I had three different people all in odd situations, 1 a 20 something, 1 a 50 something and 1 about 6 weeks old. My sister is turning 65 next month and I told her to get a broker like Lynn Caffrey. Everyone who must make health insurance choices should have a broker, and it's hard to imagine a better one of those than Caffrey Solutions. The choices might be ACA policies or they might be all the choices incumbent with Medicare. The reason you should have an insurance broker is threefold: the insurance doesn't cost a dime more; the broker knows all the choices (and a good broker matches choices to your needs); and if you run into issues with one of the insurance behemoths, you have someone on your side with relationships and names to call on your behalf. Choosing a broker, you want someone who is smart, detail-oriented, people-skilled, with good advice and the ability to translate insurance-eze into English words and phrases that make sense for the rest of us. Gabriel gives such personalized service and attention, despite all the problems with getting a CA SHOP plan in order around the time the SHOP was implemented, Gabriel went the extra mile in order to ensure that we got exactly what was needed. He would also make sure to do the additional investigation and research in order to ensure that our plan was complaint and had no issues. Gabriel also provided us alternative plans for various other needs, including dental, vision, life and other employee benefits. Whenever there would be billing problems, Gabriel would reach out to the various insurance departments to resolve them and make sure that our plans were not cut off. I'm a procrastinator. This can be fatal in regards to one's own health. I'm a relatively active middle age African-American male who has never had major health issues (age has a way of catching up with us). I had health insurance a few years ago and let it lapse. Recently I found myself admitted (for four days) to a hospital after a visit to its emergency room (lying in a hospital bed without health insurance and my bill was rapidly increasing). I was familiar at that time with Lynn Caffrey of Caffrey Insurance Solutions. I knew of her professional reputation and expertise (was planning earlier to utilize her services). When I was discharged I was very aware that I had a large debt to pay off. I had mistimed my first-ever personal health crisis (If I'd only known). I decided to get in touch with Lynn ASAP knowing that I may have future medical procedures after my hospital discharge (during my hospital stay five different doctors had recommended visits to specialists and medical procedures). I called her and informed her of my predicament. She paused and asked me if I could get to her downtown oakland office immediately knowing that I had a catheter draining my body. I went directly to her office and she was waiting to get started (She definitely had a strategy for my situation). She obtained my personal information and we decided upon an appropriate health plan. Within forty-five minutes we had completed the application and Lynn zipped it off to the insurer. I thanked Lynn and headed home and felt more secure in my future life decisions. Please understand these next few sentences. There could of been an element of luck involved in my case and I was accepted in the health insurance plan within 2-3 business days and notified by Lynn via email (Lynn seemed somewhat surprised at the expediency of my insurer's response). Suffice it to say Lynn saved me a substantial amount of money and provided health care coverage for me (by the way I struggle with personal self-care if that's not obvious to you readers).
