my personal experience with mancheno insurance has been a nightmare. First thing I noticed is, the high pricing on their policies. They are extremely expensive compared to other companies like geico For example. Geico has way better pricing and better customer service. The people at mancheno insurance lied to us about pricing so they could collect my credit card information. Once they got it, they charge what ever they wanted. Speaking to their personnel was also difficult, we could never fully understand what they were saying due to an English language barrier. These people collected an unauthorized payment from my card and they are having a hard time refunding my money after I cancelled my services. I would not recommend mancheno or mercury insurance to anyone. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Jorge is the least professional insurance representative I have ever worked with. I contacted him a few weeks ago in regards to a new insurance policy for my house. First of all, it took several phone calls for me even to reach him. They leave emails and voicemails unanswered. When I finally got a hold of him, I explained my situation and he provided a quote. When I followed up with a few questions about my quote, he became defensive and rude. He told me that if I was unhappy I shouldnt be in the housing market which seemed like a strange comment. He simply doesn't have patience for people. He eventually screamed at me and hung up the phone. I highly recommend contacting literally any other insurance company in town who will treat you much better. read more

California's insurance market is broken, yet Jorge and team have been able to come through year after year. Our home is in a fire zone area, and every major insurer has pulled out. This threatens our insurance needs, as well as the mortgage that requires it. We've done our own plan and broker shopping with little success, but Jorge was able to come through with an insurer that works for us and our bank. Our story will be familiar to many people in the Bay Area and California: Insurance cancelled and a very expensive FAIR plan and wraparound seemingly as our only option. Jorge explained all options very thoroughly and even more thoroughly sought bids on our behalf. We weren't popular with insurers, but he managed to come up with a couple of options and kept going until the deadline--when he found coverage through a non-admitted carrier that saved us a fair amount of money compared to, well FAIR. All along the way, he stayed in touch, kept us updated, and patiently answered any and all questions, walking us through the options. I can only imagine how busy he and his office are right now, so his diligence and attentiveness were especially appreciated. I've been a customer for 7 years and was was happy with my rate for home & auto, but last week I got a message that I need to remove an overhanging branch or insurance can't be renewed. I was told they'd call me, but the number they had for me was wrong by a digit. I wrote back correcting that, Then they emailed to change the day of the phone call but gave me two different times on the day they wanted. It was a nightmare to work with Jorge. My agent referred Jorge to me for the HO insurance. I completely understand the difficulty of getting the HO insurance for a property on the Oakland hills, but still got disappointed that he was only able to get the CA Fair Plan after waiting for a couple weeks. I used it to close the deal as the timeline was tight. Then I immediately started to looking for quotes from other brokers. Fortunately it didn't take me long to find another broker who helped me get a quote with way better coverage and 1/3 cost. When I called Jorge to cancel the FAIR plan, he issued the refund, but charged $200 "processing fee" WITHOUT my agreement! He said they have been in business over 25 yrs. I have to admit that his voice over the phone sounds professional, but I hope they knew charging a broker fee on CA FAIR plan is a violation of the CA department of insurance regulations. Super unprofessional. Don't believe those five stars. There are plenty of professional HO insurance brokers in the local area can help you get a decent plan. Stay away from this place. read more
