    Palak paneer swimming in oil

Disappointed! Small party tray of palak paneer was like a oil pipeline rupture; it was bad enough that we had to take a picture as a reminder. Call Cafe Zauq; they agreed to replace. Well; when we went back we got two of the small boxes; family not impressed. Gets better; we all got stomach aches from the food. Unfortunately we will have to remove them from our list of preferred eateries to the very bottom.

Industrial grade food for sure, Cafe Zauq fills the neighbourhood demand with a huge selection of home style Indian-Pakistani food on a massive scale. No one was sitting around the dining area when we went on the weekend, although it would be no doubt a great food court strip mall style minimalist experience if you worked nearby and could stop in. Samosas are the measure of these west end GTA depots of spice and here Zauq hit the spot perfectly. They have a .60 veg samosa and for twenty cents more, a beef Sammy for $0.80 each. These were gobbled up mysteriously before I could get my hands on them but what I did try was the wrap, custom made with care taking a bit of time in the kitchen... it was massive and masterfully prepared, cut in two and arranged in a perfect fit takeout container. And the huge trays of deep fried (I guess) items like the Popsicle chicken and fish fingers I couldn't resist. They are sold by the pound so I got a pound of each. Got the red ones. Just then a fresh batch of beautiful golden brown with flecks of chilies on them was unceremoniously dumped on top and I had a sample of Lehore style and it was fantastic! Also, there is no real choice in seasoning from what I could tell, just point and order, you get the spice whether you like it or not, that's just the way it is at Zauq.

Excellent! The beef seekh kebabs are especially awesome! Just don't microwave them after you have taken them back home - makes them hard.

Came here…read morebecause the reviews were good and wanted to try their food before we place a 100 person catering order for an upcoming event. The food was so bad I was legit disappointed and disgusted. We ate a few bites and left all the uneaten food on their table to clear up themselves-- so bad I didn't even take it to go. I really don't understand how people have been rating them more than 1 star. The fish pakora batter was bland and soggy on the inside and fell off the fish as you bite-- too much moisture. The Haleem had zero taste-- no meat, all lentil and zero spice. Felt like they used bland boxed or old masala. The Chicken Karahi-- was NOT Karahi -- it was swimming in a tomato salan. It was tasteless, no aroma, no spices, all you tasted was coriander garnish. The boneless chicken pieces were sad, the karahi would slip off the chicken. This was a different dish, don't call this karahi. The nihari was equally disappointing, the meat wasn't tender enough for a nihari, it has to be so tender that it falls apart -- this meat was tough and flavourless. The naans were the only acceptable item. Paid our bill in full but will never ever return. The washroom reeked like poop, if the washroom is so unhygienic then I can't imagine the kitchen. Asked for the manager to provide feedback, they never had the decency to show up.

I always rely on Yelp reviews over google and was very skeptical to try them as the ratings were pretty bad but I was pleasantly surprised. I had the halwa puri platter with Kheema it was really really good I mean you can't compare it to ones you get in Pakistan but I would give it a solid 8.5/10 for portion size, flavor, the puris were soft and not soaked in oil, the curries were tasty. The halwa however can be better, it lacked sweetness so I added a bit of Splenda and it did the trick. The chai was excellent too. The price point is good. They have a variety of items from burgers to much more I would next time try a chicken burger similar to zinger that many people were ordering. I went in on a weekend around 2-3 pm it was still pretty busy. The place is nice and done up cute. It was clean, I never used their bathroom. Service was quick. So nothing really unpleasant to report. Lots of parking too. Will definitely come back for more.

It's gold accented and comfortable chairs and booths. The bathroom reminds me of a Walmart or gas station for some reason, so that could be a bit better. The service/cashier was no different than a small cafe. We had the Kashmiri chai and the doodh pathi. The Kashmiri chai was okay and not bad, but doodh pathi was far superior. I would come here instead of going 30 minutes to Ridgeway to get a decent cup of bazaar chai. Only thing I'd suggest is getting these in to-go cups, even if they say no, because you get a little more chai than you do in the matka clay cup, which is cute, but we all want a little more chai at the end of the day.
