Despite few tables, it is on Portobello, so getting a takeout coffee and having a lovely walk along the beach, or a nearby park, is an option! They offer a range of zero-waste options of milks, jams and coffee beans which all look amazing. I was very happy to hear they donate the leftover/unsold breads to the homeless. They are also on Too Good to Go if you want to participate in tackling food waste for a cheaper price. I got a great range of pastries from the Too Good to Go. I was offered bread too, but I'd rather that go to the homeless. Amazing local place that deserves people's business!

Oh my, oh my! Starbucks has finally reopened at the Fort! After a six month absence, they have now…read moremoved into their new unit down by TK Maxx and Primark, which is so much sleeker and brighter than their old store inside Waterstones. There are charging points at every table and a free Wi-Fi service, as per usual for Starbucks. Despite being a small unit, they have been able to put in a lot of seats. If you go behind the counter, there are bench seats, whilst in the front are standard tables and chairs as well as a few sofas. I was wary that there would be a few teething problems but there was none. My iced caramel macchiato was as good as ever and was served pretty quickly. The only wobble was that they didn't seem to know how to use the loyalty card system when I whipped out my card. In almost every area, this store is a vast and much-needed improvement and an asset to Fort Kinnaird. Once the staff gain some more experience it will be even better.

There is space for about 15 people inside, so it's not very large, and we were lucky to get a cute table for two near the door. We were immediately welcomed by a smiling server, who was very nice indeed. The cakes were on display in a cabinet and in the window area, and there was a nice selection. I ended up having a piece of Victoria Sponge, and Mary a chocolate cake. We also had a pot of tea for two. The tea came in a super cute tea cosy and with two fine china cups. The cake followed soon after, and they were both tasty. Clearly fresh, moist, and sweet. We both enjoyed them immensely. The place also has a nice menu of breakfast food, soup, scones etc. so there is a lot of choice. I'll be back.

The staff was nice and gave us a few recommendations, which were super helpful since it was our first time there. The café itself is pretty small, with limited indoor seating and a few tables outside. There was an organized queue to get in and order, but it moved pretty quickly, so the wait wasn't bad at all. Everything was good, but I can't say it was the best coffee or pastries I've ever had. Maybe my expectations were just too high because of all the hype, but I was definitely expecting a little more.
