texas you've probably eaten a Kolache. For those of you who are scratching your heads, Kolache are a favorite dessert for those of Czech heritage. It's basically a slightly sweetened dough with a tasty dollop of filling (poppyseed, cheese, or fruit is traditional) that nests in the center. Texas is home to many with Czech roots due to immigration during the 1800s. If you can't visit Texas any time soon, or Czechoslovakia for that matter, then it's time to set your GPS for... Beaver, PA? That's correct! Thanks to Kristi Harper, once a resident of Austin, Texas, we only need to take a leisure drive to enjoy sweet and savory treats at Café Kolache. We arrived to downtown Beaver on a sunny, summer afternoon and were tickled to see such a charming strip of shops and eateries! While there were several distractions on the way (antiques, jewelry, and shoes oh, my!), we were starving and decided to fill our bellies with Kolache first. It was of the luncheon hour and Café Kolache was brimming with patrons. While anxiously awaiting our turn to order at the counter, we were able to see the offerings of the day in the glass case. At first, my eyes were drawn to the traditional sweet-filled Kolache. There were blueberry and cheese still left for the taking. Next to those were the biggest, most scrumptious-looking cinnamon rolls. The gentleman at the counter informed me that the cinnamon rolls were made out of Kolache dough as well. I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't know what a kolach was before I came here, but I'm certainly a believer now. And to enlighten anyone who may be like me, it's an Czech/Slovak pastry, often filled with a dollop of fruit. An Americanized version has a pocket filled with savory meats or cheeses. Cafe Kolache offers both varieties. The air is thick with the scent of spices and bread each time I've visited this place, and an entire shelf is dedicated to sweet and savory kolache that entice customers at the register. The ham and swiss kolach has made for the perfect grab-and-go lunch for me on a few occasions, with sweet bread enveloping ham (real diced ham, not deli meat) and cheese. They will also heat it up for you if you like. It's kind of like the best homemade hot pocket ever. I've particularly enjoyed the day-old kolache that are marked half off, so I can still get my fill of delicious goodies at bargain prices. Can't really beat a $2 lunch with two mini kolache. Not to mention the coffee is the best in Beaver as well! (That's saying something considering a Starbucks is just a few blocks away.) The coffee is fresh and has a jolt without tasting burnt and over roasted like some chain competitors.
