I was at this…read morestore today and it was so busy that I had to sit out in the mall, and not in the comfort of armchairs. This store is a LOT smaller than I remember. The last time I was in Ocean Terminal, there seemed to be a lot more seating. I thought it went further back too but I was wrong. I had to queue up for ages to get my drink and I had to wait even longer in the chaotic collection area where someone tried to take my drink before I realised that my name had been called out. I had a Chocolate Marshmallow S'mores Frappucino which was really rich and delicious and was the highlight of the whole thing. The staff taking my order were pleasant as well. I went to the toilet on my way out, and there was only one and I had to wait forever before the person using it came out. It was filthy, smelly and when I flushed the toilet, the water pressure in the tap completely wobbled. The hand dryer felt like it was about to fall off the wall when I put my hands under it. I will be back at the Leith Street Starbucks next time but this one is more convenient for Ocean Terminal. It isn't as bad as some stores but some days will be better than others.

My companion requested "easy on the ice". It was almost completely filled with ice with very little drink. I ordered a triple caramel frappucino with no whipped cream. Instead, there was lots of whipped cream. So they were 0 for 2 on drink accuracy. There is a decent amount of seating upstairs, with couches and so on. So they get points for that.

One for the parents, one for the grandparents and one of the country? A baby bonus perhaps? Since I arrived back in Edinburgh in September 2010, the main thing I have notice is all the mothers pushing babies around. And is not just one baby, it's a couple, side by side in big "armoured car sized" strollers. I could go on and on about the obnoxiousness of these strollers on the sometimes narrow footpaths here, but lets stay on topic... Not so much in the city centre, but every cafe of decent size (with no stairs) in or near a residential area invariably has half of it taken over by some sort of mother/baby/dragged-along-hubby group, taking over the space with themselves, their offspring and their prams. Here's how they operate... One of the group members will come to a cafe 20+ minutes early and snag one of the couches or the biggest table ("Why does that one woman and her baby need that big table to herself?" you always asked). If you are sitting nearby and you see this happening, now is the time to look out for an open table at the opposite end of the cafe, or you will soon be be hemmed in by at least half a dozen mums and at least 1.5 times their number in kids, be they in prams or crawling under your table, looking for that purple elephant toy that they have thrown under there 3 or 4 times already. So, the Stockbridge Starbucks review. Well, its a Starbucks in the UK, which is better than a Starbucks in the US, as the tea seems to be better. Don't drink coffee, so can't comment on the difference there. Its clean. Toilets are usually clean. Staff seem friendly. The WiFi is a bit dodgy (it will work on our Mac, but not on the PC) and they don't seem to have the stem ginger muffins that I have seen at other branches. But the big plus over the nearby Costa and Nero is its stairs. I can sit down and not worry about screaming kids or being blocked in by gargantuan strollers etc... In the end, I would prefer not to go to a Starbucks/Costa/Nero, but the independent cafes in Stockbridge are small and not really conducive to sitting down and pulling out a laptop (and I guess they would be taken over by the baby brigade, if they were any larger). Now if I was to do a review on the Princes St. Starbucks, which is large AND upstairs, I would be whinging about too many students taking over the place with their laptops. Yes, I see the irony.

They do have iced coffee options and can do tea lattes so long as you are clear with the drink order. The queue moves fairly quickly if there is one and the baristas behind the counter are friendly and prompt. They handle the orders expediently and work fluidly as a team. The seating is located on the second floor which could be a hindrance if you are not adept to going up steps. There is no lift if you need assistance going upstairs so make note of there. There is outdoor seating but depending on the weather, you may not find it conducive. If you are picking up an order to head back out, the space available to wait for the drinks to be ready can get very crowded quickly. There isn't a lot consider, especially if you need to grab sugar and other items from the condiment station. It's also located next to the one bathroom so you have to be mindful if someone went in.

This specific Starbucks in Edinburgh, Scotland is two floors. Majority of the seating is upstairs. We stopped in to grab a snack, rest a bit, and use the loo (restroom). Place was not too busy, and service was quick and polite. The facilities were clean too. My chocolate croissant was tasty. No complaints regarding this Starbucks. Strange how I have better experiences at Starbucks locations that are not located in the United States of America..

This Starbucks, although relatively new, acts like it's been running like a machine for a while now. The staff, like most baristas in Starbucks, are absolutely lovely and love having a chat whilst taking your payments or making your drinks. It's quite a spacious branch, with quite a lot of seating dotted all over the room, and plenty of plugs for charging your electrical equipment. Pretty decent Starbucks as Starbucks go!

For some reason I always end up in this particular branch and every time I end up thinking WHY! The place always has a queue, then after the queue where do you go? Into some sort of Starbucks limbo, because the shop is so small there isn't enough seats. And then if you are lucky enough to get a seat, some ignorant fool will hover next to you, keeping a close watch on your progress so they can nab your chair. After meeting a friend here today I vowed never to return, it has annoyed me one too many times! And I thought I would get my revenge by yelping. The layout of the place is very unique, with the wooden staircase being the centrepiece of the building. The building itself is wood clad but has glass windows on either side. With the space they had, they managed to fit in lots of seating without making it feel overcrowded. I can always find a seat in here, unlike in Starbucks where I will often have to use my eagle eye to spot a table. Today I had a hot chocolate and it was very nice. Nero definitely have the best hot chocolate out of the big 3 chains! Hot chocolate from Starbucks is just too watered down and the Costa hot chocolate is good but it depends on what café you buy it from. In Caffe Nero however, you are always guaranteed a nice, rich hot chocolate. The ground floor has all the soft seats like the sofas that you will just sink into and the comfy armchairs. The service counter is also down here so it will be convenient if you are on this floor because you might spill your drink while walking upstairs. I also like the frappes and brownies from Nero. They truly are delicious! The décor here is very nice and reminded me of an indie coffee shop in Italy when you are really in a chain café in a retail park. Even the toilets had Italian decorations in them! Speaking of the toilets, they are very clean but the stupid tap design gets water all over the floor. Downstairs, there is only 1 which is the disabled one but upstairs there are 3. I noticed a bookshelf upstairs too which looked like it had some nice books on it. The staff here are also great at what they do and none of them have ever been rude or snarky towards me.
