My daughter and I had dinner at Deadhorse Hill last week. She had the chicken peri peri, I the rigatoni. Both meals were unbelievably good. I don't think I've ever had better chicken. The service--provided by Willie--was terrific. He was polite, knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend Deadhorse Hill. read more

Service was great, the food was incredible (shootout to the fried potatoes), and I really like the vibe and interior. Our go-to for the best brunch in Worcester! Shakshuka is amazing, egg scramble is fresh and flavorful, and the table also shared a banana fosters pancake stack last time we visited - would HIGHLY recommend all of those! Coffee and espresso drinks are just as great as the food and service as well! read more

Not going back. As others have said - host was super friendly, server was awful, I definitely won't be back and will no longer recommend. Server seemed annoyed we were there, annoyed we asked one question about the menu. Didn't introduce themselves, just all around unpleasant. We ordered several small plates to start as we wanted see what we liked and order more accordingly, but apparently that's not allowed, we got an annoyed "we only take full orders, I'll come back"... what?? So even though we would have liked to order additional items after trying them and wanting more, we couldn't. It's my meal I'm paying for - why would a restaurant restrict your ability to order food? This is the service you get when there is a guaranteed 20% tip built in, apparently. Food was OK, not as good as previous visits. read more

We recently dined at Deadhorse Hill in Worcester, and our overall experience was nothing short of exceptional! Service was completely on point and the atmosphere was right on the money :-) Tip: The wine list is surprisingly expansive, with a number of bottles I recognized at very reasonable prices. One of my favorite restaurants in Worcester. Great atmosphere and the menu always changes. Food has always been excellent. The wait staff is top notch, and the McDonald's glasses are a nice touch. Great beer selection as well. Just go, you won't be disappointed. read more

Love this place! Since my first visit years ago it has felt as if every staff member knows my name. The food is delicious and I love that the menu changes regularly. The cocktails and wine are just as good. The bartenders are creative and take the time to make personalized cocktails when they have the ability. Yes they charge a 20% fee as a tip that I wish was just baked into the price with a disclosure that tips are not accepted, but it is disclosed and the staff is usually very good at telling people 20% has been included. read more

They add 20% service fee automatically, while barely served our table. The server didn't introduce the menu or dishes. No greeting no hello, no goodbye, Barely speak anything. And we cannot express anything because they charge the tips without our agreement. The server knows she will get that much tips, so she behaves rude. read more

Have been to Deadhorse hill so many times and it is always fantastic! The food follows a farm to table concept, and is always very seasonal and delicious. The drinks were a surprising positive for us, and are always very complex and unique. The only downside really is the price, which I think is a little steep with pasta being about $30. etc. But otherwise definitely always a great meal in Worcester, esp if you are celebrating! read more

Dead horse Hill has a very interesting menu. Initially it seemed quite limited however everything we ordered was exceptional. We ate at the bar and the bartenders were attentive and knew the restaurant menu very well so they could explain the dishes to us. I came here last night to celebrate my very good friend's birthday dinner. It was my first time here, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's in downtown Worcester, and kind of tucked in a little so could be hard to miss if you are walking hastily. I immediately loved the decor when we walked in. It had a very warm, cozy, and intimate vibe. Once we were seated, our waiter came over, and he was very outgoing and friendly, offering us some drink recommendations to start. I had the avalanche, and that was great starter drink. The menu is a bit limited, but they have enough options to appeal to most palettes. My friends and I started with the French fries, and those were very crispy and good. For entrees, I had the burger while two of my friends had the pan roasted chicken, and another friend ordered the duck confit. I had tried duck years ago, and was not a fan, but looking at my friends dish made me curious to try it once more, and I'm glad I did. The duck she ordered was well seasoned, crispy, and delicious. I might have even ordered it myself if I wasn't so weary from my first time trying it. The roasted chicken dish also looked delectable and from the small bit I sampled, I could say I'd recommend. Portions here are large, and we all pretty much got to go trays. We also ended up ordering a special margarita made on the house that we saw someone next to us order. It was a very pretty drink, and it was pretty strong. I know he mentioned it was made with hibiscus I believe. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the food, aesthetic, and the service. Came here expecting top notch service and scene; we both dressed to the nines. As others have said, drinks are served in tacky glasses, the 20% tip is included. I didn't appreciate the waiter kneeling down and chatting with us. The food was so-so, and I stayed in my Google review, the scene is NOT lively. If you want to dress nice, have amazing food and great ambience, you're better off heading to a different city. My boyfriend said he liked it, but for the $500 price tag for dinner and drinks for 2 people I would much rather go somewhere else. I felt silly dressed up while our waiter wore jeans, and the place was half full. Not to mention it's located next to some Palladium - an entertainment place for washed up acts. Sadly, this is still very much Worcester, not high end at all. Come for the drinks or dessert, but if you want to look nice and feel that you got your money's worth, head to Anya in Thompson or a bigger city close to the coast. Not recommended. read more

