Cafe Ole has a long history in Tulsa in Brookside. Their blue corn tortilla stacked enchiladas are what they are known for. You can start there and work your way to the salads which are also great. We sat by the fireplace in the enclosed patio area. I would say the downside is that there is not a lot of dining space, but it's Brookside. We ate lunch at noon and easily got a table. read more

We hadn't been to Cafe Ole in a long time and because our daughter and her boyfriend are moving into the area we decided to celebrate our anniversary there. We were not disappointed! I had the Chile Relleno and my husband had a beef dish which was enough for two meals. We both had to admit our dishes were delicious! The food is better than we remembered. The fresh chips and salsa were out of this world and there was something very special about the sauces on our items. We loved sitting out on the patio which had plenty of fans to keep us cool. If someone can prove me wrong, please tell me. Yet, for now, this place gets my number one spot. The server was efficient with order taking and getting us our drinks and refills. The staff was nice but there was little ambiance or character to the inside it might be different on the patio. The food was okay other than the charro beans with chorizo nothing stuck out as an item to go back for. I had the carne asada and got an arm workout cutting the meat as it was fatty and a little tough. My friend got the fish tacos and said they were okay but also nothing stood out for her. I love the patio. Today, as we approached the restaurant, I commented to Dan that it looked like a party. When we walked in, friends greeted us. It was a party. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere. This is my favorite part of this restaurant. It's fun. I was disappointed that they no longer have a lunch menu. We both got Cuban sandwiches which was small enough for us. It's slightly different from most Cubans. It didn't have ham and pickle but did have guacamole and caramelized onions. It was flavorful and moist. The slaw is tasty and crisp. Parking on Brookside can be a problem, but they have a private parking lot with a parking guard. Even though they don't have lunch specials, they have Tin Pan Tuesday. On Tuesdays from 4 to close, Tecate is $2.50 and they offer a variety of tasty treats such as tamales, street tacos, etc for $2.50 each. To help keep the patio atmosphere pleasant, they have small windmills on tables to keep flies away. If you live in Tulsa and haven't been to Cafe Ole, you need to try it. read more

Ohhhh...I'm so full. They have 2 different kinds of queso so yes, we did it. We ordered a small of each. One is made with cream cheese and the other is 'regular' queso. Both are taaasty. There are several gluten free options on the menu. I ordered the chicken verde enchiladas and the verde sauce had so much flavor. My husband ordered the stacked enchiladas and enjoyed them. Cafe Ole has been a favorite of ours for 20 years. but new ownership is ruining the experience. All our favorites are gone from the new menu and the margaritas are made from a mix not fresh ingredients as has been their tradition. We had a large party of 10 and the service was decent, but it took a while to get our food. I suppose you have to be more patient with such a large party. First time back in a year. Same owner that has Te Amos and the MK Bistro (which used to be Ol' Vine). Since we love MK Bistro food and service, we decided to check out Cafe Ole. The last time we were here, the service and food were on a decline. We knew the Happy Hour is 2-6pm so we dropped in shortly after two. Immediately greeted and shown to a table on the patio. There were 3 other couples there and it never got more crowded until we left at 3:15. Grace brought us waters and confirmed the Happy Hour menu consists of 1/2 price small plates. We each ordered a Top Shelf Margarita ($12.50), small guacamole ($2), Queso Ole ($6) and had the complimentary chips and salsa which are very good. She ordered the Ceviche Tostada Stack ($7) and I got the Quesabirria Tacos (3 for $7) which come with a cup of consume. We got the perfect amount of food and a very good price. I think next time I would get the regular Queso. It was very pleasant on the patio (atmosphere and music) Our waters were filled regularly and we were checked on periodically. Tab came to $54.38. I got the Spinach Enchiladas with double rice instead of beans, my daughter got the Olé Quesadilla, and my boyfriend got the Chicken Verde Enchiladas with rice and black beans. We were seated immediately and the service was good. The complimentary chips were a little thicker and heavily salted which I thought took away from the salsa that came with them. My Spinach Enchiladas were ok. The spinach was the issue it was really dry and bland. Almost tasted like it came from a can. Other than that everything else was really good. My boyfriend and daughter thoroughly enjoyed their entrees. Sitting out on the patio was ok when the wind was blowing. Without the wind, even with the overhead fans, we had flies bothering us and it was a little warm. The wait staff was on top of everything though and kept up with refilling our waters and checking on us. Our server was Matt and he did a really good job making us feel very well looked after. Cafe Ole offers the best Southwestern / Mexican / New Mexican food in Oklahoma, and luckily for us it is right here in Tulsa! I have enjoyed the food and service at Cafe Ole for 20 years, and their menu only gets better over time. Yesterday I had the "queso rellenos" which are chile rellenos stuffed with cheese and served with a chile colorado red sauce. Piping hot and excellent flavor combinations, I could not have been happier. I have eaten many chile rellenos, with the best being in Santa Fe, NM, but outside of that city, this is the best I have ever had. The sides that come with it are equally if not more delicious... savory black beans and delectable, perfectly cooked rice, and a small jalapeno cornbread muffin which was an excellent compliment to all of the savory flavors. Peach tea is delicious! (I'm not a margarita person so I go against the grain.) Chips and salsa are quite good here, though yesterday the salsa was not spicy enough for my taste. That's okay though, it was fresh and enjoyable, and with a main meal that is such a winner, I can handle one small glitch in the meal. Excellent margaritas. They're strong and flavorful! They have a cute little patio that's covered but it seems to be always full. They do offer a couple tables directly out front but it can get hot if you're out there trying to enjoy yourself... Service is prompt and courteous even if you're ordering just drinks and not food the wait staff doesn't seem to be annoyed by that. Even though I didn't order food I did glace at their menu and they had some amazing quick $6,7 and 8 entrees which is super duper affordable! It was strong enough, especially with it being topped off with a shot of Grand Marnier. Also, got a Sangria. It was pretty good as well. It goes with the food they serve. Cafe Ole is a little Tex Mex place in the revitalized areas near Peoria and Utica. It is a modern, yet not pretentious. Service was friendly. Street tacos were really delicious, along with their fresh salsa. What I really appreciate about this place is that have a spicier version of salsa that is actually hot, versus other places that don't deliver as advertised.
