I've been wanting to try Cafe Reyes for a while and am glad I finally did today! Rich perfect cold brew. The bocadito chorizo was wild. Delicious sausage, gooey cheese, and the most incredible bread. Staff were efficient and friendly during a busy brunch hour. The decor is bright and cheerful and everything was immaculate. Can't wait to try more for lunch some time. Everything sounds wild. This is an interesting concept ... A halfway house training restaurant for Latin American men in a substance abuse/drug treatment program. I like it because you can do some good while eating tasty Cuban food. Nobody would ever mistake grungy Shrewsbury Street for Little Havana but once you step inside Cafe Reyes, you feel like you walked into Miami for a bit. I went on a quest for the perfect Cuban sandwich while I was in Miami. The Cubano I get at Cafe Reyes is honestly as good as anything I tasted in Miami ... And I hit all the well known spots there. They have authentic Cuban coffee and espresso, which are hard to find. I wish they had decaf espresso but only caffinated espresso is available. The coffee here is good ... I don't know a single place in Worcester where you can get actual espresso like this, though. The prices are ridiculously inexpensive. A sandwich and a coffee is around $10 with tip. The sandwich is pretty big and comes with plantain chips on the side. All the servers are very nice and friendly. That was my biggest question the first time I went here. How would the staff be? Clearly, everyone who works here is happy to be a part of this restaurant. The service can be a bit slow because it is a training restaurant so the staff is learning as they go. I'm sure many of them will go on to own their own restaurant or other good things. Nobody here is going through the motions and you will feel like a valued guest here. Overall, it couldn't be any better, except for the parking situation. You might be able to find street parking if you are okay to parallel park ... Or you can park in Piccadilly Plaza a block away and walk. Plenty of outdoor seating on nice days ... The inside restaurant is cozy and clean, although a bit loud. read more

Very cute restaurant with a great mission and cause. Came here for the first time today and was enchanted by the cute decor and friendly staff! We came here while an event was going on, so the restaurant was pretty full in the dining area (we sat by the bar stools). My friend informed me that usually the staff are all males. On that day, however there were both male and female staff (perhaps for the event, or maybe because they are expanding). Apparently the menu has grown as well, something my friend was VERY excited about.There is a breakfast and lunch menu available, and the coffee is wonderful! And can I just say how much I enjoyed their infused water? It was very zesty, infused with both lemon and lime and a hint of mint. It sits upon the bar counter and patrons are welcome to help themselves. Yum! On to the food.......I got the Tortilla Española, an omelette with potato and my friend got the nutella toast with bacon - don't knock it til you try it! Both were flavorful, savory, and delicious. We must have spent an hour and a half there, catching up, and talking, all while enjoying the atmosphere and the wait staff checked on us periodically and respectfully so (you know some places they come too often, almost making the experience less enjoyable). Had to be on Shrewsbury St for some car work, so I looked for a breakfast spot I could walk to while I waited. I've driven past this place 100s of times, and never batted an eyelash as its pretty non-descript outside. The moment I stepped in, I regretted not coming sooner. The decor is bright & cheerful. It was clean throughout. Lively music, and chatter were heard. Bryan was my server. He was charming and attentive. They were busy, and like most places now, they appeared short staffed so I had to be patient. I was greeted warmly, menu suggestions were made, and I placed my order. While waiting to eat I watched the staff buzz around. There was a feeling of good teamwork amongst the employees. I ordered a Cafe Americano and the Tortilla Vegetale. Coffee was OUTSTANDING. Food was hot and nicely seasoned. Great recommendations! Before i left I ordered Pastele Piña to enjoy later. I heated it in my oven for breakfast the next day and it was delicious! You may ask yourself, WHY 2 STARS? Here's why. We stopped at Cafe Reyes in MA as we were heading to our destination. Being From Puerto Rico I love Spanish food and I always try to get into Spanish restaurants and see what they make different. We stopped here for breakfast and the place is small but beautiful. Color, theme and decor are very charming and it make you feel at home not really a restaurant. We started with a Café con leche and it was delicious! Drinking our coffee we realized that we were short in time and decided to place an order to go, this is when it went bad. I explained to the server that I had 30 minutes and we decided to take the meals to go, we he bagan to explain that meals take 20-25 minutes to be served and that I should probably go if it was that close, I explained again that we had time but just not enough to eat there and he reiterated that we didn't have enough time because it takes 20-25 minutes to serve the food so I respectfully bowed OUT at asked for my check. Now be aware this place does serve to go so this was not a crazy ask and the place wasn't full it was just us and 1 other party of 3. Anyway based on the coffee I'd give it a 5 stars, based on the rude waiter I'd go 1 star. Would've been a good experience if the asshole walking around let me say a freaking word or even better mind his own business. Man behind the counter asked for my order, as I start talking, this other guy comes out of nowhere and starts telling him what to make which is completely wrong. Then proceeds to tell the guy that I want my order to go even tho I started by saying I wanted a cappuccino for here in a mug (before this dude even showed up)I tried to say something . I proceed again to try to order a second coffee and ask if they have almond milk, I get to just saying I want another and the asshole chimes in again messing up the first order. I just took the first one and the wrong pastry and left. Maybe next time let someone order, especially if they're fluent in Spanish and English and don't need you to talk trash about me assuming I'm a gringa . My favourite breakfast place in the Worcester area. New Desayuno Cubano is fabulous and HUGE. Full range of expresso coffees to enjoy in or take out if you're driving by. I can recommend the Cortado. I had a wonderful experience dining with my fiancée here. They have outdoor seating with tables appropriately distanced. The staff are all wearing masks properly and they were all wearing gloves. If you need to get some work done, there's WiFi and a patio area in the back with tables and umbrellas. I got a double espresso shot with a bit of steamed milk (they recommended a bit of sugar too). The concept of this place is amazing. It warms my heart to think these guys who work here are getting another chance to make their lives better. It's as authentic Cuban as one will find in Massachusetts. The server was attentive and very good at his job. We asked a handful of questions about the menu before we ordered. If he didn't know the answer, he was sure to get it from the manager or the chef. We started with an empanada. It was fabulous. It tasted fresh and flavorful. We also had the Cubano Desayuno (without the ham). The sandwich was good and warm. The plantains were FABULOUS! We had a side of seasoned home fries. The food was fantastic. I got the cuban, just to be typical. Bread was amazing, and the overall dish was just something out of this world. The fried plantains with the salt was so good. I had never had cuban food before, so this was something really new to me. Service, couldn't ask for better service. They were packed, we still got a table in 10 minutes and numerous apologies and check-ins while we waited for the food which was taking a little extra long.