Food: their menu is selective with high-quality ingredients as well as a rotating schedule when visiting. Just wanted to try the oysters, and they picked these from Maine, which had a very saltwater taste but good meat size. I definitely would come back here to try other food options. The drinks were fine, we got a Cosmo and espresso martini. I kinda expected a little bit more from it, but there's nothing wrong with classic making. Service: there is a 20% gratuity added on already when you start your bill. I think that's great to make sure that the staff is paid, but I hope that the service is still up to part when that is installed. The bartenders were fine, there's at least two of them going around making rounds to make sure we're doing good. Ambiance: it's gives rather a sophistic way of going to a restaurant that follows certain protocols to make it unique as they only open for a certain days and hours. It's rather dark inside, but that's what gives it the nightly tune for dinner. Location accommodation: they don't take any reservations or do takeout. If you want the absolute best burger you've ever had come here! I have never had such a beautiful and delicious burger in my life. Plus the fries and the sauce hit so hard! The service was fantastic friendly and inviting I felt at home. Speaking of home the fun glassware and grandmas china plates really tied it together. It's like your dad was a Michelin chef and your mom was the one serving you the food and asking you about your day at school. I cannot say enough good things about this place. read more

Menu is fairly limited but does seem like it changes quite often. - Waygu ribeye: I've always been disappointed when I get steaks at restaurants but got it anyways since the menu was limited. I am glad I did, best steak I've had. Perfectly cooked edge to edge medium rare, wonderfully seasoned and the wagyu melts in your mouth. Huge portion and was able to split with the wife. - Rigatoni: Not usually a pasta fan but it was really good though the portion was smaller than expected. - Grilled cheese: Got this for the kids since the pasta wasn't enough, nice thick toasts. I finally made it to Deadhorse yesterday and I had a great time. The atmosphere and staff are great. I was able to meet the owner, who is a great guy. Steve is a great bartender and a lot of fun. My gf and I had the Bubs (Prosecco I think) that they chilled in swan ice bucket which was really cool. The drink and food menu here are unique. I had the Glidden Point Oysters which were pretty good. My plan is to return to try their food some time soon. Overall, it was a great experience. read more

This has been my favorite restaurant in the Worcester area for over a year. The scene is always lively, the service is excellent, the drinks and wine list are terrific, and the menu flavors are always very well designed. The last two times I've been, however, the execution has declined. Although the flavors are still there, the duck entree I had recently was horribly butchered and fatty. The shrimp risotto we also ordered was soupy, and more of a grits and shrimp with fried onions on top. It missed the mark entirely. Deashorse is still a great spot, but please keep the consistency unchallengeable. read more

We've been here many times, and it remains one of our favorite venues in the area. It's also very convenient to Mechanics Hall and quite close to the Hanover Theater. We were quickly seated for our 6:15 reservation, and finished dinner with plenty of time to make our 8:00 Music Worcester concert. Deadhorse Hill always has interesting items on their menu. For an appetizer we shared the Crispy Mustard Spaetzle $15. This was an easy choice as we always order this house specialty, and are never disappointed! The Spaetzle was hot and delicious, and we'd recommend it for anyone dining here. For our dinners we ordered the following: * Roasted Half Chicken with Polenta and Oyster Mushrooms $28 * Pork Carnitas $28 (I think) * Caesar Salad $11 The chicken was the best dish of the evening, and it was superb. The skin was crispy, the chicken cooked perfectly, and I could have eaten even more of the excellent polenta, which is saying a lot as this dish was really filling! The pork was savory and delicious. The tortillas however were oil saturated, which adversely impacted this dinner and what could have been a five-star dish. The Caesar was tasty, but overly dressed. The diner finished about half of the salad lamenting that if it were ever ordered again, she would ask for the dressing on the side. Service was excellent throughout the entire meal, and we really like the vibe here. We rated this a four-star dinner, which could move to five-stars if the execution improved with the salad and tortillas. We will return. read more

Party of 4 on 11-6-2024, we were looking for a good meal and found it! Dinner prior to concert at the DCU Center, we sat down and had drinks and dinner. Burgers, hand cut fries, risotto, etc. Lots of great local beers on tap, and our server was able to describe / recommend them at ease. Noticed a note on the menu stating 20% gratuity is included on all orders, didn't really mind that, as the service and food were excellent! Nice place, great food, warm ambiance, great for a date night. A shining star in downtown Worcester. read more
