Change is hard. It's understandable that many do/will have reservations about this place. Looking at it from a new point of view, I appreciate what they are doing. The three main points I was looking for were the following: Ambiance: definitely up to par with other coffee shops in the area. I appreciate the design changes and layout. It's clear that they put thought into how people would use the space. Price: The coffee is good and justifies the price asked for Coffee: on point. I haven't had the food items so I cannot be a judge of that. I noticed other reviewers had a hard time with the lack of food options. I would to like make the point that this place, first and foremost is a coffee shop and coffee is what they should be doing well. I would rather have an establishment focus on perfecting their space and experience rather than try to add/do too much. Quality over quantity. In due time, I look forward to how they will listen to their critiques and evolve.

had a delicious chai and a great americano here. They were not serving sandwiches while I was there which was disappointing, but their tasty hummus and pitas almost made up for it. Fun atmosphere, but it's really quiet. I would recommend it as a study spot, but not for coffee shop convos...if ya know what I mean.

I love scoping out new coffee shops to do schoolwork in & I was hoping Cafe & Co would be THE one. However, I do have a couple of bones to pick. First, the drinks are a little pricey. I ordered a Matcha Latte with almond milk and for the $6+ I paid, I'll say I was underwhelmed. Still drinkable though. Second, the place is right next to a record shop that was BLASTING music while I was trying to study. It was some nice folky stuff - nothing obscene - but it was just really loud. If I didn't have my ear buds on me at the time, I would have left. On the brighter side, there is this giant table-thing with lots of outlets that I really liked. Plenty of space to have my notebooks and laptop. I also dug the artsy minimalist, industrial aesthetic that they had going on.

Drip coffee, chill vibes, the perfect afternoon.

It hit all the checkmarks for us. Even after a day old it was still reallly good. Server was also super helpful in getting us suggestion for another specialty drink. We avoided the sweeter ones so landed on the London smog latte with steamed oat milk, 2 shots of expresso, earl gray and cane syrup. The earl gray flavor was just perfect with the coffee and oat aroma. One of the best flavors coffee we've had. After the tea got steeped for a while it got a bit too strong but I still liked it at a lot. I love that it's aromatic without being overpowered by sweetness.

The espresso is pulled for a smooth shot. Their offerings resemble those of corporate coffee shops, despite some of the indie trappings. The beans come from a national wholesaler, and many specialty drinks are based on syrup flavors. I get the impression that this used to be an indie shop but that its character changed as it scaled up. The upshot is that they make generally agreeable coffee drinks that cost a little more than usual.

Upon arrival, I checked out the menu and saw a lot of wonderful variety of items that I wanted to try; however, I only had room for one thing. While scoping out the menu, my eyes fell on their soft-serve flavors. They not only had chocolate and vanilla flavors but also, hojicha, matcha, and ube. Plus, you could get them in a swirl or just as two flavors in a dish. I immediately decided that I wanted the Hojicha and Ube pairing. My son got the Matcha and Ube combo. Both were good. I liked all the flavors. Hojicha was my favorite, followed by Matcha, and then Ube. Each of these ice cream had rich flavor and the texture was smooth. The pricing of the soft-serve was on the high side but the portion size was good. The Ice cream is made in-house including the Hojicha. The shop was busy. It was frequented by U of I students, it seemed. The service was good. I'd go back here if I were to be in Champaign again. Check it out.

The tea had stevia in it (wtf??) which I personally think is the most disgusting and disappointing sweetener out there. Super weird for it to be a part of the tea bag, IMO. Ambiance? I would LOVE to spend more time there. I love local artists and the vibe there is really great. Soothing, relaxing, chill... but... I go to a coffee shop for the coffee and/or tea and if that's not great and if the barista is annoyed... I'm not going to stick around for the ambiance. (Also, with a name like Avionics, I was expecting a little more decor along that line. So if you're interested in aviation and airplanes, don't come here thinking you've found a fellow aficionado.)

Had great indoor decor -- as some previous reviewers said, it had a interesting combination of modernism and nature. However, food was not as good as environment. The menu was very limited (together with my friend we already covered the whole menu lol). I saw on Yelp that they offered the Lox Plate and Avocado Stack, which looked pretty amazing. Unfortunately they do not offer these any more. The lox bagel was super small, so were the egg sandwich and granola. The sandwiches tasted OK, but the granola was way too sweet for me. Luckily the price was reasonable. Not very likely to come here again as it offers too few things now. They do offer more drinks than food. So in general due to its decor and the fact that not many people go there, it would not be a bad choice to study or work here anyway.

Drinks and food themselves are very interesting and well made. Not in a "this is amazing", but it was good. My group and I enjoyed everything that we ordered, so the drinks and food were probably designed to please as many people as possible. The variety in their menu is interesting and I'm surprised they were willing maintain their diverse selections. The location is more in a hole-in-a-wall spot. Parking is a pain, but it's in a walking neighborhood amidst a bunch of stores and restaurants. It's a nice place to pop by for a quick drink or dessert after a huge dinner or for a walking break. The biggest concern I had with the place is that it's really not designed for people to stick around. Very few seats or uncomfortable standing areas. It's got this industrial layout where you go in, order digitally, get your food and get out.
